Langford was 4/12 field goals in 31 minutes during an exhibition victory over a Southern Indiana. 4 rebounds and 1 assist. 5 turnovers. This Buckets group would have crucified him.... š¤£š¤£š¤£
Glad KU won. Now Iām torn for the rest of the year! My o/u guess was 3. š¤
@approxinfinity - Personal impact by illegals? Yes. I live in SoCal where we have a true melting pot. And, yes I have a degree from Pittsburg State in accounting and finance. I'm a CPA and have been in management positions all my working life.
- Rented a property to an illegal family based on false documents from them and the county. As a result it took me 3 months and $4K to remove them.
- Schools here are heavily populated with Latinos who speak no English, yet are placed in classes K-12. My grandchildren are faced with a slower pace of learning, Hispanic cliques and bullying. They canāt wear American flag symbols on their clothing because it creates animosity among other races. I have relatives and friends who teach at the high school level. It is common for classes to be disrupted, as well as the aforementioned learning, clique and bullying issues. Mexican flags, for whatever reason, are common. I know several teachers who quit over these issues because administration would not support them. Minorities cannot be failed without significant review ā district policy.
- Until I retired, I managed a million sq ft distribution center in LA. We hired people who later turned out to have fraudulent SSNās, false I-9ās and also clique issues. Often, termination was required for these violations and it was frustrating spending training time these people (then terminating), researching drug sales (then terminating) and arbitrating issues among various groups. There was quite a bit of animosity. Iāve been accused of racism for terminating guilty parties.
- I live in a medium sized town where almost all retail, common maintenance and other unskilled labor is performed by Hispanics. Generally, they do good work. Conversely, the area is becoming much less safe as indicated by Sheriffās reports, drugs and violence is rampant based upon such reports and news articles. ICE and the Border Patrol are fairly active here.
In short, living in āsocialistā California is no longer pleasant. If this is the future of America, Iām worried. Perhaps your world is populated by a majority of white people but mine isnāt. Values are changing quickly here and Iām expected to accept it. SOOO glad Iām retired. Maybe I should move back to Kansas or maybe Texasā¦.
Done rantingā¦.. I wonāt read the political section of KU Buckets any more.
@kcmatt7 - your statements and supporting references are elitist and condescending to those without a college degree. It effectively calls everyone who is conservative or without a college degree āuneducatedā and infers they are fearful and unable to think for themselves. Immigration effects all of us through taxes, not jobs. It takes away money from deserving US homeless, military and blue collar. Iām quite disappointed you believe that way. So what if a conservative doesnāt have a college degree? Donāt you think they are largely hard-working and contributing to the economy? They may be, for all you know, secure in their jobs and not afraid an illegal immigrant will usurp their work. You may be unaffected in your high paying upper echelon job, but the rest of us arenāt!
@Kcmatt7 - š. Large amount of opinion there.
Why in the world do you say āuneducated lean Republican and conservativeā? Unsupported statement.
āRepublicans make significantly less than seems and are less likely to be college educatedā?
Wow. Just - wow.

Just getting a chance to listen to the whole thing. Self was very direct and basically begged for questions, give me your best shot type attitude is what I saw. Definitely impressed how he attacked this head on.

I think the starting lineup discussion for kenyucky should be on ukbuckets.com. :)
I clicked on that link. It actually works, just not the way you think...
@mayjay - oddly enough, ASU is closer to the Grand Canyon. Better bars/night life and MUCH more attractive women. Uh, so a friend tells me. š¬ Iām going to the ASU game, too. And a few beers in Scottsdale!
AZ must have outstanding facilities. Iāve been to Tucson many times. Heck, I was just there Saturday.
- middle of nowhere, 2 hours south of PHX by car
- desert landscaping with dust storms and nasty rain storms
- no direct flights
- nice winters, but 115 degrees in the summer (8 months every year)
- Campus is OK but nothing like KU, UK, Duke, North Carolina
Whatās the draw???
@BShark - Hey! I care about Pitt State athletics! And the Gorillas might beat KU in football.... š
Glad to see ya back! Missed all your comments and opinions..... but - are you typing one handed with your arm in a sling?

Someone of unquestionable integrity who has been rumored to have been cheating on his wife since he set foot in Kansas and probably long before that. This attitude of putting Coach on a pedestal is unrealistic and tiring. Bill Self is a genius but he's playing the game that every coach in America is playing. Am I surprised? No. Am I disappointed? No. I'm just mad we got caught.
You must be from Kentucky or KSU. Are the sheep still huddling on the other side of the barn?

@DanR His mother being Canadian, this sounds like a Loonie story to me.
I see what you did there. š¤£š¤£
Maybe I have an incorrect definition of ādefraudedā, but it seems like the teams who were āin playā for player but lost out due to, shall we say, better offers - arenāt those the the teams defrauded? Of course, that assumes a player would have definitely attended a different school if it werenāt for āthe offerā. (All those 90%+ guys on Crystal Ball that suddenly and oddly picked a different school, for instance, at the last minute.)
Just for the sake of discussion, letās say this trial ends in an āinnocentā verdict. Does the FBI move on to try the remaining assistant coaches? Or is their entire case not worth pursuing (assuming itās still about defrauding)?
Let it play out, folks.....
@jayballer73 - where you been, dude? Everything OK? Miss your comments.....š§
The $2,500 aside, it could be the Maryland fan paid the workout guy directly and there is no paper trail involving the mentor. However, if SDS did train with the coach, thereās still the issue of how that all worked. It couldnāt have been free.

@Crimsonorblue22 Didn't notice...I'm just happy to have a winning KU team to watch in October for a change.
Have you not been following soccer? They are having an outstanding season too!
Living in Southern California, I get by with Internet, ROKU and Apple TV. For KU games, I get 5 months of Sling Orange @ $25/ month for KU games (except exhibitions). It has all the ESPN channels and is currently offering a free ROKU Express when you pay 2 months in advance. I dunno if ESPN+ is included in that. Anyone know?
@JAYHAWKFAN214 - Since the NCAA, in it's wisdom, allows any combination of two exhibition and/or secret scrimmages, K-State screwed some Kansas school out of part of their budget?
Don't the 2 exhibition games KU plays provide much of the budget revenue for those Div 2 schools?
Interesting read. Villanova has two against championship caliber teams. Michigan State will scrimmage Gonzaga before playing KU.
@BeddieKU23 - thanks for the work you put in here!
Are any of the remaining games winnable for KU? Iowa State is winning today, as is K-State. TCU?
@Woodrow - link for your info? It seems to be real time?
It would be nice to enable a variable font. The font displayed on my iPhone7+ is tiny for my eyes and hard to read. When I manually grow the font, it creates issues with moving it back and forth across the screen.
Thoughts?
Saw this in a Topeka CJ online article about the trial.
āKUās Silvio De Sousa is one of the players who was involved in such wars, according to Casey Donnelly, Gattoās attorney. Donnelly said Gatto paid $20,000 to steer the prized forward to KU after āUnder Armour had paid for De Sousa to [commit] to the University of Maryland,ā according to a Yahoo Sports report.
Donnelly vowed to provide evidence showing Gattoās payments were made with the knowledge of some highly paid coaches, Yahoo Sports reported.
With regard to De Sousa, Donnelly said Gatto was asked to match the Under Armour offer so De Sousa ācould go to Kansas,ā but she didnāt specify who asked for the offer to be matched.
De Sousaās name previously had been connected to the corruption probe, but Donnellyās statement marked the first time Gatto admitted paying for the 6-foot-9 Angolan to come to KU.ā
Every other article Iāve seen said the payment to his guardian for āreimbursement to UAā.
š¤š§
@wissox - Red Sox had an outstanding record. What are your thoughts? I know little about them. Will they struggle in the playoffs?
Thanks, @1JayhawkLifer. It will be interesting to find out if there is a paper trail to SDS guardian that may implicate Maryland and/or KU.
Is Silvioās guardian on the witness list?
As I understand it, supposedly Under Armour paid SDSās guardian. The guardian had to reimburse UA when SDS decided to commit to Kansas and the guardian had to reimburse UA. Allegedly, thatās where Adidas stepped up and either reimbursed UA or the guardian for his payment back to UA. IMO.
SDS is called out in the document. However, I see nothing about Arizona????
By waiting one year, Svi has become a media darling! āCanāt miss!ā!!!
Yeah, Iām gonna wait for the season. I should find some highlights out there.
Svi continues to impress at Lakers camp....

@jayballer73 - youāre having waaaaay too much fun!
Per Adam Zagoria, Hamptonās dad said RJ will not be attending Late Night.
āHe wonāt attend Kansasā āLate Night in the PHog,ā but will be at the USA Basketball minicamp in Colorado Springs, Col., Oct 5-7, and will then visit Kentucky for Big Blue Madness Oct. 12.ā
I think these guys should do the Maori āhakaā before each game. It will scare the heck out of the opposition! These KU players are fine physical specimens!
Look at the arms on Lightfoot. Couple of years in Hudyās program does amazing things!
I have it now and weāall see how it goes. Thanks, @KUSTEVE !
@JayHawkFanToo - I donāt see an app for KUSports in the iTunes Store. I have found these articles at the very bottom of the mobile site. And they show up on my PC just where you mentioned. Iāll just have to do a bit more scrolling, looks like....
@KUSTEVE - sorry, still not seeing it on my iPhone7. There is no middle column and the stories you mentioned arenāt there - no stories. Iāll try my iPad then my PC. Aggravating...
Nothing new posted regarding basketball at KUSports.com since 9/17. I think the sight has great in-season game recaps and stories.
Ollie took one for the team! Although, at the end, it didnāt appear everyone thanked/congratulated Ollie. But heās a lot more famous than me... š¤£
Bill is looking good! Lost a lot of weight...
It appears Hudy will work wonders with him over the next years....
