I wish we could pull up the old threads so I could say "well looky here" Duval and Preston are who I said I thought we had the best chances with. I remember someone telling me that BOTH of them had issues because of the schools they had attended but never the less that was my prediction months ago. I would imagine Duval will follow since they have been considered a package deal since April.
@brooksmd I actually do (not 8th graders though lol) BUT Coach Self will put a solid team together next year without me having to lose any more hair!
We have been lucky to have some pretty solid pick ups outside of the espn top 100. In fact we have 4 guys in the rotation that were either outside of the top 100, not ranked, or post players in our current rotation. There aren't too many teams who wouldn't want Frank, Devonte, Svi, or Landen in their rotation this year? Coach Self will fill the pieces in in some fashion before next year and it will work. I have to quit stressing on recruiting because Coach Self has done his job quite well since he took over at KU.
I am not sure if you guys have seen this but UK could have another juggernaut this year. I know it was an exhibition game BUT they hung 156 points in a win over Asbury yesterday. The score reflects that UK was playing the YMCA 6th grade girls team.

I am flabbergasted! In just 2 games totaling 37 min of play JoJo has 34pts, 9reb, 4blk, 1ast, 1st... He is soooo rusty after not playing for 2 years!
YEAH what crimson said. I would say that Udoka and Coleby will start unless we land a 5 star PF and Self benched Diallo to play Mari so who really knows? Then after his freshman year he will have to worry about being recruited over for 3 more years. It was probably in his best interest to go elsewhere!
FWIW I hear our 4 guard line up will feature Svi/Jackson playing some 4 and Bragg at the 4-5 (30+MPG) and our guards soaking up the rest of the minutes with Lucas playing just above his last years MPG.

I have a good feeling Bragg will be back. If he projects to be a lotto pick he is as good as gone but I kind of doubt that! Graham, and Svi could also be back? Next year could be just as good (possibly better) as this years team if the only pieces that move are Newman takes over for Mason, and Udoka for Lucas. To be honest both are solid replacements that are just as capable. Coach Self will do his best to retain everyone that doesn't project as a solid lottery pick so I think we will be okay! The sky isn't falling

Orlando Magic announce they have waived Cliff Alexander, Branden Dawson and Kevin Murphy.
I think Coach Self will play his 4 guard rotation a lot in the preseason/exhibition games. Washburn, and Emporia State will provide the perfact environment to be highly successful in doing so. Right out of the gate we have Indiana and Duke. What better way to make both teams have to prepare for KU's high/low (norm) Coach Self's bread and butter, or something neither team has seen before? Both teams will have to watch tape of the two exhibition games where KU will run 4 guards. My guess is Coach Self will revert back to his high/low rotation during the first 2 games for the regular season because that's his comfort zone. We might see 4 guards on the floor for short spurts but the high/low will be prevalent. Its anybody's guess really but that's my 2 cents.

That per-minute scoring output ranks 15th in the NBA among players who have played at least 50 minutes so far this preseason, with his rebounding (5th) and shot blocking (4th) reaching even loftier heights.
I find it pretty amazing that after his first 5 preseason games he is averaging 9.4ppg, 5.6rpg, and 1bpg in only 13mpg. If you have had the chance to watch him you would also notice how good he is on both ends of the court.
Jahlil Okafor only averaged 10.4ppg, 4.4rpg, and 1bpg over 20.8mpg
Karl-Anthony Towns 11.6ppg, 6.8rpg and 1bpg over 23.4mpg
Anthony Davis 13.4ppg, 10rpg, and 1.4bpg over 30.8mpg
Is it because he has had 2 years of learning? I used each of the above players first 5 preseason games and I looked at ALL of the best big men only to find that if JOJO stays healthy he could really be a future hall of famer/NBA MVP! If Joel averaged 30mpg his stats could look like this 21.6ppg, 12.9rpg, 2.5bpg. That's pretty cool!

@drgnslayr I don't know if its as much coaching for March as it is coaching for next year. Vick needs pt so he will be more comfortable playing along side Newman next year too! Its a win/win for KU if we can get Vick some seasoning before next season with the possibility of a mass exodus looming just around the corner.
