The student capacity hasnāt changed. Itās probably more of a generational thing. Among zoomers, interest and attendance in sports has declined from previous generations. And itās not NIL/portal/whatever, itās in pro sports too. The data are out there if you want to look it up. Shoot, even Nick Saban got cranky with his student section a couple years ago. As tech has gotten more advanced, itās definitely more tempting to just watch on your 60ā flatscreen than putting together a camping group (compounded by Gen Z spending far less time in in-person social activities than in older generations), actually camping for days, getting to the game 2 hours early, then spending 2 hours at the game.
@Texas-Hawk-10 yeah 1-5 on really good looks. And he got abused on the boards.

Allette is nasty man
Also an early transfer possibility last year but WHEW DRAMA
He'd have Bill back at KU med
Yeah when you get yeeted from Old Dominion for being a problemā¦
This one showed what happens when you play Bill Self ball. You play unselfishly, you guard, you score.

@Texas-Hawk-10 KU chose not to really pursue Knecht, correct.
That'd be a @FarmerJayhawk question. Unless KU is recruiting a kid from the Houston area, I'm not well connected into recruiting anymore.
That said, I don't recall ever hearing or seeing anything about KU looking at Knecht two years ago. KU is one of the premier programs out there and I'd imagine that a lot of transfers are going to listen when KU calls.
Yeah, he was such a bad defender on a really bad Northern Colorado team and there were concerns about his athleticism. Hindsight is 20/20 but he didnāt have that impressive an offer list

Iām stoked! Dennis Allen as DC is a really smart play as well. He flamed out as a HC but is a really good coordinator.

@Jhawk69 Cliff wasnāt some significantly worse defender
Jamari was good for a chase down lebron block but he was poor in half court and zero threat offensively at the 4 spot (sound familiar)
The excuse of oh he will pick it up in his second year is trash. You have a long armed athletic big and if you canāt teach him to semi defend in 4-6 months you arenāt good at your job. It shouldnāt take that long to teach defense to a stud high school big who had lateral quickness.
Hey speaking of that 4 man not being a threat to score letās add some more proofā¦.
That year ended inā¦.you guessed it a rd of 32 double digit loss 78-65 to wsu of all teams
Our team had Mason, Graham, Oubre, Selden and Ellis - didnāt get the talent together to score but rather āmake guys play worse than usā.
Better to just focus on you playing your best consistentlyā¦.
When you start to really dig in it gets ugly with all the talent weāve had.
I heard Tony Bennett of the Midwest and itās legitimately true as of today. Consistent, won some conference titles, flame out early a lot. Got 1 legit
Title with the 3 year guys returning in 2008.2022 guys returning and the portal miracle. Other portal years arenāt even coming close which is the frustration
Perry wasnāt a threat to score? Wow thatās a take. That team was also ravaged by injuries by the end. Wayne and Perry were hurt. Cliff had his family issues. The guy that Bill refused to play (BIFM) played 34 MPG that year. Cliff was an absolute foul magnet. He never played man defense in high school (he was the middle of the 2-3 back line) so every minute was a learning experience. As such, he messed up A LOT.
Thereās so much revisionist history around Remy, Cliff, and Cheick itās impossible to have a conversation. The underlying facts arenāt debatable yet people shoehorn their narratives anyway. Cheickās advanced stats in league play werenāt even that good. And one thing around Landen. Doke passed him a handful of games before he got hurt. Can folks do basic research before popping off? Who would you have played at the 5 other than Landen against Oregon? Dwight? We steamrolled the field before running into Nova in 16.
The Tony Bennett comp is laughable. Bill hasnāt gone a season without a tournament win (barring crazy circumstances) in 20 years. Bennett hasnāt won a tournament game in 5 years.
ISU and Zona losing helps us a lot in the league race

We canāt play two negative guys at the same time. Gotta sub one guy at a time. What r your thoughts about rylan?
He was definitely a mixed bag. The one drive and turnover was absolutely awful but he did have the nice assist to Hunt. TCU is a better matchup for him.
They play mostly smaller around old friend Big Ern so it should be a good AJ/Griffen game. I really like our guards vs. theirs as well. Allete is the loosest cannon and Shak/Juan will really bother him. Reynolds is a lot better but those two guys are really their entire offense.
Iām a little disappointed in the effort. I didnāt have as much of a problem with playing time (except that stretch with Kease and Diggy) but there were way too many lapses. Giving up 45 in the second to an absolute garbage team is straight bad. Gotta clean that up before Wednesday.

Bill will play a proven player alongside two newbies in the backcourt. They wonāt kick Coit to the curb either. Heās a good deep bench piece that understands how to play here. And with revshare itās good money to pass up.

@Texas-Hawk-10 In 2018 the number one defensive team in the nation lost to a 16 seed
When you pride yourself on defense from 2015 on that isnāt the best way to win. Slowing down the game, limiting possessions are all things bad teams want good teams to do.
Offensive ranking from 2015 on is a better indicator
So fast tempo, got it. KU's tempo is faster than Auburn, Duke, and Tennessee's and not much slower than ISU's and none of those teams are top 100 in tempo. There's only 1 team in Kenpom's top 5 that has a top 100 tempo. Looks like other good teams, including pretty much all of the title contenders, prefer playing at a slower tempo as well.
Maybe KU isn't playing nearly as slow as you think they are.
Of the last 10 national champions, more have been outside the top 300 in tempo than inside the top 100. Kind of a crazy stat but then again Nova, UConn, Virginia, and KU all play some kind of motion that lends itself to working into the shot clock. Bama is really the outlier among recently really good teams that plays fast.

Tightening the rotation, getting Shak, and changing how we use Hunter on D have all really helped. Weāre hedging him way less and it allows him to play to his strengths. Heās a good positional defender in the post, and has pretty good hands without fouling.

@SlimShaddy54 theyād take another young guy if the fit was there
Updated counts. It reflects all portal commitments and early enrollees. It does not reflect the 10 freshmen that will enroll in June. So that puts us at 81. I think we still need a punter (duh), a DE, a LB, and a DB. Maaaayybe another WR and DB.

@stoptheflop said in 2025 Schedule:
Looking ahead, the schedule has two home games, Fresno St and Wagner(?), then 3 away games, Missou, Ariz and ISt, 4 home games, Utah, OKSt, KSt, Cinci, then the final 2 games away, TX Tech and Centr Fla. Wagner College is in Staten Island. Current enrollment is about 2000 students. The football team plays in a 3300 seat stadium. So, where can next year's team get 6 wins to be bowl eligible? This sucks watching KState, Nebr and so many other teams play in bowl games. I'm still butthurt by the Baylor beat down.
Wagner, Fresno, Utah, Cincy, OSU, and then just win a single one of the road games.
Also think that we get KSU this year. I think we can beat TTU on a good day.
We win 6 this coming season.
Honestly I think 10 or so are winnable. UCF under Frost doesnāt scare me. 2-1 non-con then weāll probably be favored in 5+ conference games? Arizona seems to be on a downward trajectory plus we should be favored in most home games plus at UCF. 6 is very doable and I think weāre a dark horse to get to Arlington as long as we finish strong in the portal.
We know the opponents but donāt have the actual league schedule yet.
@SlimShaddy54 Hishaw should be back
Make it 3 today: Levi Wentz, a WR from Albany.
@SlimShaddy54 Diego Pavia, the Vandy QB who filed the suit and currently the only person who this applies to.
It only applies to Pavia since itās just a preliminary injunction. There are questions now about will the NCAA enforce it going forward (probably not) and whether theyāll also consider it retroactively. Lots to play out yet.
@Crimsonorblue22 never entered š
Also. Hishaw should be back. But itās fluid right now. Above the neck stuff is always really tricky
So I was at my local watering hole the other night watching my Bears and sat by one of my good friends who happens to be a KSU fan, but all around super dude.
Anyway, turns out heās a regular golfing buddy with one KJ Adams. And he just raved and raved about how good a dude he is and how down to earth he is. Apparently his girlfriend is going to be a PT and also really has it together. He sucks at golf but can hit it a mile lol.
