KU has had plenty of great players who have never won a championship - that doesn't diminish their ability. In fact - you could probably argue that there are a lot of championship teams (in every sport) who don't even have one great player. Just a lot of good ones that happen to be on top when the pieces fell just right.
Wilt was the best.
@wissox I didn't google it right now, but the last time we talked about Wilt, I looked and LeBron had something like twelve 50 point games in 16 years (?). MJ had 31.
Wilt had ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTEEN 50 POINT GAMES as a pro.
That's more than the next top five 50 point scorers combines.

@drgnslayr I've read enough books and articles about Wilt that I truly believe he could have donned a red cape with a giant "S" (or W, or KU) on it and he could have, from a standing start, jumped onto the top of the backboard.
He was a freak athlete. Like you said, not just basketball player - but athlete.

@bskeet I would love for us to be National Champs - but not this way. Even though in my heart I believe that no one could beat us if we were healthy - you just don't know. Some schmoe you never heard of goes and hits 14 3 pointers and we have 28 turnovers (oh, we all know that can happen) - then we're watching the glitter fly for some other team.
Just say we had a great year and let's do it next season.

@bskeet DO IT. Print the banner. Engrave the Trophy. I agree with all of your points - and I said a while back that if we were healthy (meaning not injured) there wasn't one single team out there that could beat us.

Since we have NO sports to talk about for a while, I thought I'd ask you all to share some personal stories, jokes, fun facts - anything that is not politics and/or virus talk. Please.
I'll start with a stupid story of mine from about 20 years ago.
One day, my brother in law, father in law and myself got up very early and headed to one of our local lakes to go fishing. It was a perfect day, slightly overcast, temperature in the low 70's and a 5-10 mph west wind. We got on the water about 7:00 am and started trolling.
The day before, my father in law had bought a new, high dollar lure that he was very excited about. At about 7:15 my brother in law caught a small walleye and I was glad that we were off to a good start. Well, all morning long and into the afternoon my brother in law and I caught fish. A LOT of fish. Nice fish. And my father in law would NOT take his lure off and use what we were using. We practically begged him. Finally, about 4:00 in the afternoon he relented and put on a lure similar to the ones we were using.
Just to be ornry, when he took his original lure off I told him "Let me see that thing for a minute". I took it from him and put it on my line. I swear - TWO MINUTES later I caught an eleven pound Striper.
My father in law did not see the humor in it. At all.

@Bosthawk I posted on here a few days ago that, for the first time in my life, I believed we would win it all if we stayed healthy. Healthy, meaning not injured. I haven't seen a team anywhere that could stay with us with a healthy Doke and Dotson.
I'm pretty sure the NCAA invented this virus to keep KU out of the limelight. (not really, but it feels good to say it)
I'll take some flack for this because not everyone shares my beliefs. Here's what it boils down to for me personally.

This applies to this and so many other things in the world. It's not about the actual "enemy" (coronavirus, in this instance) - it's about the FEAR of the enemy. The actual enemy is never as big as the fear of it, no matter what it is.

@drgnslayr With all due respect to your father (my dad is 84, I get where you're coming from) they're probably much more likely to be exposed to the flu. We're not screening anyone for the flu. I'm not a doctor, but the numbers seem to back that up.
Or - people could wash their hands, cough/sneeze into their elbows, not freak out - and watch KU win another National Championship.
