@mayjay I think your comment jinxed then. You're probably a big 10 hater and you got out your bobby knight doll and started poking needles in it. You chanted something about woody Hayes punching Clemson players and abracadabra Badgers miraculous comeback is thwarted.
Thanks for the condolences! Actually were down by 19, I was about to turn it off.

@wissox Badgers within 2 with 2 mins to go.
1st half you posted something similar and then they fell apart. You jinxed us again. I'm kind of miffed at one kid who fooolishly fouled a 3 point shooter, then missed a dunk. Really cost us the game.
21 for chalmers tonight.
Iowa got beat by Louisiana Lafayette.
Listened to Eye on College basketball podcast today from CBS. The episode was about the Ball saga and the Champions classic. They talked several minutes about MSU, then 20 more about Duke, then like 20 seconds about KU, then 12 more about Kentucky. Grrrrrrr.....
@Crimsonorblue22 Did Porter play?
Badgers suck at FT's. Baylor sucks at coaching. See which team sucks more!
Badgers getting smoked right now by Baylor.
@mayjay I go back to the mid 70's for sports. I see Alan Ameche a FB from Wisconsin won! Thanks for the education!
@Texas-Hawk-10 Of course KU captains refusing to shake his hands comes across as pretty poor too. Up here in Chicago they showed that not mentioning that Baker was acting the fool too.
@nuleafjhawk The heisman has always bugged me because it's usually not the best player in college football, it's the best QB, RB or in some cases the best receiver or rarely defensive player. Pretty sure no defensive lineman or linebacker or offensive lineman or even fullback has won the thing.
It's always interesting to note that when RB's and QB's rack up impressive stats it's only because of the offensive linemen. It's why Ron Dayne remains my favorite college player because after gaining 300 yards or whatever he'd be interviewed and he'd always tell the interviewer to go talk to the offensive linemen because they were the ones who made it possible.
As for Mayfield, I haven't followed OU too closely to know what the issues are with him, but I'll read your link and find out.
@mayjay Yeah, that felt like another country! Back home in Chicago now, so everything is back to normal, except I'm still teaching really tough kids.
@jayballer54 Wow, 5 senior starters? Probably doesn't happen too often. Badgers started 4 last year.
@approxinfinity I hope so. @Crimsonorblue22 i don't think best and trash talker go together.
Careful you said:
@wissox so is the eligibility use-by period more or less than a hundred years?
Either way I do sneak in under that.
Not quite KU stories, but KU related.
Texas Tech rocks Northwestern 85-49. NW, with a #20 next to their name for ranking. TT might be a dangerous team.
Missouri has 36 straight road losses the longest in NCAA. Their archrival Kansas has a 45 game road losing streak in football, the longest in NCAA history.
The difference is we have an awesome basketball program and Missouri has neither. I'll take being Kansas any day.
Watching Josh Jackson playing right now. He made a 3 for his first points of the game, but that didn't stop him from turning to the Bulls bench for a little trash talk. His first points were at the end of the 3rd period. Not a time to trash talk in my opinion, but he's probably not going to be my favorite ex-Jayhawk.
Joel is my favorite ex-Jayhawk, but Frank is getting some PT for the perennial losers in Sacramento. Hope he can find a role in the NBA. I think he will.
Grayson Allen probably didn't have any friends or training growing up. How else to explain his tired act? If I was a Duke fan I'd be in Coach K's office tomorrow demanding he kick him off the team just for the embarrassment he brings to that fine institution.
I still have college eligibility left, I wonder if Bill Self could use someone like me? I can shoot FT's with my eyes closed and make them as much as many college players make them with their eyes open.
I wish we had a non conference schedule like that except for the every game on the road part. Goodness, what a travel bill that must be!
@mayjay There's lots of hangable posts on this website, that's not one of them. Some people don't know how to respond well to someone simply asking a question!
I've loathed him since the Wisconsin game.
Even if some booster gave the kid a car, as long as he didn't step foot in a real NCAA game we have nothing to worry about in terms of penalties, correct? Of course we'll have lots to worry about in terms of little front line help for Doke.
The Eye on College Basketball has an hour long podcast that currently has these topics. I haven't listened yet, but it sounds interesting. The link is here. Let us know what you think.

Fun to see one of the Morri' playing for that team.
Some might be wondering what's wrong with DG? I looked at his game log and see few points, pretty poor shooting, but the last two Fridays in particular low shot volume, but hi assist numbers. He's averaging nearly 10 a game with 29 in 3 games. Is he putting the team on his shoulders by making sure that we win games by doing other things than hoisting up a bunch of shots? 3 games is a small sample size I understand, but it's interesting to watch.
Paragraphs please! Thanks for taking the time to write, but it's hard for me to read!
@BShark Wow, great find on that! Just another reason to like that young man from Cameroon.

@wissox A bit of a stretch to think it reflects on Self.
You're probably right, but last years character issues made me think about the old beloved alma mater a little more. Trust me, I haven't soured on coach.
What would fall be without some drama regarding one of our players? Anyone wonder if Self is slipping in his recruitment of players? I know we have a stellar class coming but this is an ongoing problem here, now. Too many bad headlines. Year after year. Character matters and I'm wondering if it doesn't matter as much for Bill Self? I've always thought it mattered a lot. I've always thought we run a pretty tight ship here and we're not like those other teams. I sure don't want others to start thinking of KU as a school with a shady rep. Because if we become that, my own fandom takes a hit. I believe strongly in right and wrong. I take pride in cheering for good guys who don't finish last. Don't wreck it for us Coach!
@jayballer54 Except Randle isn't really a center, I think, right? He should have been dominated by Joel because he's out of position. In college he was a power forward, he's only 6'9" against a 7'2" guy.
Doke has soft hands. He made some great catches on lobs over the top and converted (albeit with some extra steps a couple of times) them into easy buckets. If you could create a stat (shots at the rim has been created I think) that shows how close the basket the scorer is he probably set a team record Tuesday night.
@BeddieKU23 I got chills watching that. Incredible shooting, passing, footwork (which is a lost art), defense, hustle.
Randle didn't sleep last night I'm sure as he lay awake quivering from his futile efforts to stop him.
What if he had stayed at KU? And Wiggins? I understand the financial draw but what if these guys suddenly said screw it, I want a championship in college before getting drafted by a last place team. It's what Frank Kaminsky did.
Wilt had more than 20 boards per game for his first 11 seasons! Incredible. As @mayjay and @JayHawkFanToo pointed out, assists were tracked and indeed one year he averaged 8.6 in leading the league.
Joel last night was relatively close to a quadruple double. Had they tracked blocks, Wilt undoubtedly would have joined the four other NBAers to have quadruple doubles. But blocks weren't recognized until 1974 which is amazing. It's really an underrated stat. It prevents the other team from scoring on that shot and possibly that possession.
Speaking of blocks, I love hearing Bill Walton rant after a player pleases the crowd with a swat of a shot 5 rows up into the stands. He says they should have just caught the ball and gave possession to his team.
@Crimsonorblue22 I don't think they counted assists or blocks back when Wilt was playing, but I bet he put up numbers like that.
Some one fill me in on the John Philip De Sousa thing. I've been quite busy and haven't been able to keep up.
6'5" guard who can rebound and score and dish? Sounds like a bright future. Self aint leaving anytime soon with this class coming in. 2019-20 national champs. Book it!
Our 2003 juggernaut that should have won the National Championship was 3-3 at one point. Lost to UNC (unranked and low expectations at the time), Florida, ranked 7th and then Oregon also ranked 7th. So as some have pointed out, early season results are not always the greatest indicators of success.

@wrwlumpy we watched 90% of the game with the annoying little man muted. He is insufferable.
Serious question: Does anyone in the US of A actually like DV? Why is he still on air?
I've always appreciated Dick Vitale. I know he's not everyone's cup of tea, but he's been our games biggest fan. What sometimes happens though with legendary people like him is they grow old and the younguns come up and think, who's this old guy and why is he talking like that? So I think his time to go is approaching. He's 78.
I've always thought he has had the greatest of respect for KU. He comes to AFH and gushes non stop about the place, the fans, the program. We could do a lot worse (fran) than Dicky V.
Slack runs very smoothly. Not the end of the world to do game chats there. Come on and try!
JB, come join us on Slack!
Joel, while entertaining for sure, might need to tone it down a bit. Right now it's kind of a funny act, but he's going to develop a reputation as a trash talker and I'm sure many who don't share the affection we have for our beloved Jayhawk might already be tired of his act. Staring down an accomplished player like Blake Griffin is foolish in my opinion. If I was a Blake Griffin fan I'd be like come on son, play a few years before you start with this stuff.
Really enjoying watching their highlights.
Last night against the Clippers Joel had 32 and 16 boards, a staredown of Blake Griffin, got taken down by some chump named Reed, then mocked Reed from the bench, then posterized Jordan.
Simmons is playing fantastically, averaging fairly close to a triple double. Robert Covington, a late bloomer if there ever was one, arose from 2nd team Ohio Valley Conference in his senior year, then undrafted to starting for the Sixers. He's averaging 17 a game, 6 boards. This is with the other two mentioned averaging a double double and a near triple double.
If Fultz turns out as advertised, the Sixers are going to be a lot of fun to watch for a long time.
@mayjay Sorry I missed the previous discussion! Thanks for your response though.
@mayjay and others of course! I know you have a legal background of some sort and wondered what you thought of hate crime charges.
As I listened to a PBS discussion of hate crimes I thought through some of my own objections to it.
-
Aren't almost all crimes committed in hatred for the victim? If someone attacked one of my family members wouldn't it be logical to say they'd be a victim of hatred for them?
-
If that person was attacked because they were something that society says deserves to be protected by hate crime laws, doesn't that violate the civil rights of the person who is a crime victim because they're not part of a protected class?
-
How do you prove someone committed a crime as a hate crime unless the person stated that was his or her intention?
-
What I stated in 3 leads to a double standard because 'protected classes' who are victims will see their attacker charged with hate crimes while reverse cases won't. I saw this once in Baton Rouge where a person was told you don't belong in this neighborhood (African American majority) and beaten severely along with his wife and daughter who defended him. No hate crime added to that despicable mans charges.
-
When a blood shoots a crip isn't that hatred at it's worst? Sounds like hatred to me.
Anyhow, these are thoughts that irk me when I hear this term thrown around. What do you or others think?

@Lulufulu Tuesday will also be UK's 3rd game in 5 days, conditioning may be an issue for them Tuesday night.
Seems strange they'd have a Sunday afternoon game just before the big Tuesday affair.
@kjayhawks Go Catamounts!
I predict at least several......hundred squid references on these pages. Nauseating fawning statements about what an amazing coach he is. I predict one Kentucky player who will arrive at the gym in Chicago in a Lamborghini with a personal license plate. He'll thank his rich uncle for the graduation gift. When asked what his rich uncles name is the kid will forget what his name is. I predict a Kentucky player in his 2nd career game will announce at the free throw line he is going pro just after bricking the FT. I predict another Kentucky player will get whistled for a foul and he'll pull something green out of his sock that resembles a 100 bucks and then the ref will roll that the Kansas player actually fouled the Kentucky kid. I predict that Doke will foul 6'00" 160 LB Kentucky guard Brad Calipari so hard that the kid will literally break in half. Cal will be seen wiping a tear from his eye, and then go back to coaching the rest of the game saying his kid wasn't tough enough for Kentucky anyways. I predict Rupp will come back and convince the AD to change their name to KKKentucky. I predict that Cal will hire a new assistant coach named Pitino. Cal will be heard saying Pitino can bring a lot to the team. I predict Kentucky will declare themselves pro at halftime and stay in the lockerroom and don the Bulls uniforms. I predict that Kentucky's team lear jet will crash because of all the cash on board weighing the plane down. I predict 90% of these predictions will come true.
Sorry for your loss. I pray you will be filled with comforting good memories of your dad in weeks to come.
I always take these victories with a grain of salt. Encouraging to see (actually I saw little) the team play well in many facets.
Badgers beat SC State. 7 footer Andy VanVliet went 4-5 from trifecta land.
