Solid drive, but need 7's instead of 3's to win this one.

Furphy looks like he'll be fun to watch. Timberlake might be a solid contributor too.

I'm not sure what to think of Hunter at this point. Looked slow.

Hunter is similar to McCormack in terms of athleticism. Expect to see KU run a lot of similar stuff on both ends of the floor that the title team ran because of similar athletic abilities in the paint.

@wissox my very hot take was 02 was better than 03

The '02 team being better than the '03 team is a hot take? The '02 team is only team to run the table in Big 12 play and was a 1 seed in the tournament while the '03 team was a 3 seed in the tournament.

My hot take is the 2010 team is a massively underrated team because of the early tournament exit. That team entered the NCAA Tournament as the clear favorite to win it all, was 32-2 going into the tournament and was ranked #1 all but 4 weeks that season.

I want to see the KU defense that dominated Illinois show up today; where in the hell have they been? A win today will take a complete game from both our offense and defense. I'd like to see KU run the ball the first couple of series to let Bean settle in. Oh how this season has changed: underdogs to Central Florida at home. Come on now.

Illinois is a bad team this year, lost 20-7 at home to Nebraska last night. UCF is a better team than that and has a very strong running attack. KU will have their hands full on defense and after last week, I'm not sure KU can stop a strong rushing attack yet.

Daniels being out flipped the line from KU -2 to UCF -2.

The main thing after this game is, we got to keep fans engaged in our football team, we got to keep the students engaged.

It's ONE game on the Schedule, just like if would be if we won , it's ONE game either way - - -like has been mentioned as poor as the offense was like has been mentioned we were within striking distance through three quarters

  • -They need to regroup and really focus on Saturday. We were playing on house money anyways in this Texas game, I bet you couldn't find 5 guys in here that actually thought we would win this game. -Yet here is the thing if Students waver - - If the fans waver and now start to disappear for upcoming games - - -that's not a fan - -well ya it's a closet fan, - -you know what a closet fan is - -a person who puffs that chest out, thumps that chest when it's all good. Yet when things go bad -it's like OH NO they aren't my team.
    .
It just goes to show actually how far this team HAS COME.. - - It's went from being happy with one or two wins trying to stay close to now we are disappointed when we lose or play poor. Before we lose and play poor the mentality was eh TYPICAL GAME & it's good to feel that way, just means we got interest in our football program again. - -Yet here is the thing, if fans start not showing, quit showing up and supporting the team -- if students don't show - - Lance is already upset with Students leaving, it's also Lance and the Coach from Washington State are considered serious contenders for the Michigan St job.

If fans walk away , don't show support-- -if students don't start sticking around longer Lance very well might say Screw and we will return back to a warm pile of Dod Doo and may have one game win Seasons - -THAT'S ONE THING - - -WE DON'T WANT

Lance's name will be connected to pretty much every good P5 job that's available until he either retires or leaves.

PG Harris

G Elmarko

I don't really see a reason for KJ to start. What will he provide? We're all convinced he's not a great rebounder, right? He can't shoot. So, that leaves defense and lobs. Nothing wrong with that, but i think starting another scoring guard will help us more than KJ starting will.

I know, wasted argument.

Edit to say that McCullar can provide defense, rebounding, toughness.

It is a wasted argument because Adams is a better player than Timberlake amd Self isn't going to bench KJ at this point.

Looks like I picked a good game to miss. I wondered why the score was so lopsided. I wonder what's really going on with Daniels? "Back tightness" can be fixed pretty quickly with a good chiropractor and/or masseuse. Hope we don't tank the next several games like last year.

The game was actually close until the 4th quarter and kept it a one score game until late 3rd quarter. But, KU's offense couldn't sustain any drives and the defense just got exhausted from being doubled up on time of possession more than doubled up on plays run.

Open as a 18 1/2 point dog to Texas • Sep 30, 2023 10:41 PM

Why does KU still have the starters in at this point? KU isn't winning at this point and we already know how badly an injury can ruin a game/season. No need to risk Neal, Hishaw, or any other starter getting hurt.

Open as a 18 1/2 point dog to Texas • Sep 30, 2023 10:38 PM

I still don't think KU wins even if Daniels plays because our defense still has a long ways to go after playing their first really good team this year. I still think best case scenario is probably 8 wins, but that's with a healthy Daniels which is a question mark. With Bean, getting to another bowl game will be an accomplishment.

@wissox usually don’t see that at AFH I’ve paid $125 for GA before. Know people that were season ticket holders for 30 years that can’t afford it anymore. Now KU football usually is pretty reasonable to go. Just my two cents on the matter.

If you're paying $125 for GA seats in AFH, then I'm guessing that wasn't for a game against a non-confernce nobody school. I regularly see GA seats on Stubhub and other resale sites for about $50 for lesser games. $125 is probably what I would expect for a higher profile non-conference game or good Big 12 team.

OK you locals, all I'm seeing on twitter is it's a big issue now on campus because students are leaving football games early and according to one tweet "It's 100% on KU students if Lance leaves KU". Is this just twitter overspeak or is this a real story. To me it looks like just an over reaction, but IDK. Any local info on this?

Not a new issue and not an issue unique to KU. Even when I was a student there during the peak Mangino years, students would leave early.

I feel like this was handled about as well as possible by Self. Self wanted to give a talented player a second chance which I have no issue with. Morris couldn't meet the expectations of Self and was suspended once an accusation was made, then removed from the program once the investigation proceeded far enough that it was determined there was enough evidence Morris likely did something wrong.

Sometimes when you take a gamble, you're gonna lose, but I hope Self and staff will still give kids second chances in the future.

I'm forgetting another big one too...

Even with a healthy Embiid and Doke those years, KU wasn't winning a title those seasons. Both teams were very talented, but both were also very young teams that are the only KU teams under Self to lose 10 games in a season.

If anyone of you were in position for a huge promotion that you felt you had worked hard for and the company went with an outside hire instead you'd be updating your resume and you know it. I guarantee you wouldn't be like "you know what, just a little bit of adversity I need to overcome."

I really don't blame Udeh at all. The reality is that there were going to be 10 minutes to compete for at KU (potentially for two years). Or 25-30 somewhere else. I do agree it is unfortunate he stayed in conference because we know what he could become. Everyone is only mad because he's got the potential to be really, really good lol.

The transfer portal is a huge reason that KU Football is where it is at today. Do we think our transfers are a big bunch of wusses who ran away from adversity? Or did they not feel like their previous school was giving them the best opportunity to showcase their talents? Why would we want Gage Keys or Craig Young? Total losers who ran away from adversity. /s

Not sure about your company, but mine did hire new people every year in my position. - I outworked them all and run the company now. You have stated time and again you do not like adversity to overcome. Switch jobs when it gets hard - “keeping you nose to the grindstone is a republican lie” KCMatt. I would not hire you, but I understand where you come from.

It also very much depends on priorities. Most companies have a much larger hiring budget than retention budget so it's frequently in a worker's best interest to keep job hopping to bump up their salary. I also realize that's not the mindset a lot of boomers and older Gen X'ers have, but that's how the modern corporate American workplace has evolved over the past couple of generations with younger Gen X'ers, Millennials, and Zoomers. There's positives and negatives to each of those mentalities.

I think there is actually a clear path to 9 wins if we are fairly fortunate. It could happen. But bowl eligibility is definitely still a big deal to this program so my mind thinks about that first.

Can KU beat average/bad Big 12 teams on the road that they're supposed to beat? Can they go to Stillwater, can they go to Ames, can they go to Cincinnati and win those 3 games? Those are the types of games KU has to start winning to take the next step in their growth as a program because those are teams that are either close to equal to KU or KU is definitively better than right now.

I thought I’d check Nevada to see if they could snap the nations longest losing streak. They blew a 17-0 halftime lead to Texas state lost 38-24.

I thought Nevada looked really good against us. Same with BYU. Both QBs played well, except for the INTs. Except for the Illinois game, is our defense still so weak that bad teams look decent? But, 4-0 Baby. Hopefully, KU gets better on both sides of the ball this week and KU upsets Quitter Texas. I look forward to Oklahoma and Texas having the same SEC success as Nebraska and Missouri.

Yes, our defense is improved, but still not good, especially the pass defense. This is an improved team that has a chance to win 8-9 games this season because Oklahoma State and Texas Tech appear to be mich worse teams than expected this year. The question is can this team play well on the road because other than the WVU game, KU never looked that good away from home and didn't look good on the road against one of the worst FBS teams this year.

Really stinks gameday already did UT this year. A 4-0 KU in Austin would have been a great gameday.

As of right now I think Gameday should do Notre Dame vs Duke that week. I wish they didn’t do Boulder already or I’d say USC at Colorado.

Likely wouldn't go to Austin for KU/Texas regardless because UT has a potentially much bigger match up the following week that GameDay would likely be at if both Texas and Oklahoma are still undefeated at 5-0 and I see no reason to think that won't happen at this point.

Arterio Morris • Sep 16, 2023 10:11 PM

@stoptheflop If he was being suspended for what happened a couple of years ago, the press release from KU would've specified that because there isn't a reason to be secretive about that at this point.

This suspension is absolutely because of the McCarthy Hall accusation and is being handled as it should be at this point. A person is accused of a crime, kept away during the investigation and not being commented on due to there being an active, ongoing investigation into tge accusation, amd once the investigation is complete, KU and Self will determine if Morris will be allowed to return the program.

If the investigation leans towards Morris being involved, then he absolutely needs to be let go, but he does deserve due process and if the investigation shows that Morris is likely being falsely accused, then he could be brought back and be prepped for the shit he's going to go through on the road this season.

Yes, KSU-Missouri is a rivalry game, not on par with either school and KU, but it's still a rivalry game. Missouri's been average the past few years so beating a top 15 team on a walk-off 61 yard FG is absolutely going to cause fans to storm the field as they should for a big win.

If KU beats KSU later this season, I hope our fans storm the field as well because of how bad we've been against KSU for basically the last 30-35 years.
