I would imagine the opponent would force the pass to Agbaji, who is not a good ball handler.
Where is the write up on the injury?
We don’t yet know how dangerous the new coronavirus is, and we won’t know until more data comes in. The mortality rate is around 2% in the epicentre of the outbreak, Hubei province, and less than that elsewhere. For comparison, seasonal flu typically has a mortality rate below 1% and is thought to cause about 400,000 deaths each year globally.
Even though it wasn't in the plans, he has spent 4 years here and probably has a deep appreciation for the program and all surrounding it. This place has been his family for four years, and he realizes that the end of all it has been to him is near.
@HawkChamp Have to agree with your final statement. If we had controlled that in-bounds pass, no 3 pointer would have gone in; we would have most likely been fouled and hopefully had hit the free throws, which would have made a much nicer lead of 5 or 6.
I would guess that for the few end-game situations that have been brought up that there have been many more handled very favorably.
Hopefully we will see similar improvements in McCormick as we have seen in Doke.
We survived a game without Devon; not sure we could survive one without Doke.
Fortunately, he doesn't seem to let his offense affect his defense. He has been pretty solid defensively. Braun looked a bit lost defensively at times yesterday, but he seems to find a way to stir things up and come up with loose balls quite often.
Against OSU I think Braun and McCormick need to be ready to play bigger minutes. Possibly even Enaruna.
He and Braun are much alike, and when you really look at them, not a great deal of difference in their experience.
Any update on Teague?
This team seems to be acquiring the belief that they have another gear when it's called for.
It's almost as if you can see that focus become stronger when needed in a game, especially after they have lost that focus for a few minutes and the other team really takes advantage of us.
You don't think that Iowa St. won't have some momentum after blowing out Texas? I know this team is showing tremendous progress in so many areas, and I too have confidence we'll win. However, too often we have seen huge favorites not prepared mentally.
I hope the players/coaches are more focused on the game tonight than what fans and media seem to be.
This team has continually improved, especially on the defensive end. It almost seems as if they are feeding off one another because of their defensive effort. Great defense will always give a team a chance to win.
@drgnslayr Close ties with the head coach and we needed to even the score.
@nuleafjhawk "I know that I lean towards innocence and naïveté so it's good..."
I'm right there with you.
@FarmerJayhawk To a person, all highly successful college coaches are control freaks who would lie, cheat, or steal to win. Just go down the list: Saban, Dabo, K, Roy, Calipari, Self, Dean, Knight, etc. Like it or not, that’s the price of sustaining success. All have obviously flaunted the rules and say they run a program “the right way.”
I think I would have to agree with you on this point. Years ago if a school was penalized, I would guess the infraction was blatant, or over the top. Definitely don't agree with the idea that to keep up with everyone else, a coach needs to cheat, but how does this problem get stopped?
@drgnslayr Maybe we could get WSU as an exhibition; they could take the place of Fort Hays or Emporia or Pitt State!!!!
Waiting for us to barely score 40 and still win.
Didn't see Duke or Kentucky mentioned anywhere in the article.
One or two play hard while the others stand and watch
@BeddieKU23 That was how Dotson played the first half. A point guard needs to run the team, not look for his own shot.
Hard to imagine that a player considered All- American type potential has to be motivated. Taking too much for granted.
Players who need to be the leaders seem distracted; definitely not into the game.
@jayballer73 No one knows except those in the NCAA offices. One would hope that those in power would use common sense and realize that a coach cannot be in control of every players' actions and behaviors at all times. Too many instances of players losing control of their emotions for the NCAA to label all coaches as not having institutional control.
@Kcmatt7 You're probably right about not talking about it come March, but I'd be willing to bet we hear about it from opponents and the media.
Hopefully, all involved can take something positive from it, accept any consequences, and move on.
@kjayhawks Isn't that big of a deal? Perception is huge; how will our administration perceive the incident? How will other schools perceive it? How will recruits perceive it? How does the media perceive it?
Doesn't matter who started it and we don't need to blame others; we can't condone or rationalize such actions as part of sport.
@benshawks08 Unfortunately, it seems so many in our world of sport seem to think that is part of the game: do what we can to belittle the other person/team, don't take any crap from him/them, etc. As coaches, we need to teach our athletes how to learn to walk away and let the opponent figure out how to deal with it.
@BigBad Yes, but turns out there was one second left.
@BigBad The game wasn't over; everyone thought it was
Wasn't there a big fight involving Cincinnati and Xavier a few years back? What happened as a result of that?

They are only suspended for the next game if they participated in the fight. The NCAA Case Book covers this situation.
A.R. 276. A6 and B6 leave the bench because a fight has broken out. A6 and B6 do not participate in the fight. RULING: A6 and B6 shall be ejected. No free-throw penalties or technical fouls shall be assessed to A6 and B6 or the coaches of Team A and Team B. Because neither participated in the fight, no fighting penalty or suspension shall be invoked against them.
And the NCAA Rule Book talks about suspensions for being involved in the fight in Rule 10-5: Art. 11. The first time an individual participates in a fight during the season (including exhibition games), the individual shall be suspended from participating in the team’s next regular-season game (not an exhibition contest), including tournament competition.
@DanR What about our players and coaches?
NCAA Ejection and Suspension Summary. Penalty – Player is suspended for the remainder of the contest. Penalty – Offending play and Head Coach is suspended for the remainder of contest or if prior to the game the complete game. Penalty – Suspended for the remainder of the contest and the following 3 games.
Is this applicable here?
If a player is ejected, isn't he then suspended for the next game? Or is there an exception to that?
So any conjecture whether we will have more than 3 players for Saturday's game?
@DCHawker Point guard 0 assists.
@BShark Dok is good when teams allow him to do his thing. Otherwise, he can be non-existent.
Most unusual mascots would make for an interesting read; here in Colorado we have two that I've never seen: Brush Beetdiggers and Rocky Ford Meloneers. Both are very appropriate to their agricultural roots.
@tundrahok Probably a large lake or two nearby as well as rivers.
Mascots are funny when it comes to location - where should Pitt State be located?
Having guards for 4 years can be tremendous, as we have seen. Really don't think the staff would have offered and signed if they hadn't seen something special.
I don't see a dominant team or two. There are some who should be better than most teams they play, but they will lose several because of various factors: many really good players on a large number of teams, lack of focus on favored team's part, bad free throw shooting, who gets more 50/50 balls, who is more aggressive, etc.
The state of college basketball today. Good players and good teams all over the place will lead to more upsets such as this one.
Hasn't Enaruna shown up on some draft boards?
John Hadl, Ben Heeney, Bobby Douglass, Ray Evans, John Zook, Kerry Meier, David Jaynes, Laverne Smith, Mike Wellman, George Harvey, Doyle Schick - I'm sure the list goes on and on of Kansas players who did well at KU, and many of them went on to good NFL careers. Granted that states such as Texas have many more such players, but it is hard for us to realize how important high school football is to people of that state as well as to other southern states.
In today's world of instant gratification, it still is amazing that both of those guys came back for the final year.
Frank needs to talk with him
True. I do think he needs to be more of a true floor leader before finding success at the next level.
Too old to remember how Frank was as a leader when he was a soph. Do believe that Devon will get there once all of these guys get more comfortable playing together. It's easy to get down on them when we expect so much. They all want to do well and perhaps are trying too hard at times.
Moss and Enaruna will continue to make this team better.
