@bcjayhawk I'm 59 years old and, except for the times we've played them, always rooted for Wichita State.
Until they hired Greaseball. I cannot stand him. He repulses me, he's stupid, can't coach (Playing weak teams in a weak league don't make you a good coach. Even the occasional lucky wins vs good teams), he has a giant greasy forehead and I imagine he has bad breath and B.O.
Other than that, he's ok.

All I'm saying about it is this - if KU would have had 35 free throw attemps and WVU only had 2, we would be under some sort of NCAA investigation. Probably the FBI, KBI and Mayberry RFD would be involved.

@kjayhawks The media has made such a big deal over WSU the past 2-3 years, trying to convince themselves that they're a real team. I'm sure the refs are benefiting very nicely, - ESPN probably bought Marshall's last house.
It took a gargantuan black/white effort to get past might Temple. Can't wait until they play some real teams.

@DoubleDD I would have loved to see how Smith would have performed in an offense that was a little more...progressive. How many years did we all think that the dude couldn't throw the ball more than 15 yards downfield. Much to our amazement, this year he showed us he could - he could air it out as well as anyone this year.
In a different offensive scheme the country may have very well mentioned him with Brady, Rodgers, etc.

I watched Mahomes all during his incredible college career. I think people that expect him to be the next Tom Brady (or whomever your dream QB is) are going to be disappointed. After all, he will have to work within the confines of the Chiefs outdated offense. Smith had a level of maturity and just plain ol job experience that Mahomes doesn't bring to the table. It will be an interesting year.

I'm not an NFL guru by any stretch of the imagination, but wasn't Alex Smith the top rated QB in the NFL - ALL YEAR LONG? He did go to the Pro-Bowl, right?

I was going to guess that 3 was the number of games that the Big 12 second place teams have lost. Two was the number of games that the Big 12 first place team has lost. One is the number of games that Azubuike has - or ever will - hit two consecutive free throws in. Eight - the round in the NCAA that KU will bow out to a lesser team because elite college athletes can't hit free throws.
So - after 59 1/2 years I finally understand what it's like to be a K-State fan.
You're just too damn stupid to figure out that your team is not good. They were b.r.i.e.f.l.y. good 50-60 years ago, but they're never going to be good again.
The fans are too damn stupid. They can't help it. They don't want to be stupid. They just don't know any different. There's always a glimmer of - let's call it hope. It's not really hope, it's just diminished stupidity - but hope sounds nicer.
The administration feeds this "hope". They hire stupid coaches. They make stupid decisions.

@benshawks08 How does embarrassing the crap out of yourself in front of 12,000 people plus a TV audience of who knows how many, plus practically single handedly causing your team to lose - build any confidence? I would personally have a lot more confidence if my team won and then i spent, oh say 5 hours a day shooting free throws until i figured out what i was doing.

@dylans I've been watching basketball (or playing) my whole life and i never even thought about what you said. How (when you have crappy KU free throwers) it is a penalty against THE TEAM BEING FOULED. Something really needs to be done about this.
Maybe we could start with some freaking crazy counter attack like learning how to shoot the simplest shot in the world, a free throw, or not playing people who are .....unable, let's say to grasp the free throw concept. Maybe we could get said people some velcro straps for their sneakers in case tying their shoes proves to be a considerable challenge as well.

@betterfireE If this was truly engineered, and i were the AD, the Chief Engineer would be looking for a new job today - don't give a F if he's in the Hall of Fame or if he had won 10 NC's (which he won't).
His only job is to win basketball games. He gets paid more money in one year that most of us will make (combined) in our lifetimes. If he is engineering losses to supposedly make things better in the long run ( which he never does - one NC, thanks to a hail mary prayer by Chalmers to get us to OT - not good coaching ) then we need somebody else on the bench that wants to win every game.
I'm not calling for his head, but I'm tired of stupid ass coaching like this and like i see in late March that cost us wins.

I love this statement so much. Because it's true. In a few months, I'll be 60. Haven't played competitive ball in 35 years. Haven't played HORSE with my kids in the driveway for over 10 years. I'll bet anyone on here I can go out RIGHT NOW - at 9:41 at night and by 11:00 I will have improved my free throw percentage by 50%.
It's not that damn hard. You think " OH - I bricked that one, I'll soften the next shot up a little ". " OH - that was was too soft, too flat, I'll put a little more ooomph on it and a little more arc" "OH - I need to get my hand square under the ball and bring my elbow in closer".
Not - OH - I've bricked the last 100 shots I put up, guess I'll keep doin the same damn thing. OH - I must be doing it right because my dumb ass coaches aren't telling me to do anything different and they keep me in here at crunch time so I can lose the game for my team and our fans.
I've said for YEARS that these prima donna college basketball players need to put in MINIMUM 2 hours practice per day on Free Throws. Good free throw shooting teams win championships. They're FREE.

He looks like a goose with a broken wing - there is No way a shot would ever go in - unless it bounces off somebody's head.
His free throw shooting is abominable. The fact that somebody hasn't fixed it by now is worse. He has figured out how to dunk and hook - that's all he needs to know there. Spend 8 hours a day shooting GD free throws.

@Crimsonorblue22 Wichita State is the most over-rated team i can remember in the history of the universe. Mrs Marshall got the rep of being a winner because he was in a crappy conference and had one or two occasional real wins. Yes, I remember the KU game. But he's a phony. He knows it too or he would have taken on the head coaching job at one of several real basketball schools that wanted him.
