@Texas-Hawk-10 I've been following/playing football for over 20 years. I have never seen even watching my nephews pop Warner league a team have so much trouble pre snap, year after year, game after game as we do. But yes it's not coaching at all. I think you and I have a completely different style of coaching. I've never met a person that doesn't think Beaty is a idiot.
@jayballer73 well then I'd say we should keep Coach Beaty obviously these players are too stupid to play football really at any level if thats the case.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Right, Iām just saying how is it that no other team in the nation heāll even a 2 win NAIA team I watched last weekend donāt have this problem. I guess youāre middle schoolers and any team Iāve ever played on are way smarter than these fools on our team or maybe they donāt know the snap count because they werenāt told or because there is no reason our rhime to it.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Iāll agree to disagree with you. 90% of this teams issues are on the coaching side. A decent coach probably has 5 wins before today with this team.
@Texas-Hawk-10 We worked on snap counts daily when I was playing. Itās the staffs job to make sure the players know where to be and also if half the players donāt know the snap count, Iād say they aināt running practice like a staff that has a brain. Half of KSUs lines are Walk ons with very little athletic ability can do it no excuses for our guys. When I played we hammered and hammered on fundamentals daily. That pretty much all we did was work on simple stuff and run stadiums. Maybe my coach was fool, he won 12 straight district titles and I was in a group that lost a single game in a 6 year span. Bill Self has stated on several occasions how much they work on fundamentals.
Robinson may get MVP for ISU at this rate ruin 2 drives.
@Texas-Hawk-10 I disagree, you donāt see any other team in America doing that, thatās is something that should they work on daily. Either that or our players are flatout the stupidest guys in the history of D1 football.
Outside of 2 great catches by ISU the defense hasnāt been terrible, that one Hassan Defense was in position for a pick but a 5ā10 guy aināt gonna out jump a 6ā5 guy. Offense must score here or itās gonna get ugly.
2 time-outs already burned by Beaty and multiple pre snap penalties. Poor coaching yet again, SMH. ISU may hold us scoreless.
Bender has actually been on the money on several throws that were dropped. @Texas-Hawk-10 they also missed a offsides that shouldāve been an easy call.
I think this game could go either way, I donāt see a blow out happening. It will be interesting to see who starts at the guard spots for us. I honestly think the offense looked better with Moore and Garrett in there. Grimes has yet to impress me, I believe Dotson is better at getting to the hole and finishing at this point. I think losing SDS will hurt us early in the year if Doke and/Dedric get into foul trouble. Mitch is hustling machine that we all love and David has a ton of upside but the way SDS was playing at the end of last season he would be getting a fair share of those minutes. This will be a hard year to Self to get the rotation down to the 8 he likes, it end up being 9 most nights. Iām wait for KJ to show up to one of these days, I havenāt been real impressed with him as well for a guy that averaged in double figures at Memphis. I think MSUs veteran guards could give our young guys a fit at times but I think Doke and Dedric are just too much in the end. KU 74 MSU 69, it will be weird watching us not play small ball and not having to score at least in the 80s to win like the past 3 or 4 years.
Our guard play is still sloppy as can be. MSU will be tough because they have experienced guards and that could be what beats us at this point in the season.
@dylans I agree, he is the only one that has had any sustained success there. However I'm not a guy that believes he's near as good as their fan base thinks. He has a losing postseason record, .33 win percentage against ranked foes, .12 win percentage vs top 10 ranked foes, has only beaten a ranked team twice when he himself was not ranked and has a losing road record. Snyder is good at getting under talent teams to play mistake free and at a higher level than they should. He is best at beating weak teams at home and they are known to schedule 7-8 home games each season. He hasn't been great since his return outside of 2012 with a class that Prince recruited by the way. The old days when he drew the easy south schedules were his best days.
I agree its time for Snyder to move on forsure, but I wouldn't count them out for a Bowl game at this point. They have TCU then KU in the next 2 Saturdays. Now if they win both they still need a win over ISU or Tech to become bowl eligible but stranger things have happened. If he doesn't make a Bowl game returning pretty much his whole offense then he should be let go. IT pretty much comes down to if the Athletic department has the spine to stand up to him because it's a hostage situation at this point.
I got 11 of 16 lol
Berry maybe the next Jamal Charles, great guy and fan favorite but at some point he has to be healthy on a consistent basis to be worth having on the team. The chiefs also had a couple of O linemen out for today so hard to complain about winning with the injuries piling up. Kansas City needs to draft and make moves on the defensive side of the ball before some of the offensive guys get old or big money to go elsewhere. It be a shame to have all that offensive talent wasted the next few season by being one of the worst defenses in the league. They actually remind me of the 08 and 09 Kansas teams, offense is great but defense is a total mess.
Down goes Texas in Stillwater, Kirk and the other guy in booth were raving about how OU shouldāve been so happy. I honestly donāt think they are, the best shot for them to get into the playoff was Texas and them winning out, then beating Texas in the B12 title game. Iād say OUs chances to make it went down because they may not have a win against at top 10 or top 15 team depending on how it plays out. I still donāt believe the SEC gets more than one team if Bama beats LSU next week and Georgia or UK in the SEC final. Notre Dame and Clemson both have complete cake walks to finish the season and Bama looks flatout unbeatable. It will be interesting to see where OU is ranked Tuesday in the CFP standing.
There is a slim chance Beaty is kept on for another season. Obviously it looks like a bad move at this point but heās still employed to this point and with how bad the scholarship numbers, if we have 3 or 4 guys transfer out it will be worse than Beaty inherited. So the next guy should be given a bare minimum of at least 5 season baring no wins in his first 4. There is more con than pro to keeping him but if you force him to sign only high school recruits and keep him, it probably doesnāt hurt much except attendance. I can believe on this beautiful day a shade over 15,000 showed up and I hate that for these player because they are playing hard. I really a, proud of these guys for fighting every week regardless of the score.
Very true, a win that we gave away no question. I would say we had a slim chance at a bowl if we had won that game. Beaty also may have had a shot to keep his job.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Not a factual statement on the scholarship numbers, they likely will be worse after he leaves with his Juco and grad transfers. Tom Keegan ran an article on this earlier this season. Beaty has done very little to nothing in 4 years. A coach with a brain takes this roster bowling.
@BShark Dotson did have some nice drives, Grimes has a lotta work to due if heās a OAD. I know itās the first game but we have seen some pretty good guards in both KU and opponents jerseys not get drafted.
@BShark You definitely donāt wanna put too much stock in these games, once you build a lead you know you will win.
Pretty sloppy as expected, getting the right rotation and guys playing together could take several games maybe even most of the non conference portion of the schedule. Dedric could be a very good player in time, he reminds me of George Niang. Doesnāt have a ton of athleticism but plays smart, Sherron was giving him Jazz about not dunking it, Hoiberg always claimed you couldnāt get Niang to clear a sheet of paper in vertical jump. Dedric maybe in that same boat but he definitely will be a stud. Doke had arguably his worse game in a KU Jersey, panicky in the double team and wasnāt aggressive enough by a lot. I was very unimpressed with guard play, I thought Moore and Garrett easily out performed Dotson and Grimes. Which isnāt all that surprising, they are freshman and we are used to good guard play with Frank, DG the last few seasons. Its actually surprising we scored 93 with how poorly we shot the ball in the first half and a whopping 22 turnovers. I still have the same concerns as before, teams will pack the paint with a zone to prevent Doke and Dedric from scoring easy and make our guards prove they can hit from the outside. We could definitely struggle to score against teams that play solid defense like KSU. Good to have plenty to work on, letās see what we can do better next week.
@Kcmatt7 Yes, I have a coworker that came here legally that Iāve worked with for about 8 years and he absolutely hates illegals because he says they make him look bad. He is a good dude and worker. He actually says he enjoyed living in Mexico but his dad just couldnāt find a steady source of income while they was there.
@mayjay @Kcmatt7 agreed, nothing wrong with trying to better ones situation. It will be very interesting to see what happens if these folks do get to the border. Iām perfectly fine with anyone that wants to come here to better their situation. I also donāt believe that they should get some of the benefits that they do (as I stated in previous posts one of my best friends went to college half priced because he is 1/4 Hispanic tho his grandpa migrated here when he was 2 and his family hasnāt had ties Mexico for several generations, not to mention he glows in the dark he is so pale lol, one would never guess he was Hispanic the least bit) I also donāt believe in just letting in anyone that comes and whether thatās right or wrong could be debated but many countryās including Canada have immigration laws (I actually know someone that tried to illegally go to Canada once Trump was elected and was deported, he is on a waiting list that could take several years to get him approved) several countries in Africa and the Middle East the offense is punishable by death.
Amazing how fast the place cleared out, looks half full with 4 minutes left
@Kcmatt7 you could be correct I just donāt trust politicians. Logically thinking says there is very very little to no chance these people at least most of them wonāt make it without help.
With SDS being out at his time Iād say no chance Mitch red shirts. I think Agbaji is a candidate forsure but he looked solid in the scrimmage at late night.
Iām excited to see how good Dedric really is, Self doesnāt praise a guy like that often. āBest passer on the teamā, āwe simply have no one who can guard himā, etc.
I believe it to be a hoax at this point, from what Iāve read sounds like the way they were made, theyād never go off. As @JayHawkFanToo friend had stated. Sadly you never know what type of ploy either side will use to make the other look bad. A good chunk of folks believe the people marching from Honduras are being paid and I agree with that assumption. Thousands of people with no money are going walk 1700 Miles to the boarder without food or water. If they get even half way someone is helping them, most people at a walking pace wouldnāt even cover 20 Miles a day. So it could take til spring before they get here.
Itās fairly obvious at this point that Self is pretty much saying heās clean, which means if otherwise comes out heās most likely done. Now I donāt believe SDS getting 2500 for online classes when he already sat out several games will lead to us vacating anything from last year. Self continuing to sit players under scrutiny while other coaches play them, looks positive for integrity IMO. The NCAA has already said they are waiting to see all thatās found in these FBI cases before they move with there own investigation, it could be years before that path is even followed.
I'm a little confused about the 60k from what I've seen so he got it and paid it back with Adidas money, then got the 2500 or just kept the 60k?
So let me get this straight supposedly SDS got 2500 to come to kansas so we sit him yet Zion, that wanted housing, jobs and money, who is now at Dook won't be sat. Same as Wendell Carter being mentioned in several reports. I bet SDS has a suspension or something a lala Selby or something of that nature while Dookies obviously paid for Zion and UNC has fake classes and get nothing SMH. I personally think we will be fine because no one alive will go against the ACC.
@jayballer73 Turpin, who had a kick off return for a TD against OU Saturday and is easily their best player was just kicked off of the team for domestic assault. Second time he has been arrested for it in the past year. The stars are aligned for a KU victory, too bad Beaty will screw it up just like he did the KSU game last year.
@Kcmatt7 I agree about the 4-3. Peterson would help but Brady had way too much time to throw is why they lost. You can have the corners in the game but if you ain't got a rush they'll find someone at some point.
@BShark Marshall could pull a Turgeon after a bad year or two. If he stays he will turn into the Bill Synder of Basketball there. Will have had one of the best runs in school history and then do just enough to pull a few upsets from time to time and keep his job. He really has the Athletic department by the balls with his huge contract. He makes more than several coaches that have won NCs.
With all of this FBI BS Iām the least excited Iāve been for KU basketball since I started watching in the mid 90s. It will be interesting to see whatās mentioned on the air on the case.
@DanR 100% agree, hello Charlie Weis 2.0, if you canāt win with SEC money or Notre Dame money, you simply will not win at Kansas.
Ohio State just got destroyed by Purdue, itās one thing too lose but a another to get spanked.
I would be fine if they did but I highly doubt Beaty is let go at this point in the season.
I guess I dont get pulling Stanley after 2 bad drives against WV, yet keeping in Bender all game when he had one good drive. I feel bad for the defense, they got some turnovers and just ran outta gas letting up 21 in the 4th.
The defense was in position to pick passes there just got out jumped, dont matter when the o is this bad.
Now pooka fumbles at the 3 smh, 2 possessions inside the 5 and 3 points. You cant win like that.
It's crazy how bad the offense is, defense gets them the ball at the 3 and they screw it up and settle for 3. With an average offense KU is up 14-3. Bender missing a wide open Sims hurt as well.
@cragarhawk right, I just donāt like the idea of jumping to conclusions on something that isnāt related.
I had an interesting talk with a fellow KU fan today about the FBI scandal and we discussed some of them scenarios that KU isnāt paying players. Obviously it looks the opposite at this point and itās pretty native to think otherwise. But there is a slim chance that we are, so Iāll bring up some fair points that he did. The media has been known to twist stuff to create more clicks in several instances, like politicians be qouted saying one thing and then watching the speech and seeing they added 2 words here and took out 2 words there to make it look good or bad. We know the trial isnāt allowed to be broadcasted so all we have is tidbits from people covering it. There is a fairly good chance that stuff isnāt word for word or being left out, good or bad for KU is unknown (the 30 for 30 āfantastic liesā is a great one to watch about media hearing something and running as fast as they can with it, with one or no sources). That could be big in KTs tapped phone call, also note that KT didnāt say we need to get this kid all he is asking, he said āWe need to do whatever we can to get him here for 10 monthsā. What was said after that and before that? That could be a big key going forward in this. So if we did meet his demands why is at Dook? Gattos defense team is going to edit what they have and say whatever they possibly can to get him off the hook. Also Bill Self has sat several players that have had question marks on their status, it makes zero sense to pay guys to sit on bench on street clothes if everyone is getting paid, absolutely none. Also Ayton was supposed to be a sure fire Jayhawk til the very end. We all speculated that Zona paid him when he switched it up, so was his number to high? Or did we not try to pay him? One of those is probably the case. If we are really paying guys why are we not getting the insane good classes that UK and Duke are? Obviously if everyone is paying that plays a factor in this but both of those schools have had multiple top 25 guys each of the last 10 classes, we havenāt on several occasions. Could we really be paying guys like Frank, DG, Ochai and Lightfoot? Guys that really didnāt have a ton of places to go or be in a competition for a biding war? Iād say if we are paying players and getting several ranked in the hundreds ether Adidas doesnāt pay worth a shit or Bill Self and Co. suck a** at recruiting. Iāll add this these other thoughts, how disappointing it would be to not only be cheaters, because if Iām honest I wasnāt a 100% sure we were before this came out, I always liked believing we werenāt getting the classes most of the time because the other said programs were because we werenāt paying. I think at this point if found to be paying all these guys, Iād be fine with clearing house, one NC in 15 years of paying players is a laughing stock to me. Its kinda like the Yankees, I find it hilarious that a organization that buys the best players most the time isnāt even in the playoffs every year. They have 27 titles which is great but they have had the talent for atleast twice as many and baseball isnāt a fluke as much as college basketball, you have to win a series not one game. In a way I suppose we have had the talent to win more as well.
@cragarhawk I think the integrity of paying players under the table is a little different than covering up your players that have raped individuals. Just because someone doesnāt pay taxes on there income from side work doesnāt make them a rapist too. One is arguably a victimless crime while one is clearly not.
We know that a football player was kicked out for sexual assault but youād have to be not only a terrible person for covering it up but to risk anything for a player on a team that sucks that day for would be one of the flatout stupidest things I could recall of hearing.
@cragarhawk I donāt think Self would cover up a rape, He didnāt cover up Braggs deal and even sat him til he was proven innocent. Their only a few matters that come to mind of hiding stuff. Jacksonās kicking of Vickās ex GFs car after she threw drinks at them, not that I agree with that action but I would say thatās definitely not in the same category as rape. The episode of Vickās GF saying he pushed her a few back wasnāt given light til well after but records they both called each other in several times for similar reasons. Hardly makes it pass but sounds like a lotta he said, she said in a toxic relationship. Man I hope Vick is single haha..
@BShark Is your new profile pic what you're drinking tonight or tomorrow during the football game? lol
