Just too funny..... • Dec 13, 2016 02:21 PM

Cops suck. They make snap judgements about civilians all the time. Not all are very good at what they do and the poor ones give the rest a bad name. I'm still waiting to meet a good one.

If the shoe was on the other foot (given my personal experience) that student carrying a gun would've been tackled by several officers, experienced several broken ribs, likely been tasered 7-10 times and booked if he made it to jail alive. Then the prosecutor would go ahead and press charges. No possibilty of recourse for the student, lawyers won't touch this stuff. (Pretty much what happened to my brother, but he didn't have a weapon and was only 120 lbs).

Law enforcement is above the law. And that is a major problem. I'm white and I have been wronged by law enforcement, I can only imagine how minorities are treated. There needs to be an enforcement task force to police the police IA isn't getting it done. If Kansas cops are this crooked imagine Chicago's police force.

Made me chuckle too. I have a friend who constantly dates hot Crazy chicks. That fist data point is never enough. Usually takes a stressor to find out. :bomb:

Dok needs to shoot his free throws underhand. I doubt he can develop a mid-range jumper in his time at KU, but he can master the dunk! Also a hook shot, underhand free-throws, defensive positioning, and setting devastating screens.

@elpoyo That's what I thought going into the season, but Baylor looks pretty salty. WV will be a tough out in their place again. KU is the beacon of light in the conference, but that doesn't make everyone else crap, they just have more down years. But who doesn't have down years, besides Bill Self?

Self on Mason & Collins • Dec 06, 2016 09:10 PM

@justanotherfan You're right there is no way they could keep it up all game, but neither could the other team. What I want to see is them running in 5 minute spurts. 5 to start and close each half. 10 minute breathers in between. But no let up in defensive pressure all game.

In a perfect world...

Self on Mason & Collins • Dec 06, 2016 03:18 PM

@drgnslayr I'd love to see what a Bill Self Hi-Low run by the Morri would do to a 4 or 5 guard line-up. It'd be one of those 100+pt nights without a made three. Obliviously I worry about our D.

It seems KU gives up 25-30 points per night to the opponents best post right now. I don't wanna see 2 post players going off for 25! Defense scares me. I'd like to see more perimeter pressure while in the four guard line-up. If they can't see the post to pass him the ball he can't torch us! Smother the perimeter, pester the opponet for 90ft. And keep them on their heels on offense - run, run, run!!! Never walk, never slow down. I wanna see the opponent grabbing their shorts within 10 minutes of the first half. Our thoroughbreds are built to run and Hudy gives us an advantage that no other school has- let's use it!

Conference Championship games • Dec 06, 2016 02:09 PM

As long as they pick the best team the others don't matter much IMHO. The playoff was to make sure the best 1-2 teams get a shot and they will. It was never about being fair or giving everyone a shot. It's about getting the one team that's most deserving a shot (this year it's Alabama).

Self on Mason & Collins • Dec 06, 2016 01:56 PM

@bskeet I wish Mason would speed up the game and run opponents out of the gym! There are two more gears than what we've seen. Frank and Devonte walk or jog the ball up the court most of the time. I want to see them push the pace even more. Especially since the four guard lineup is g0ing to be common. KU should be faster than the opponent most if not every night.

Self on Mason & Collins • Dec 06, 2016 03:00 AM

@DanR Except Sherron lands on his feet. If someone is going down it's going to be the opponent. I wish Frank would stay upright and off his bum wrist.

UMM don't look now • Dec 05, 2016 02:51 PM

@Red.Rooster I wish you the best in your search for a cure to your wife's ailment!

My boy has a severe peanut allergy (life threatening - holy crap it's scary). Because of his allergy he is sensitive to many things. We make our own laundry detergent, watch all ingredients of food, and make our own sun screen. His skin is too sensitive for over the counter stuff.

What @KUSTEVE suggested is a great idea. Get out of the house for more than 3 consecutive days to see if there's a trigger at home. This would be the best way to eliminate your house and many things associated with it. However, you will be bringing things from home - clothes, toiletries, etc. If things don't clear up then they must be eliminated too. As well as bringing in new possible triggers- hotel's detergent, ventilation, etc.

One other thing, I had a friend who was "allergic" to the sun and sunlight exposure would leave him with itchy skin, but not under his clothes. - Doesn't sound like your wifes issue, but I though I'd throw it out there.

I have a couple of family members with MS, that would be my fear. Usually it feels like you are on fire as the coating covering the nerves breaks down. There are medicines to help mitigate the disease.

I hope you find a good outcome to your wife's ailment. Don't be afraid to lean on others in your time of need. It is just as helpful for them to allow them to help as it is to you.

Blatant elbow; nice flop. Flagrant 1

Thoughts on todays game • Dec 05, 2016 02:26 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 Not that I recall, but it was a good thing there was no stoppage in action soon after the pass by Jackson. There were enough good things going on to not give Self a chance to rip him right there, but I'm sure a conversation will occur during game film viewing.

Self on Mason & Collins • Dec 05, 2016 02:21 PM

2 time All America Sherron Collins is hard to beat. Time made me forget how freakin' awesome he was! We haven't had a player like that since.

Frank is his own man, not Sherron pt. 2.

Jerod Needs a Diet Pill and a New Look... • Dec 04, 2016 04:04 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 A decade + from now who knows who will be the coach of the future? With rule changes and rule emphasis changes different styles and emerging styles of play may allow for an unforeseen coach being the it guy.

I first noticed Self when he was at Tulsa. The one game he played (and lost) against KU he made an impression. I was genuinely jealous of their coach, but not the talent at Tulsa. Within weeks I had forgotten until KU signed Bill as their future coach. I imagine KU's next coach will appear something like that. A hotshot out of the blue with little to no program ties. Unless Tyler has learned a thing or two...

Kansas Basketball 2016-2017 • Dec 04, 2016 02:55 PM

@wissox I'm pretty sure my scribble would devalue a new or used ball. I'm fairly certain the only time my signature is worth something is on a credit card receipt.

Self on Mason & Collins • Dec 04, 2016 02:41 PM

I loved me some Sherron, but he was an athlete stuck in a fat man's body. Frank is built like the statue of David. They are both alphas. Frank is more under control, but not quite the shooter Sherron was. Sherron was a better facilitator especially when driving. Frank hunts his own shot while driving most of the time.

I'd take either one in a heartbeat. They are both fantastic guards that stuck for 4 years. I think they would've been good playing together too. Sherron, Mason, Graham - small ball deluxe! Watch their oppents ankles break.

Conference Championship games • Dec 04, 2016 02:29 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 Or will they both get in? Washington isn't that great.

Personally I think the college playoff has done it's job- make sure the best team gets a shot at the championship. In the BCS era and earlier that didn't always happen. There where occasions when the best team was left out completely. There where even split national championships because the 2 remaining undefeated teams didn't play each other.

SO in my mind the playoff is working Alabama is the best team this year and they are in the other participants will be deserving in some way. If the BCS could've picked the right matchups we wouldn't be in this mess. It's the KSU vs Oregon and Alabama vs Notre Dame games that ticked me off most recently. Alabama killed ND and the kittens were thrown in a burlap bag in the lake by Oregon. It should've been Alabama vs Oregon for all the marbles, but Oregon didn't get their shot.

Now here we are. While an 8 team playoff would be more exciting for the playoff it would devalue the regular season. A four team playoff should get the best team or two involved and that's all that really need to occur. Give the best team a shot be it Boise St., KU, or Alabama.

Thoughts on todays game • Dec 04, 2016 02:20 PM

@Hawk8086 If two big guys go off for the other team we'll be in trouble, but never has one guy beaten KU. Even when Glen Robinson went off for 45 against KU it took one of his teammates scoring around 20 to finish off the Hawks. I don't think a perimeter player will be able to go off against these Hawks, but down low is another story while playing small.

KenPom isn't perfect KSU is ranked #33 and Dook #2.

Jerod Needs a Diet Pill and a New Look... • Dec 04, 2016 02:15 PM

Jarod Haase is coming along, but I don't think he's anywhere near qualified to coach at Kansas. There are only a handful of coaches I'd like if Bill disappears. Unfortunately the two younger guys I'd like are coaching in the NBA and are not coming back- Brad Stevens and the Mayor. Dickhead from ISU is a reach as he'd never coach for us, but he can coach and he was able to recruit to ISU - he'd do better at KU with more talent. Brad could coach anyone any where, but he's having too much success at the next level to come back.

I though Manning would be Bill's successor if Bill left for the NBA early, but now it's getting too late as they are both approaching 60. It would be hard to hire any coach at that age and expect more than a temporary fix. KU dosent' hire basketball coaches for a couple of years, most last over a decade. (All but Larry?) I would take Danny back as the big man coach at any age!!!

Jacque Vaughn seemed to have it going on, but that has slowed. I hope we don't have to worry about replacing Bill for at least another decade. And when Bill does retire we have to figure out something to name after him!

Well almost time • Dec 03, 2016 11:03 PM

@kjayhawks I thought it was a good draw- get them at home instead of elsewhere. Oh well. Something to build upon.
