Number one Texas didn’t last long at the top.
Tough opening game. Arch was a dud, not the stud the announcers kept hyping

Oh Lord is right: talking head "this is the start of a new Manning Era." Say it ain't so.
Like a jilted highschool kid, I tend to root against Texas and Oklahoma. So, I'm all in on an Ohio St win, except I don't like the Luckeyes either.
I don't understand why fans on this site aren't posting about this year's football team. I suspect our regular posters from years past have found a different site to engage during our games.
I guess ESPN doesn't have cameras that show the whole stadium. I'm curious about the attendance on this holiday weekend.
Why is Jalen running the ball?
Really glad college football is back-even though we all know the problems. Most of the games this weekend are like our Wagner game, but Texas v. Ohio St Saturday 11am on FOX, WOW. And Sunday 6:30 on ABC Notre Dame v. Miami. I can't wait.
Strange schedule this year; 2 games played before Labor Day. And why Wagner College? Other than extra revenue for KU- I'm assuming, neither team benefits from this game. At least Wagner, enrollment 2,000 is somehow a D1 school. KU needed to schedule Wagner during the David Beaty years, instead of Costal Carolina, which is ranked in the 100's this year. Oh well, the Wagner game is a breather before going to Mizzou.
Lyrik Rawls had a great game; 5 solo tackles. But, his name reminds me of Lou Rawls from the 70's
Jason Bean did get to play for the Colts today: 11/17 107 yds TD and INT. 6 Carries 28 yds. But the Colts seem to favor rookie Riley Leonard out of NDame.

@stoptheflop is be fine with Ballard in the 4th the way it is going
Maybe if KU plays Cole Ballard, the Colts will play Jason Bean in the final preseason game tomorrow.
JD 15/17 160yds 3 TDs; one drop, so close to perfect passing. And 8 carries 47 yds which I hope doesn't change in the second half. I know it won't happen, but I'd like to see Ballard get a couple of series.
It's a long season and we have a nice lead. Can I just say and hope KU doesn't run JD in the second half. We have running backs; let them carry the rushing load. Please.

This is what I expected tbh. I called Pickett as the guy to watch a ways back. His film was great.
This staff rocks.
OK Cam Pickett #7 Junior transfer from Ball St. 5 catches 72 yds and 2 TDs. Oh yeah, it's still the first half. Wow.
Alright, KU has the ball and the lead. Let's Goooooooooooooo
Alright Leshon.
Really poor tackling. Come on defense
Nice drive.
Impressive fan support by both teams. So, now everyone on the ISt offense but the linemen have the plays on their left arms? Looks just like the instructions on my weed killer bottles.
Watching KState v. IState in Dublin. Really glad college football is back
For my family going to KU football, the objection is still about the parking. I don't use the shuttles because I want to leave when I want to leave. I don't mind walking 10 or 12 blocks, but the rest of my family complains. I've heard there are plans for underground parking, so we'll see. I'll be watching Fresno St from my family room where I can yell and fuss without others looking at me like I'm crazy. By the way, I'm usually wrong when I see the replays. But, I still yell when the call goes against us.
Replacing the beer garden, our stadium now has 4 clubs: leaving off the naming rights, they are the Limestone Club, Jayhawk Club, 1921 Field Club and the Patio. There are 2200 seats in the clubs and 800 seats in the 40 Suites. Sales of the premium seats have been much better than estimated by millions of dollars. I have to change my mindset of sitting in decent seats(between the goal line and 20 yd line) for the lowest price. Attending a sporting event now is more about the overall experience with actual cost just a momentary distraction.
I forgot to mention I'm glad the new stadium got rid of the beer garden in the end zone.

I've heard complaints about season tickets tripling in price. I haven't heard how season tickets sales are going and I haven't heard how many tickets are sold for Fresno St. I sure would like to see a full stadium; expecially since it now holds 10,000 fewer fans. I doubt very many Fresno fans will be attending.
GOOD NEWS! KU announced the stadium is sold out for Sat's game. RC

What are we expecting from Leshon Williams? Man, I wish Devin was still here.
Finally, finally, finally, the season is here. Fresno's QB will be Kurt Warner's son, who played at Temple and Rice before this season. ESPN has KU as a 12 pt favorite. Fresno St has a new coach, Matt Entz, who had a lot of success at North Dakota St. Here we go: new season, new stadium; I'm really hopeful KU wins the close games this season and gets to a nice bowl game. Fresno St is always competitive in the Mountain West and usually gets to a bowl game. Quite a change in opening opponents from Lindenwood.
@SlimShaddy54 Fall practice has started. I'm still suffering from the hangover of last season's disappointing narrow losses. Bring on Fresno State.
Really hoping some KU players get selected. I hope great teams pick Devin and our other guys very soon.
Any word on Peterson's NIL amount?
I tend not to pile on others when their teams lose; I know how painful it is and certainly don't like others giving me shit when KU loses. I just go with the "tough loss" and move on to something else.
Even if it's just this game, I hope Storr plays his ass off
So, this is the game thread?
KU's bracket shows that media attention and to a lesser extent fan interest factors into KU's seeding more than just 7 seed matchups. Each game has an attention hook: Calipari v. Self; Pitino v. Self and much lesser, Zuby v. Ku; and back to the border war if KU plays well enough to get Mizzou. There is certainly media design here rather than seeding based on a each team's seasonal performance. The other 10 seeds New Mex, Vanderbilt and Utah St could have been in KU's bracket but just don't have the hook.
Any chance KU will be a 6 seed?
KU starting guards: 34min, 11min(Griffen), 34min; 9 pts., only 12 shot attempts in 79 combined minutes and 1/5 from 3. It's no mystery why this team sucks. Worst KU team since the Ted Owens' era.
Come on guards, score the ball. Jeez, only the bigs came to play
Apparently Tech doesn't foul. Or the refs are just ignoring Tech
Hunt should have dunked. But KJ cleaned up the rb
I would like to see KU play with defensive intensity. It drives me batty that opposing players come into Allen and feast on offense.
Who else remembers the FT distraction at OU that was a 6ft gorilla behind the backboard and the head spun in a circle? I kind of miss those fan hijinks, but they made me mad during the game. What about the AZ or AZ St person behind the shower curtain. That was a good one. But I sure don't miss the insensitive antics that we saw in Manhattan and Columbia.
@drgnslayr said in Man is KU is really going to stomp Colorado tonight!:
It's a win. Once again, "Hated Hunter" leads the way with about half our stats.
So, was the game plan to play through Hunter or did the guards just take the night off? Only 12 3s even attempted by our guards and they only made 3. Altitude, lateness of game or they just don't care? Or they suck? 16/28 FTs, Jeez. If NIL estimates are correct and Storr was paid $800,000, that means he's been paid $4,762 per point. 0 pts last night in 8 minutes. And while I'm being negative, KU not being ranked means 3 more clicks on ESPN to get the score. Oh woe is me.
Hurley was his usual petulant self; at one point he as so far out on the court he picked up a St John player's shoe that had fallen off. I don't like coaches who constantly wander out on the court like Bruce Weber.
Nice, Zuby with the put back dunk and one. I can't believe I find myself rooting for Pitino's team. But, they are playing Hurley's team, so there's that.
Saw Zuby put the ball on the floor and take it to the rim in the second half against Sir Danny's team. Should have been an and one, but since he's over 6'5" and near the paint it's a standard no call. Second leading scorer on #10 St John.
I do wish Bryce Thompson well. Very tough college career after all the high school accolades and promise.
Nice rebound (from losses) game, but it is Okie St. After Colo, KU has Tx Tech, Az, then Houston to finish conference. Let's see if this effort holds up.
@dylans Really just wondering: Does KU have one of the oldest coaching staffs? Sometimes old means experienced; sometimes old means old.
I no longer look forward to KU games. I don't even watch them anymore; just check the score the next day. I thought KU might gain some all time Ws over Kentucky this year since Kentucky has a first year coach who had only several months to put this year's team together. But, Kentucky has the same win loss record as Coach Self has been able to achieve-if that's the correct word. And, most would say the SEC is a better conference this year than the Big 12.
When reluctant Juan is KU's third leading scorer, that shows us exactly why this team struggles on offense. I also don't see the necessary intensity on defense; KU plays defense like its a pick up game. 60 second half pts to Baylor is BS.
