Agree big time there. I dont think Achiuwa was staying home to play at his brothers school anyway but the move makes it a certainty.
Nobody should be surprised that Nike wins that recruitment

LETS GET RJ HAMPTON. WOOOO. lol...
Memphis
I could care less how we do it but we need a full 13. Just to deal with guys who cant play via eligibility, injury, who knows what else but we are great at having a less then 100% roster by the time it matters
Come on down, literally anyone that can play the 4 and stretch the court. Dont know who it will be
KU swung and missed a lot in a few classes.
The success of future classes is self sticking with an offensive scheme. Going back to hi low 3-2 traditional after years of the 4-1 is disastrous to recruiting. Guys have no idea what style they are going into. This is how KU builds for the future, recruit to the style and stick with it. Guys know what Coach K is running, what Roy is running. The list goes on and on. What is KU running? I honestly dont know as a fan.

Thomas Allen to NC State.
I knew this for a few days. Adidas has always taken care of him
I believe I said athlete that can shoot. Beverly is a capable 3 point shooter as far as I have seen from games this season. He is one of montverde's best on the team
Enaruna is 6'7, 6'8ish not that rumored 6'10. Long ways to go with this guy. Long and lean. Has tools but will take a few years

Ha I was just coming to say I got the math right, just a few hours off.
He Almost left last yr. It is a bit surprising he is leaving when he had a good chance to lead them next yr
Are you talking Stanley or Beverly?
Not surprising. Wish him the best
Well latest news today is Jamie Dixon is in talks to become the next coach. I wouldn't be surprised if his first phone call as coach was to the Stanley's.
I'm sure despite no relationship he'd probably stay home
Its scary how similar their season's were. Blackshear is a better athlete

Names from yesterday. Nothing excitable
Jahvon Quinerly - Villanova Diva
Anthony Mack- Miami
Malik Ellison- Pitt
Jake Forrester- Indiana
Justice Sueing- Cal
Lamarr Kimble- St Joseph's 15ppg
Eww
You guys are right. I can't COUNT
We had Vick, Dotson, Moore, Garrett, Agbaji, Lawson & Grimes at Guard/Wing. (7)
Dedric, Azubuike, De Sousa, McCormack & Lightfoot, in the post. (5)
Vick leaves the team. Moore transfers. (-2)
Signed recruits- McBride & Braun (+2)
Technically KU has 12 scholarship players at the moment. We all know that's unlikely to stick.
We have 2. Only had 12 players this yr
KU was one of his options but I think he did a good job of ruining his short term career after his immaturity shined through early in the season
Brutal. This kid would start if he came here. I had no idea where he went after leaving Dooley. I remember him at FGCU and he was good then. Seems like he's a grown man now.
Hoping we can get in serious with him despite the UNC area connection
This is sort of one of those Mitchell Robinson type cases. A talented player with a lot of ears telling him one thing and reality being another. Lecque could have technically tried to enroll in College this past year but he wouldn't have qualified at most schools. He went to Brewster for a reason (academics being the biggest). I'm not sure he would get qualified at NC St if he did go. Tennessee backed off at the end with those same concerns.
I agree that the OAD rule ending might cause an initial wave of players wanting to try and get to the league ASAP. I think it will take some time to know the year to year expectations of what kids these days may do. I think NBA GM's have gotten smarter as well. I can't imagine the College game will allow the HS ranks too many combine invites (they may have to extend the total) to meet the demand.
Kcmatt7 said:
Would not be shocked to see Blackshear grad transfer.
Would take Dedric Lawson 2.0 with some hops anyday
Jalen Lecque will try and go to the NBA from High School. Looks like he'll have a good chance of getting approved to do so.
As my friend told me who worked with him this season, he has some bad influences in his corner. Huge gamble for this kid. Needs a lot of work.
He checked out after what 2 weeks into the season. Not a player you want until he grows up
Oregon's tourney success likely left a good impression on Stanley. He's been very quiet for a while. I know KU did a great job on his official. All you can hope for at that point. They have recruited him a long time.
I like how Cassius has progressed and become more then the high flyer he's been known to be. He plays within a team structure and he'll come into college old for his class which doesn't hurt from a maturity/college ready perspective. He improved his shooting "dramatically" as the Los Angeles Daily News reported on him last week.
Buzz HopYear should be his new last name. Seems to go to a new school every few years

Part of re-tooling this group is understanding that Garrett and Lightfoot are not starters on next year's team. Penciling either of those guys in as a starter automatically caps the potential of that team.
Both are good role players that should figure into the rotation. But if either is playing more than 20 mpg, we already know they aren't making it past the Sweet Sixteen.
You are 100% right about the offense being flawed with Garrett. If Braun and Agbaji fill out the perimeter with Dotson, and Garrett comes off the bench, that's a good start. Or if KU finds another freshman here late (or a grad transfer) to fill that other wing spot, that helps a lot. The team should build around Lightfoot and Garrett as the sixth and seventh (or seventh and eighth) guys, not the fourth and fifth or fifth and sixth.
I don't believe Self plans on starting Lightfoot. He'll likely have the same role he's had every year. But who knows if Self doesn't land a high level recruit or graduate transfer and doesn't have Silvio eligible he won't have much choice..
Garrett on the other hand is Self's guy. @HighEliteMajor mentioned like a "teacher's pet". Every team defended KU with him on the court basically the same. It was a fatal flaw for the offense. How do you hide a perimeter player that has no confidence or consistency in his shot? Probably hard to do. I know this board talked about Azubuike being a dying breed in the sport, a true down low back to basket post player.
Players like Garrett are imo a bigger hindrance to team success in today's game on offense. Perimeter players have higher usage and see the ball more often. For his career Marcus is a 43% shooter, 25% from 3 and 55% from the FT line. Atrocious numbers. Can't happen again. Self's teams may be flawed until Marcus leaves campus. We know he's going to play. He played 26 minutes a game sick and less then 100% on the ankle. 100% healthy he's a 30+ minute guy.
Not much from yesterday..
Max Hazzard- UC Irvine transfer. Was the key to beating Kansas St in the first round of the NCAA tourney. Lead the team in scoring and made 93 3's this season.
updated original post to include players KU has officially reached out to.

Bear in mind Jenkins is not eligible to play next year, has to sit out. So he'd be a long term addition.
He isn't w/o issue. Very poor defender, not a great athlete and had a Dedric like usage rate this year.
Big time shooter and shot maker though.
Hawk8086 said:
@BShark Is Beverly a shooter?
That was his role at montverde. Good athlete as well, better then Grimes in that regard.

All I know is that Carsen Edwards kid is a stud, and has nerves of steel. Yes, I know his 6'0", so if a lecture about short guys in the NBA is coming, I get it. Please deem me lectured.
He was a ton of fun to watch Saturday night. Tournament record 28 3's in 4 games. He definitely put in the work this past off-season on his body. I think he sticks in the league, scoring is in his DNA

David Jenkins is transferring from SDSU. 6β2 guard who averaged 20 points a game and shoots 45% from 3.
On 247 attempts. Would take in a heartbeat
Texas Tech's run to the Final 4 is one KU should be looking at closely. Beard took a core of Culver, Moretti Odiase & Francis and didn't miss a beat. He plugged in Mooney and Owens from other schools as 1 year rentals and it all clicked. He got Corphew & Edwards to come in off the bench and play like starters. His highest rated recruit from the 2018 class didn't even play a game. That's a team that clicked and there's no rhyme or reason for predicting it.
The other 3, Michigan St, Auburn & Virginia have are enjoying the fruit of years of chemistry and development from the past 3 years. All 3 have exited the tourney in recent years in the first weekend. How many more years will it take all 3 to redevelop another set of core players.
The returning core players are still a bunch that can't shoot. Dotson and Agbaji struggled with confidence in their shot down the stretch. I know, it's a lot to ask for freshman. Maybe they improve with the expected leap in their developments.
We all know Garrett's struggles. That's a guy that's going to play 30 minutes a night. If he doesn't fix it, the offense will be flawed no matter who's around him.
Interesting that you have heard rumors of the AD and Self not being on the same page. That only adds to the importance of the off-season.
I think Hurt is the most important recruit in the Self era. Not because he is a Wiggins talent, but because KU needs some momentum and something good to happen on the recruiting trail.
Great point. He is an important recruit. Can be the face of the class. On the court he fits the modern game. Fits the biggest need on the team if Silvio is not eligible. KU needs multiple bigs. Hurt at least gives KU a starter level one.
Agree on Adidas although its sad in the same light.
List approaching 500.
Bigger names yesterday: David Jenkins Jr- South Dakota St, Isiah Washington- Minnesota.
Quentin Aldesh (grad transfer) lands at USC. PG averaged 13 ppg at Columbia. Good 3 point shooter.

Agree he will probably be a late first this year. Talented player with a linebacker body
He can sell it but can he buy it...

That foul call on Devonte still chaffs my rear end.
It's the worst. See a few every game not called under the same circumstances. The nova player didnt have possession of the ball to make that call the way he did. They missed the 2 3 hand checks tho on devonte that caused the play. Bogus beyond belief
This team is at a real crossroads. This program is at a real crossroads. Unlike any year in the Self era imo.
The off-season might be as entertaining as the season was. So many unresolved decisions and potential NCAA roadblocks.
Starting from the Top:
Will the NCAA's investigation result in sanctions against the program?
Loss of Victories, Forfeit Final 4 banner, Coaching Change(s), Post-Season Ban, Reduction in Scholarships. Nothing can be completely wiped off the table. We have no idea what will happen and when it will happen.
Will KU sign its deal with Adidas?
Some seem to think the deal has already been signed in principle and the announcement has been delayed to avoid some negative media reaction that could occur. This is where the ultimate problem lies with the Current College Basketball culture. The lucrative deal on the table for KU to stay with Adidas despite what's happened from the FBI trial leaves the University in a pickle.
Will Bill Self return?
His most recent comments said yes, emphatically. One to monitor regardless.
Will Kurtis Townsend's phone call from the FBI trial land him on the hot seat? One to monitor as well.
The optics look really bad.
Will Silvio De Sousa win his appeal for next year?
Jeff Long's most recent comments said the appeal is still on-going. Can KU play and keep a player that is ultimately a big reason for the bigger issues surrounding the program (NCAA investigation). Can KU do the right thing- fighting for his eligibility while doing the wrong thing- accepting him back into the program upon favorable appeal ruling. It's another pickle.
The optics won't look good regardless.
Will all draft eligible players declare for the draft and leave KU?
Dedric Lawson is 100% leaving the program for a professional career. He put up historic numbers at KU and likely is graduating this spring.
Three others, Quentin Grimes, Udoka Azubuike & Silvio De Sousa could declare and leave as well.
Grimes has a chance to earn a combine invite. He could benefit from another year at KU to improve his game. He may also pursue a professional career after coming to KU as a highly decorated player that was projected Top 10 in the draft pre-season. Likely will declare and the test the waters at minimum. A combine invite and subsequent performance could sway his decision here. 50/50
Azubuike is still recovering from his season ending wrist injury. The timeline for his injury falls around the time the NBA draft will be happening. Udoka is one year away from graduation. There's incentives to return but also reasons to pursue a professional career when he's fully healed.
Silvio De Sousa is currently waiting for his appeal on his 2019-2020 eligibility. The answer will lie in the result. He could still leave even if he does gain his eligibility back. I think he'll be back if he wins his appeal. Significant chance he'd start at the PF spot.
A chance at more transfers?
Charlie Moore has officially left the program for various reasons on/off the court.
KJ Lawson could potentially graduate this spring/summer and pursue another opportunity after a very sporadic 1st season. With his brother leaving that could also have an impact. 50/50 I think.
Where's that leave KU next year?
KU could have as low as 5 scholarship players return, 7 counting the two signed 2019 recruits from November.
Charlie Moore's transfer opens 1 scholarship. KU had 12 eligible scholarship players this year which leaves 1 additional spot open.
The 4 draft eligible/transfer candidate's could open 4 additional spots. KU could have 6 spots to fill this off-season.
What's left.
A trio of to be Sophomore's who started Dotson (PG), Agbaji (SF) & McCormack ('C) will return.
Two additional role/starters in Lightfoot (PF/C) and Garrett (SG/SF) return as well.
Incoming guards Isaac McBride (PG/SG) & Christian Braun (SF) are both needs in the current game as they bring shooting, competitiveness and versatility to the program.
KU has extended 5 scholarship offers to High School Sr's undecided at this moment.
Top 10 players Matthew Hurt (PF), Precious Achiuwa (PF).
Top 100 players Cassius Stanley (SG/SF), Tristan Enaruna (SF/PF) & Harlond Beverly (SG).
Hurt, Achiuwa, Stanley have all officially visited campus.Hurt will announce April 19th. Achiuwa could take additional visits and could wait until May to decide. Stanley visited in the fall but has been quiet on his recruitment for a while.
Enaruna & Beverly have not visited. Enaruna hasn't taken an official visit yet. It's expected KU could get one of those when he decides to take some visits. Beverly just announced a Top 6 with KU. He unofficially visited Indiana (on his top 6) at the beginning of March. Alabama, Georgia & KU offered him this week and made his list. Baylor offered in 2017, Miami offered in December.
Transfer Market:
Nothing official about targets yet. One named floated around is Matt Ryan from Vanderbilt but that hasn't been confirmed.
What does everyone think?? Was this the end of great Era or will Bill Self figure this out and have a fresh start??

My lord what a cesspool the replies are. Expected but still...
Anyway, he'd be a great get.
He is a lot better then I thought. Ideal 2 guard imo. I think Harris is better personally as a shooter but Beverly is an athlete that can shoot. Heck I'd take both
