@BShark I didnāt realize the low success rate of linemen returning from a patellar tendon tear (45%). Iām going to say itās gotten better and the sample size goes back too far, but thatās a sketchy number. Burkholder has checked him out a couple times and cleared him, so thatās encouraging. However there is risk that he never fully recovers like Niang. š±
If Bill doesnāt find a shooter this lineup will be bad. There is absolutely zero reason to fear the perimeter with the group as assembled. If the season started now, I would expect at best a 4th place finish in the Big12. I hope Bill can find a couple more significant contributors, I dislike watching KU play mediocre basketball.
Peterson is the only reason to be excited. Weāve seen what Flory canāt do. White, and Council are a support players. Tiller is recovering from injury. Rando transfer I canāt remember is supposed to be a player - maybe. Elmarko is a huge question mark. The roster sucks as of today. Bill has some major work to do, as in there is zero scoring punch, no outside shot, and no size on the roster. Itās going to be a blood bath if Bill canāt snag some more āreal guysā.
Drafting the big uglies - good. Not sexy, but the games are often won or lost in the trenches. Iām completely in the dark about the defensive players selected, but I like the positions filled.
@drgnslayr Yes, the big green egg can get very hot. Itās ceramic with a felt ring around the seem - itās very effective at retaining the heat. -I donāt have one though.
We replaced our old Traeger with a new model with WiFi. It will tell you when it reaches heat or if the pellets are low (which is kinda handy). You can use a probe to maintain heat and itāll tell you when your meat is up to temperature. But like I said my wife loves that thing and I have never once used it. Sheās got burgers down to a science - just set a timer and they turn out perfect every time due to the even steady heat.
Josh Simmons - a talent the Chiefs would not likely be able to draft sans injury. Heās the player I expected/hoped the Chiefs would draft. Now to get healed up and back at it! Need to keep Mahomes upright!

@Kcmatt7 Big Green Egg. Itās a beast. True wood burner, not a pellet grill. Itās ceramic and holds the heat in very well. Easy to get a sear, harder to truly smoke though. - give and take.
Not home, but big 12 club seats - all sessions, first 10 rows, all you can eat and drink (NA) - $9k per seat per 6 years āseat licenseā and $1600 per seat for the tickets. ā¦Hard pass. The Big12 tournament is a lot of fun, but it is a far cry from Allen Fieldhouse.

Iāve found pellet grills to be a happy medium of easy even heat and flavor. The easy cooking even predicable heat like gas. Not as much work as charcoal or wood with no flare ups with the upside of the mild smoke seasoning. Itās cheating really - I donāt even grill now my wife does because she loves that thing.
When will the Darrion Williams to BYU deal be announced? Sounds like BYU has a bag and is putting together a nice team!

Trying to gauge just how good Stokes is. Film just shows dunks in transition and some high level athletic ability. He reminds me of a more athletic Jalen Wilson, straight line speed and aggressiveness. I like the fit here but just wondering how much he could really impact a team if he joined.
FWIW I would have taken Zion Williamson. Similar (smaller) mold.

Three big12 teams in the top 6 of these extremely way too early rankings. (Spoiler, none of them are KU). Another 2 teams ranked in the top 15 also not KU who checks in at 19.
A lot of roster left to build, but it needs to be impactful to keep pace.
I donāt recall who, but an espn radio jockey was talking about college football and the portal. He said they better figure things out to stabilize college football with contracts - you donāt want it turning into college basketball where you canāt recognize a roster from year to year. It makes it hard on the fans when they donāt know who theyāre rooting for.
Yikes. College basketball is the cautionary tale for football at this point. What a mess this is.

@MR11 I donāt hear much about Tiller. Heās been with the program practicing for a semester. He was rated around the 25th ranked recruit. But no hype, itās interesting. I expect someone ranked that high with a 6ā10ā frame to find some minutes. But itās pretty much crickets.

Less than 3mil profit. Not much wiggle room. Definitely not enough to contribute to the NIL fund. Crazy that they only pull in 23mil. TV revenue must not be optimized or the revenue isnāt there. Point being, I donāt believe KU can just pay for every player they want. There is still an element of recruiting involved. It would be nice to better understand the budget to understand the direction of recruiting a bit more.
@msanchez AZ is #6. Florida and Auburn are football centric money wise and have no shortage of funds. MSU š¤·āāļø what have they accomplished since that title a quarter of a century ago in 2000? How does Izzo keep his job? No crying poverty for these schools.
Houston has a good coach and has had pretty good player retention, hopefully they keep it up and donāt fall apart soon. The Big12 needs more than just KU basketball (assuming KU returns to prominence).

@HoraceZontal I didnāt notice him either. The rankings are likely mostly based on counting stats - points mainly.
Over 5000 d1 players on over 350 teams. Thatās a lot of new tax revenue! lol the nfl only has around 1500 players and average pay of 2.8mil per year. College basketball may pay better soon to fill a top tier roster.
As the pay escalates the yearly roster churn will continue. The haves and have nots will swap players.
Thatās a lot of freebies by Duke.
