@Hawk8086

KU is going to have whole lot of beef up front; it now has the personnel to beat up on any other front line.

@Crimsonorblue22

I was referring to allegations in general that now are enough to cause programs to back off from prospects even if they prove later not to be true. In this particular case we know he pleaded guilty to a lesser offense.

Loved Reader's Digest, I would read it cover to cover when growing up.

Looks like it is official. 2 Chainz has ties to Adidas which I am sure helped; he is 6’5” and played some college ball.

According to KUsports. com...

”2 Chainz has strong ties to Adidas, which not long ago released a shoe — dubbed the Top Ten Hi “2 Good 2 Be TRU.” — inspired by the name of the rapper's first headlining tour and the company's collaboration with the Georgia-based rapper.”

Maybe he can unveil a new follow up song...2 Good 2 Be TRU - Going to KU

I personally have no clue who he is and never heard any of his “music.” I will have to ask my grandkids about it.:smiley:

@Texas-Hawk-10

Fluke or no fluke, what do you think the score will be when KU plays at a OU November 17 with the current scheme? Do you think Army has better players than KU?

Seth Littrell - My new Number 1 Candidate • Sep 23, 2018 02:50 PM

@Kcmatt7

Realistically, who expects KU to win a football NC? Nobody, not even the biggest fans or donors; a respectable season is what most expect or hope. With its rich elite basketball history KU will likely never be a football powerhouse anymore than UK, Duke or UNC. Sure, there will be some good or even very good years like some of the Mangino years but 7-10 win seasons and a bowl is probably the best outcome...it sure beats what we have had the last decade or for that matter the great majority of the program’s history.

KU should look at Army’s game plan against OU. It was masterful. It controlled the tempo and clock, had the ball for almost 45 minutes, piled up 339 yards against powerhouse OU, on the road while completing only 3 passes. Look at the picture below and see how well Army used the clock, methodically driving the length of the field using big chunks of time.

Now, I don’t believe Army has better players than KU, however, it appears to be a more disciplined and much better coached team than KU is now and came within a wisker of upsetting OU at home. One can only hope KU does half as well.

BAD NEWS FOR DA BEARS • Sep 23, 2018 01:07 PM

@kjayhawks @Texas-Hawk-10

Nichols State was the tougher of the non con games and KU had a chance to go 4-0. Even after the first loss, KU was playing two poor teams next and had a chance to get it together, which it did, before playing against Baylor with the best chance to win a conference game, which it did not. If KU wins at least one of the next 2 games, or stays close, he might last the season; however, if the next 2 games are not competitive then he is likely gone at the break.

  • Chances KU wins 1 conference game : 20%
  • Chances KU wins 2 or more conference games: 5%
  • Chances Coach Beaty comes back next season: 10% (increases by 15% with each win)
  • Chances Coach Beaty makes it past the midseason break: 50% (increases or decreases by 10% with each win or loss)

Thoughts?

@JayHawkFanToo If you told me we let up less than 30 on the road in this conference, if it holds up. I’d be happy every week, the offense has been the big issue today.

If not for the 13 penalties which costed them 141 yards, the score could have been worse and still managed 447 yards of offense...and KU is going to see much better offenses the rest of the way.

BAD NEWS FOR DA BEARS • Sep 22, 2018 10:35 PM

@kjayhawks

Defense has allowed over 400 yards and counting...not that good in my book.

BAD NEWS FOR DA BEARS • Sep 22, 2018 10:32 PM

Agree. Receivers should be always looking at the first down marker; positional awareness does not seem to be a priority.

@Texas-Hawk-10 There isn't a single aspect of KU football that is well coached.

Short answer, NO.

WIGS WAR • Sep 22, 2018 10:16 PM

@Kcmatt7

I don’t agree that Wiggins did not play hard at KU, he played great defense and he has better scoring numbers than Manning or Josh Jackson had as freshmen. I believe it is more of a question of perception, he is such a gifted athlete that makes it look easy and fans tend to see it as not playing hard; also, the KU system under Coach Self does not lend itself for a player to be a high scorer in the manner that Trae Young was at OU.

Frank/Devonte ...Agbaji/Braun Deja Vu • Sep 22, 2018 09:58 PM

@KUSTEVE

I have seen Parker Braun several times and I was impressed with him and I believe I even mentioned him here before; he is going to be a decent 4 year player for MU. However, I am not sure why his HS coach thinks he is over 6’9”. He is listed most everywhere as 6’-7” or 6’8” and I have not seen any publication that lists him as 6’9”. Rivals has him as 6’8” and so does MU. FWIW, he looked about 3” or 4” taller than his younger brother the times I saw them play.

BAD NEWS FOR DA BEARS • Sep 22, 2018 09:40 PM

Pooka, the lone bright spot for the offense.

BAD NEWS FOR DA BEARS • Sep 22, 2018 09:12 PM

The more things change the more they stay the same. Brewer is running like he is Forrest Gump. The offense for KU has a net 0 yards for the half and 48 yards passing. Baylor dominated the first half and if not for the 6 penalties it is even more lopsided. Barring a miracle KU will lose the game and it is...once again...headed for a 0-9 conference record. SMH.

Journal World • Sep 22, 2018 02:57 PM

@Bwag

The job of the press was to present the unbiased facts and opinion was limited to the op/ed page. Now the MSM reports primarily opinions dressed as facts and the true role of the reporter has been lost...everybody is an analyst nowadays and nobody wants to just report the news.

Ideally I would like to see first, unbiased facts presented as such, and also opinion or in sports coverage, analysis, presented also as such so we can form our own opinion based on both takes.

BAD NEWS FOR DA BEARS • Sep 22, 2018 02:49 PM

Seems like both coaches are playing for their jobs. The team that wins lives to fight another day and move on and the loser likely headed to the bottom of the conference.

2019 Recruiting • Sep 21, 2018 06:19 PM

UCLA has had a lot of talent and lots of players in the NBA recently but not much to show for as a program.

2020 Recruiting • Sep 21, 2018 06:15 PM

I imagine that a lot of the bigger programs lost interest because in the current environment any allegation of sexual misconduct is the kiss of death. He is now ranked #29 by Rivals for 2020 and between that and 40 in the other rankings except ESPN. He is doing a prep year in California and if he gets to the top 20 there will be interest by elite programs.

2020 Recruiting • Sep 21, 2018 01:31 PM

The way things are moving, by 2020 the top players might be headed to the NBA and the battle will be for the lower ranked players.

I understand his legal issues had a bearing on his recruitment for 2019; however, people have short memories, with another year gone and if he shots up in the rankings, KU is back in play.

2020 Recruiting • Sep 21, 2018 01:08 PM

Zach Harvey reclassified for 2020, leaving the option open for 2019, maybe trying to put more distance from his legal issues? KU still appears to be the leader.

2019 Recruiting • Sep 21, 2018 12:37 PM

Here is a story by Tait on Stanley ↗. It would be a nice get for KU but West Coast players tend to stay there and I would think USC or even a UCLA or Oregon is the likely destination although it appears KU has made some progress lately. He is coming to Late Night and it would be KU’s best chance to get him

ANYONE USE THE OPERA BROWSER? • Sep 20, 2018 05:31 PM

I am pretty much done with IE, it seem to be super slow and freezes all the time. I am using Firefox more and so far it has been fairly decent. I also use DuckDuck ↗ for searches instead of Google since it does not track your searches.

I have been using IE for so long and I am so familiar with it that is hard to give it up. Too bad Microsoft will not upgrade it to Edge on machines running Win 7.

DO WE NEED THE MEN IN BLACK? • Sep 20, 2018 05:12 PM

Here is my story about Sunspot New Mexico.

Back in August,1992 I was doing work for NASA evaluating the gypsum runways for the Space Shuttle at the White Sand Space Harbor (it was actually named that by congressional decree) located on the southern portion of the White Sand Missile Range in New Mexico. The facility was located well into the desert and about 30 miles from Holloman AFB. Work was complicated because of the distance to the site and also because work schedule was reduced due to testing at the range and we would be told on short notice that the next day we would not have access until noon because there was testing at the range that morning (testing Patriot Missiles at that time) so, what should have taken 3 or 4 days, was schedule as a two week project. Add to that the first crash of the F117 Stealth fighter near Alamogordo shortly after we started the program that increased security and shut down everything for a couple of days.

That weekend, the site manager for Lockheed Martin, the firm that provided the support for the facility and a good friend, was able to secure motorcycles for myself and the other member of the team that happened to be a Military Intelligence Geologist and at the time Science advisor to the astronauts.

That Saturday we headed out early in the morning to the Lincoln Mountains and a high point location (Cloudcroft?) where there is restaurant that overlooks the mountain and the view is amazing and so was breakfast. After that we took a lot of small mountain roads and headed south to the town of Sunspot and the solar observatory. I have to say that it was a fun ride and the pine forests were just incredible beautiful. He had made arrangements in advance and we were given a VIP tour of the facility which was very interesting but noting particularly exceptional.

Afterwards we headed North through the Mescalero Reservation mountains where there were several Indian Casinos with private airstrips with small jets landing frequently and all the way to Ruidoso Downs, home of a famous horse race and then back to Alamogordo where we were staying. It was on of the more pleasant drive I have taken and if you like the outdoors and have a chance to do it I highly recommend it. Just be careful with the many cow grates on the small roads which can be dangerous if you are not careful, particularly while riding a motorcycle.

A couple of years ago I was back at White Sand, this time on the Northern portion of the facility and about 3 miles of the Trinity Site, doing evaluation of potential landing sites for the Space Capsule being built by Boeing to replace the now retired Space Shuttle. The original White Sands Space Harbor facility is now abandoned and hard to tell it ever was there.

That is my Sunspot, New Mexico story. :smile:

@Woodrow

Are you talking about N'Faly Dante? He is a top 10 2020 target. He has offers from KU, Kentucky, Oklahoma State, LSU, Kentucky, Oregon and St. John. He is 6'-11" with a ridiculous 7'-5" wing span and he is very close to Cheik Diallo whom he calls my brother. LSU appears to be in the lead with Kentucky also in the run, He plays for MoKan Elite which in the past has been very hostile to KU but recently KU has signed Agbaji and Braun that play for them.

He seems to be SEC bound.

I know it's still early guys but ? • Sep 20, 2018 02:51 PM

@jayballer73

Several of the stats you cited such as interceptions and fumbles are more the result of crappy opponents’ offenses than great defense. CMU and Rutgers are pretty poor teams and I would not draw any conclusions from those two games. We will know more after the Baylor game.

@wissox

Laimbeer was old school, very physical and dirty and he could dish it out but he could also take it and he did not go the bench bitching and complaining when he got caught like day tripper.

Preseason Hype/Discussion • Sep 19, 2018 02:24 AM

Here is an interview with Garret at Boot Camp ↗; apparently Vick Hs developed some leadership skills and has been more vocal. Nice to see it from the lone senior.

Preseason Hype/Discussion • Sep 18, 2018 08:13 PM

@justanotherfan

We will have to see how much progress he made over the Summer. FTs and rebounding are what kept him from being drafted so I will guess he has worked hard on both.

Preseason Hype/Discussion • Sep 18, 2018 06:39 PM

I can see games where Doke goes off for 20+ easy depending on whom he matches up. At the % clip Doke scores , a 3 point shooter would have to shoot 50% to match the efficiency.

Does Kendrick start or Bender • Sep 18, 2018 03:54 PM

@justanotherfan

Wouldn’t it make KU a one dimensional team and by extension predictable and easier to defend? Wouldn’t playing Bender give the team an added dimension and thus preventing opponents to concentrate on the run? I know the running game is at this stage better than the passing game but considering how many good to vey good runners KU has, does it need to add a running QB? Just playing devil’s advocate. :thinking:

RUTGERS: TALK TO ME • Sep 18, 2018 02:19 AM

@Texas-Hawk-10

Fair enough but those would be huge upsets since OSU and TCU are top 20 teams and Texas is now #33 and climbing. The passing game better pick up because conference defenses are going to get ready to stop the run. We will have a better idea after the Baylor game.
