I will be monitoring. Driving to Wisconsin for a minor thrill tonight. I'll be watching a kid I taught and followed his career closely go up against the Badgers in Madison. He starts for Northern Illinois. Had a 14 point, zero turnover, 10 assist night against Louisiana Monroe Monday. His highlight that I've seen was watching him throw a half court alley oop pass on a fast break. Oh, I should mention it was in the 8th grade state championship game. If you take a moment and check it out on BIG Network, he sticks out on the court for his blond hair.

I heard we haven't lost to an ACC team since 2o18. Hope the streak continues on.

Colorado was 5th in the RPI and we're 9th. Didn't realize there's a college soccer RPI.

Lots of guys from KU in the pros this year, but seemingly some taking their swan song. Not sure why Och and Grady's minutes are limited in Toronto, but they are. Wilson doing about the same with the Nets. Embiid's production is waning as is Higgins...or is it Wiggins? Oubre and Grimes are still productive pro's but I am way more impressed by grinders who hung around KU and made a name here for themselves like SVI. He scored 28 tonight for Utah!! Braun's still starting, but not scoring a ton, which isn't his role anyways.

Oh and in 5 minutes of action Hunter was 1-2 and had a block and 2 fouls and 2 turnovers. That's a lot of bad to fit into 5 minutes. But those are his only minutes he's played.

How about that! The women come back from a 0-1 deficit against 12th ranked Colorado and 3rd seed in the tournament and defeat the Bovines 2-1. Spectacular finish to tie the match early in the 2nd and then with 15 a youngster got her first collegiate goal, kind of an own goal actually as it was deflected past the goalie.

This is a really strong KU team, despite their 7th seed in the tournament. They have a 14-4-3, with a tie against 2nd ranked FSU. They have a prolific offense and have shown remarkable comeback ability. They play 8th seeded BYU in the conference championship, you read that right. They were ranked until we beat them (read about that match just above).

When Lovie Smith got hired by the Bears nearly 20 years ago he said his goal was to beat the Packers, something not happening much at that point. He started out 7-3 against them, finished 8-11. I'm not close to firing Leopold, but having a coach make a statement like this really would endear him to the KU faithful.

@drgnslayr I listen to Locked on Jayhawks, but I find it a bit dull as he talks all sort of advanced stats and my eyes glaze over trying to make sense of it all.

14 bench points is a bit concerning when we're playing a doormat like UWGB. If Dick Bennett was still their coach we'd be having a heck of a fight on our hands, but that's ancient history for at least some of you.

KU womens soccer up 1-0 with 3o minutes left in 2nd half in the Big 12 quarterfinals. KU is 7 seed, the hillbillies of WVU are the 2 seed so this is a minor upset in the making, but KU has a pretty solid side this year so it's not going to be a surprise if they pull this one out.

@kjayhawks Yeah this game would've clinched a bowl game had we not choked that Cincy game away. I think that's the loss that really stings. Missouri didn't sting as much as it was kind of expected. Wasn't surprised to lose the last two. Of our last three games, Utah is the most likely loss, although it's a home game for us and if we're fighting for a bowl game it might be doable. Zona and ISU are crap shoots.

Jalon Daniels. 18 TD's 3 ints. I don't think there's another QB who's doing that for this team this year. He has his faults I acknowledge but he's our best QB BY FAR since Reesing. The injury bug from a couple of years ago put a damper on his career, and the Grimes effect last year neutered all of the fabulous receivers we had. Last year should have been an offensive juggarnaut but Grimes malpracticed us out of even a garbage bowl game.

Kind of a low key funny comment. Usually the top teams have to watch out for the trap games, not teams struggling to make it to 6 wins!

There's a fantastic podcast called the hoop dreams podcast. It's the two guys Gates and Agee that the Chicago hoops doc "Hoop Dreams" featured. I assume it's available through various outlets where you get your podcasts.

Discovered one this week with Mario Chalmers. Fantastic stuff in there. How we got him is told, and how we kept him.

There's a lot of episodes. I particularly liked the Isaiah Thomas episode. Lots of interesting social commentary in it.

The title is the hoops dream podcast. Look it up!

I hate then when a guy gives up a longish pass play, but then levels the receiver and he gets up celebrating. You gave up 15 yards to a 1-7 team and you celebrate because you hit the guy hard?

Went to watch channel 7 news at 10 last night. I always watch it on delay when it's convenient. No news last night. Gone from my YouTube tv.

Here's how bad ESPN is getting. If you go to their website right now the top story (this is on a computer, not a phone, but probably the same there) is the top women's teams for this season. Nothing about the world series until you scroll pass soccer, tennis, womens hoops, NBA. I wish I could say I'm not watching ESPN again, but football and college hoops so I must.

But to act like people don't care about the World Series is so short sided on their part. 32 million viewers watched game 1 world wide. If it goes 7 games and they throw Shohei again, see what those ratings are then. 12 million of those were US viewers which is kind of low I guess but those college games since Caitlin graduated? Back down to a little more than a million.

Rob Manfred is part of the viewership problem for baseball I believe. He will not try to compete with NFL football. Last week game 7 of the ALCS was on FS1, not Fox which was showing cartoons. Can you imagine letting fox show cartoons instead of your league when you're the commissioner and you have a broadcasting agreement with Fox? I admit I don't have the knowledge of how this all works, but baseball alienates fans who want to watch their team so much it's unbelievable. Blackout rules (I got MLB subscription this year and couldn't watch the sox, local team on it), horrible postseason scheduling decisions, and a refusal to air important playoff games on free over the air TV are the biggest gripe I've got. They're heading towards another lockout in the 2027 season over salary cap issues which will damage them even further.

@FarmerJayhawk Except the last two seasons we had quite a few conference games on ESPN+ when we weren't quite up to must see watching.

@BeddieKU23 Other than Peacock games (which totally suck for sports) there must be some demand for KU games. It seems the tv guys want KU to make them some money on the regular channels. I hope we can deliver a strong season and get back into the national spotlight.

Did we win?

Haven't watched volleyball at all, but have caught quite a bit of soccer action. 6-3-1 big 12 record. 12-3-2 overall. Weird trip to Utah. 2 matches in 4 days means a 5 day stay in the beehive state. The win over BYU was exhilarating as BYU, a top 10 team most of the year tried to mount a comeback from down 3-nil. KU gave up 1 goal, but under an intense barrage for the last 20 minutes the defense held strong. Big 12 tournament is next. It will surprise no one if KU repeats as conference tournament champs, but it's a pretty tall task.

Buyout? We're talking buyout? Come on now, that's foolish talk.

We'll get them next year.
