@Hawk8086 Because ESPN doesn't know how long football and basketball games last we keep having this problem.
@KUSTEVE It's warm here in Louisiana too. Going down from 80 to 30's tomorrow.
That coach is recruiting a kid I've taught and coached here in Baton Rouge also. I keep telling the kid he needs to go to KU.
I'd like to add a can of kick a$$ for when we play Kentucky
Have at it experts. Gifts for tomorrow, gifts for the league season, gifts for March and April and gifts for the future.
I'd give him a bottle of March Magic.
I'd put a rejuvenated Landen Lucas in his stocking for league play.
I'd give him a FT trainer that he could loan to several of his frequent shooters.
@JayHawkFanToo Well I wasn't saying he wasn't ready, I just thought it'd be nice to have seen him develop. I liked his play. It definitely wasn't for the reason @Crimsonorblue22 mentioned!
KO is one guy I wish we'd had a chance to see develop into a 3 or 4 year player. Maybe JJ doesn't come to KU if Kelly stayed, but we'd still have a deep team if he'd stayed.
@Lulufulu I go to quite a bit of college baseball games here in Baton Rouge. The problem with college baseball, and I think college hoops would follow suit to a lesser degree, is that the talent is watered down a bit. While some players develop into major leaguers in college obviously, the best players are allowing them to get drafted out of HS or out of the Latin American world. If hoops went the baseball route, I'd still enjoy the games a lot, but we'd have to adjust to KU hoops without JJ, Wiggs, Joel, etc.
Like some of you have mentioned it's too bad they didn't adopt the TAD rule. Two years would have been a good compromise. Ben Simmons, the kid at Washington and their ilk would be forced to care a bit about their schooling and about the school they play for.
This OAD rule is exactly why I didn't go to college. I wanted to go pro right away.
@Kcmatt7 Interesting you said that because I saw the other day where the Big 12 has all of its' teams inside of the KenPom top 75. No other league has depth like that. If the tourney field of 68 teams was based on just KenPom's top 75 we'd have 8 or 9 teams dancing!
They must have seen Baylor hilites and wanted to be like Baylor.
I'd modify your statement to "I hope Bragg will play better now." Personally I don't see how this makes him better. I think, possibly, (and what the heck do I know?), I think that Bragg's talent has been exaggerated a bit.
He was a diehard Cubs fan apparently and was rewarded before passing on.
I hate Duke, that's all I've got to say.
@tis4tim Sad but true!
@REHawk Maybe Bill Self doesn't know what he's doing Smiley Face
I will never comment on basketball again because I know nothing about this game. If you had bet me that some day, especially this year, that Cheick would have a double double in the NBA you could have probably won my house! I wouldn't have given him a chance to ever score more than a few points.
Diallo have any stats worth sharing?
You can have James Shields back if you'd like for a couple of your top prospects.
@HawkChamp Nine games into a season means our FT shooting isn't going to improve all that much I'm afraid. Josh's FT and Doke's are just plain ugly. They've got to relearn how to shoot them I think.
I'm going to UT for our game in February. Of course I want us to win as I see them in person for the first time since New Orleans in 2012. Looks like my chances are pretty good.
Nice post. I enjoyed reading it. Money leads to a lot of evils.
World Series games ending at 11PM or even later without extra innings.
East coast hoops teams starting home games at 9 Eastern time on a school/work night.
The whole OAD phenomenon.
Creighton playing in the Big East. St. Louis in the Atlantic 10. Missouri in the SEC and Rutgers in the Midwest League, better known as the Big1G. And my favorite, Chicago State in the Western Athletic, a league that at one time included a team from New Jersey.
Ben Simmons and Markelle Fultz wasting their year of college trying not to get hurt.
Drew Gooden deciding the money of the NBA was worth more than staying one more year and winning a national championship.
The Yankees throwing 86 million at a man a year removed from an arrest for domestic violence.
Cats and Dogs, living together.
No interviews, got to show coach k as soon as possible.
@JayHawkFanToo Wichita state? Washington State? Washburn State? Wyoming State?
Self leaves our starters in too long.
2nd time they've mentioned Duke today at least.
@Crimsonorblue22 NIce! I was looking back thinking no one mentioned Newman except an hour ago!
We are 8-19 on FT's. We need to fix this. 03 comes to mind every time we talk about missed FT's and what can happen to a team because of them.
@HawkChamp True, but I don't really think of this years team as being like that. We've lost one game and nearly made a miracle comeback to win that. Instead we've won a bunch of games going away haven't we?
Announcer just said we've had trouble closing games out this year? Really?

FS1 if you want to watch end of Badgers Marquette. Getting a little nervous after being up by 18
Holy cow, what is this, remind us of every KU NCAA loss day on ESPNU?
@tundrahok SHe's hired a lawyer apparently too.
@tundrahok Yessir.
No charges filed against Carlton's GF according to JNew
ESPN put the reminder of the game on there, I didn't! Don't tell me to stop.
Still can't believe Northern Iowa beat us.
If Lightfoot ever has a kid he should name him Buzz.
Amigos, the game on ESPN3 is in Spanish! Can't watch on TV right now.
My annual rant. Broadcasters should put team fouls on the screen. It's more relevant to the game than #'s of Time outs which they display.
Just turned on the Badgers v. Marquette. Rivalry game. Happ just sat with two fouls. I'm on DVR so no spoilers! I'll catch up soon.
I'm going out on a limb, but I see 16,300 people in the seats of AFH.
@drgnslayr
"I’ve always hated the guys that talk smack AFTER getting beat. The time to prove it was last night."
You mean like Billy Tubbs did in 1988 after we beat OU in KC? Heard it with my own ears!
@Crimsonorblue22 @RockChalkRedlock He's what, 6'10"? Strong. That's physical enough to make him physically imposing to me. On the court he's going up against similarly built and conditioned people.
@RockChalkRedlock He's a large, physically imposing person. I wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of him.
A pitcher who pitched the Cubs to the World Series on the 1 year anniversary of a domestic violence act which involved terrorizing his wife with a gun recently signed with the Yankees for something like 86 million dollars. Maybe Carlton saw two high profile major league teams turn a blind eye to domestic violence and figured it wasn't that big of a deal.
If you've ever seen a professional/major college athlete up close, which I know we all have, these guys are absolutely physically intimidating. I shudder to think what it must be like to face an angry person who is 6'8" and conditioned like Carlton is.
I hope, not for KU basketball sakes, but for Carlton's and whomever he is involved with that nothing happened. If something did happen, I hope he never steps foot on the court at AFH, but that he gets it together completely to make some money as an NBA player, overseas player, plumber, banker or whatever.
@BeddieKU23 Yeah I flagged it, not sure what that even does. That loss for ISU is obviously a rivalry game. Carver Hawkeye is a fairly compact arena that reminds of the Octagon of Dumb and it can be intimidating. Fans are right on top of the action, ala Cameron, and of course, the greatest of them all, AFH.
@elpoyo Why do you come here?
