Disappointing start with a loss for the volleyball team

This team is light years more athletic than last years, nice to have a pg that pushes the ball down the floor instead of walking it everytime. Lots to work on but pleased with the first look.

@Jhawk69 yes last year that was who we were for much I’d the season unfortunately. The jury is still out on this years group

@Jhawk69 last season was so frustrating, 2 years ago we had a true freshman 3 string QB and still almost won. If JD or Bean were healthy the streak stops there. Last season so many bone headed plays from Skinners dropped TD pass, the kick off man stepping out at the 1 yard line and JDs back to back fumbles the last two times we touched the pigskin. Hoping the nightmare of giving away games is gone but idk after the Cincinnati debacle.

@Jhawk69 I disagree next season will be a rebuilding season that’s why making a bowl this season is huge. We have a 6th year senior QB and tons of experience on offense. Pretty much the entire 2 deep is seniors on the offensive side. If this a rebuilding year we are in deep deep trouble next season like Beaty trouble of do we win more than 1 game.

@wissox I would consider the season we won 9 with bowl the exception not the rule at this point.

@wissox that’s why it’s such a big deal, especially after losing to Mizzou. We can’t afford to lose another rivalry game if we want to win recruiting battles on home turf. Kids would already rather go to the SEC. Lose this game and it sets us back to the pre LL days IMO.

@Jhawk69 to me if we don’t win, we likely don’t go bowling meaning LL has maxed out at making a bowl every couple of years and we can’t beat our rival at their worst. I wouldn’t say we should fire LL with a loss but it’s hard to imagine us ever being more than 4-7 win team most years. Would mean LL can’t take the next step here and wouldn’t be good. He has done great at building up the program from a doormat to a team that competes week in and week out. But you have to win some of those game especially with a 6 year QB. Like i mentioned above if we lose Saturday the streak easily hits 20 IMO.

Sounds like KSU is trying to give us bulletin board material. One there linebackers stated they should go out and dominate us.

@mayjay for sure wasn’t a knock but when you win a Super Bowl with guys that are struggling to make a rosters a few years later it’s speaking volumes of what you did imo. Kinda like me saying Mahomes start slow without Rice and Worthy was okay because you had Thornton and Juju who couldn’t make the pats roster. The line without Simmons has looked solid and will continue to improve if he comes back and Mahomes has weapons so we get to just watch him roll. Every great QBs has weapons Pat did a lot with less IMO the last few years.

Friends I am so sick and tired of losing to the mildcats in football and splitting with them in basketball. 17 times in a row is at stake Saturday. We literally have highschool seniors that have never seen Kansas win and it’s quickly becoming one of the most embarrassing streaks in CFB. If this program wants to move forward, a win has to happen. Next season we will lose pretty much every single player on offense and the few good players we have on defense. If it doesn’t end now it could easily go on for another 5 years. I feel like my sanity is on the line Saturday.

@Jhawk69 that’s what makes it fun to watch even if it’s a bad game. Mahomes has 2 or 3 plays just about every week that prove he’s pretty much one of one. No look to Rice yesterday and then the throw to Worthy when he was almost out with 3 guys on him running full speed and throwing across his body for a completion is tough.

What makes Mahomes better than Burrow and Allen? He won a championship 2 years ago with MVS, Hardman and Toney. Last I knew all 3 guys are sitting at home today.

@nuleafjhawk makes me laugh the amount of drugs and drinking the people that claim he is washed twice a year. Dudes worst year he won the division and played in the conference championship game. Mahomes last 5 games has 69% completion percentage, nearly 1400 yards with 14 touchdowns and 1 INT. Thats best in the NFL if anyone was wondering.

@BShark ya no chance they lose that with Morton IMO. The offense was terrible for 3.5 quarters and the special teams finally set them up late is why they took the lead.

Tech defense has kept them in the game thus far but they look gassed. Also Houston 6-1 😳, I wanted Willie before we hired Liepold

Jeff Grimes hasn’t scored a point in back to back games. Had one game where they scored more than 17 on the year. @wissox what type of stuff are they smoking in Wisconsin to pay us to have that guy. Looking like between this year and last it has been one of the worst hires in CFB.

@benshawks08 unless you are teaching a class that involves politics, if your students know your political affiliations, you have failed as an educator. Your job isn’t to push your agenda on others especially young minds. That is my stance on the subject

I’m sure they will decline but I also have friends who had their kids transfer from KU due to Professors pushing a democratic agenda in studies they shouldn’t.

@wissox Arizona and Utah are such weird games m, both teams look great at times but terrible at others so I guess they mirror us in a lot of ways. The only game I’m focused on right now is next week. I think at this point it has become the biggest game in Both Leipold and Jd’s career

So a video showing that a Kansas player picked it up and handed it to a staff member means it wasn’t thrown there in the first place? Did a miss something?

They just released the game time of the bowls for my son’s 5th/6th grade team and it’s at 1:00 so I can’t go anyways. I dislike the 11:00 am kick for a rivalry game. Shows how much the rest of the country doesn’t care about two unranked teams.

@nuleafjhawk when my wife and I got bored one Saturday back when we first started dating in 2012 we decided to go to the ISU game. Found tickets for $15 and went for that. Now we didn’t win unfortunately but not shocking. I’ve never witnessed a win in memorial stadium. My first game was a beat down by OU in 2001, then A&M is 2002 that was back in my highschool days when we would go with FCA to KU football and KSU basketball likely because it was cheap lol. I’ve watched us lose to the likes of central Michigan, Ohio and Rice. I’m willing to pay a fair price but like I said they are pricing average fans out of sports in this economy.

@Jhawk69 very true I’m just hopeful we have a guy that can hit a 3 pointer with no one within 10 feet of him. We have missed that so much the few years. Teams only had to pack the paint to stop Hunter. The last two is the only time I’d ever be down with challenging the KU BB team to game of horse.

@approxinfinity closer to 4 years than 3 at this point but I hope you are right. Self has gotten some big names to sign here just not sure he’s coaching style matches that. For us to be special this season it’s as simple as Peterson has to be one of the best CBB OAD of all time up there with likes of Melo, Zion, AD and Durant.

@wissox sadly I agree, I have just not been able to get excited about basketball these last few seasons. As @approxinfinity said we have to get with the times I guess but I’ve missed more KU basketball games the last 3 years than I did from 96-22. I loved watch guys develop and be here. Crazy to see us preseason 6th in the conference, that maybe the lowest we have been picked in the B12 days. Gosh we have fallen so far sad to see.

Anyone else see the prices of tickets for next week? Cheapest ones are still $170 for two unranked teams. Then we wonder why we don’t sell out

@FarmerJayhawk @dylans Tech can play with any team in the country when they are healthy no question in my mind. They are about the only team ku hasn’t competed with in the last 3 years.

@wissox it’s like Kansas football is snake bitten in close games I could prob name 30 one possession games we should’ve won since 2005. Bout the only years we didn’t lose them was 07 and the Bean year of 23.

@Crimsonorblue22 I feel like a Spags defense always starts slow especially with some of the new guys in the secondary but they usually are pretty salty by mid season.

I hated losing Zuby when it happened but he wouldn’t have made a difference the last two years.. would’ve been just like Hunte having 3or 4 around him at all times.

I know the chiefs lost a close one to the jags last week but the offense is starting to click right now. The defense and special teams are a work in progress.

Apparently Lance and Joe got into a heated exchange post game over the tortillas being thrown repeatedly. Maybe this lights a fire under him.

@dylans JD has had a very solid year thus far not sure why anyone would think he needs benched at this point. The thing is with Marshall is he is a freak athlete but that doesn’t take he is a good QB. We are not at practice every week so if the staff has Ballard above him, there is a reason.

How are we feeling? Obviously tonight’s results weren’t shocking. But it feels like the KSU game has gained a lot of value. I’m not sure I see the loser of that one making to a bowl game. I will say this we have played a much much tougher schedule to this point. I think Tech is a top 5 team in the country and Cincinnati, Mizzou are at least top 20 ball clubs. The best chances at wins are our next 3 opponents.
