Lucas is 2/2. I wish he would shoot more
Ellis has 2 fouls
MState has 13 bench points to our 3.
Only shooting 8/21 from the field. I'm surprised our shooting is so bad.
The other half of us are on the KU and Apples thread. We should all get together.
5 posters are staying on the other thread. Let's all get on the same one.
@BeddieKU23 I does seem like WSU just doesn't have enough offense to stay in this.
@Bwag Calipari crying was just hyperbole, but it would be a season highlight for me.
I hope Conner hits the game winner and Calapari starts to cry.
@BShark I'm always against Kentucky, even when they are playing Wichita State. I hope to see the day that KU leads in overall wins.
I'm replying just to keep this post on top.
I sure like our POY, Junior, and Super-Frosh vs. their Freshman, Freshman and oh yea, Freshman top scorers on the court for MState today (Bridges, 17 pts; Ward, 14; and Langford, 7. RCJH
We are reducing the gap; it's now just 5%. Karnowski? Give me a break. 9 pts, 4 rbs. against Northwestern. Versus, BIFM. Why is this even a contest?
Michigan State's freshmen led the way against Miami: Ward, 19; Langford, 13 and Bridges, 18. Our more experienced and talented defenders are going to make it very difficult for the young Spartans. Devonte's going to get steal after steal. Josh too. KC here we come. RCJH
Against MSt, Mason will be Mason; count on 20. Josh is flat out dialed-in on offense and defense. He is ready to compete. Devonte is playing his best defense of the year. Devonte will give the young MSt guards fits. Bridges, Langford and Ward at forward are all freshmen and just might be a little overwhelmed playing us. I'm encouraged by everyone's game Friday. Let's cruise to KC guys. RCJH
Any matchups you are worried about? I didn't get to watch much of MSt's game Friday. Anyone else surprised the refs are flat out letting the players play? It reminds me of the Big 10 about 10 years ago.
Still voting.
Friday will be Lando time. Double double for Landen. If Landen plays with motivation, he should score his season high. Everyone, including Tyler should log some floor time.
Benton Smith over on KUSports has my back on spring football. He even included some video of Monday's first practice in the indoor facility. I've got the feeling 2017 is going to be a breakout year for us. RCJH
Big 12 homer here. I love Danny and hope he wins every game as a coach, except against Big 12 schools. RCJH and BIG 12.
What's the benefit or necessity of closing practices? I look at spring practices as a way for a few locals to observe and get excited for the upcoming season. I plan to be in Lawrence on Friday to visit my daughter before her big spring break trip. I thought I would look in at the practice fields if time permits. I'll report back if I see anything.
Keep Voting. I vote from different computers when I can.
@Blown Yes, KState has a play in game if you count that as being in.
Many of you just hoped WSU wouldn't be in our bracket and you got your wish. I would have liked to have revenged that last WSU loss. I can't wait until we play on Friday.
Fisher with 2 early fouls
I suspect it will be Frank, Devonte, and LaGerald who are forced to beat the zone. I don't think Carlton has the mental presence and passing skills to handle Josh's role in the middle. Carlton's forte is the mid-range jumper and I hope he hits 4 or 5 shots for us today. It's all hands on deck on offense to cover Josh's unexpected absence. This is a great opportunity for Svi to find his game. RCJH
Jayhawk Spring Practice starts this Sunday. I wonder whether anyone who posts here will be able to give some first hand reports from the practices? I'm too far away for the daily practices, but I will attend the spring game on April 15. I can't wait to see Peyton Bender, Carter Stanley and Tyriek Starks slinging the ball around the field. RCJH
I keep voting but the percentages stay the same. Vote, vote and vote again
A well deserved opportunity for Wayne. I hope he gets to play and doesn't just sit on the bench. I also hope his Uncle is in the crowd cheering on Wayne.
Looking at the OSU box score again, the OSU guards did what they had to do to win the game. I'm disappointed we didn't slow them down more. Carroll, 27 pts., Evans,22, and Forte,13 combined for 62 points. Our starting guards combined for 57 points, 60 if you add in Svi's 3. Our 56% (vs. OSU's 42%) shooting on the road was just outstanding. The bigs on both teams were comparable in scoring. It's easy to see, that our bench scoring 20 points versus OSU's 7 accounts for the difference in the game. Bragg and Vick had more combined minutes than the OSU bench, but points are points and our bench players won this game.
Still Voting...........
I'm still enjoying last night's gutsy win over the Cowboys too much to think about our former players. What a great win. I couldn't be more proud of these warriors. RCJH
Mason had a signature moment in the OState game that requires acknowledgement from somebody. I haven't watched the game again, but who else remembers Mason driving the ball into the lane against all five Cowboys and getting to the rim? There wasn't another Jayhawk in the picture; just five defenders and our POY. I'll have to go find it on my recording, but it still stands out in my mind that he is so confident, he doesn't need to wait for any help. Mason is outstanding. RCJH
@kjayhawks Nice post kj
Great road win. Mason, Jackson, Graham and Lucas are Jayhawk Warriors. 20 pts. off the bench. What? That's a sign of future success in the tournament. Here we go. These guys refuse to lose. We killed them on the boards 42 to 30. I read all that as much success to come for this team. RCJH
Josh Jackson if you're nasty.
Evans and Forte with 0 points so far. Carroll with 10
@BShark A 15 point loss? If we lose it will be close and only because our poor shooting is continuing. Our guys are going to Stillwater to win, not just go through the motions. At least I hope so.
How can Gonzaga with an enrollment of 7,000 out vote KU? Please get the word out.
Anyone else getting a vibe that KU football is going to have a breakout year? I read all the posts about slow, steady progress and being patient with every small improvement. I'm content with small gains, any improvement really. But, I'm getting a vibe that bigger things are going to happen this year. And it starts March 12. RCJH
The writers of the article fail to realize that the admission of throwing a drink in Vick's face in the December incident was an admission of battery against LaGerald Vick. There is no mention in the article about the young woman or her family being glad that law enforcement wasn't asked to pursue battery charges against her. Nope, just a complaint about disparate punishment for the conduct of the female athlete and the separate conduct of Josh Jackson. Jackson is apparently going to have a misdemeanor conviction on his record when his criminal case concludes.
It's certainly fair to debate whether Jackson's punishment was fair and appropriate. Coach Self gets to make that call. My concern is that the KC Star sportswriters completely overlooked the crime admitted to by the young woman and don't even mention what an appropriate penalty is for that offense. If the young woman hadn't committed a battery on Vick, I doubt that anyone, including Jackson would have vandalized her car. Jackson may have felt he was defending a wrong committed upon his teammate. That's not a valid defense in court, but it certainly factors into the appropriate level of punishment for Jackson's offense. Young people make mistakes. Let's not ignore the mistake by the young woman that got this whole thing started. I suspect that because Jackson's vandalism was in a misguided attempt to retaliate for a crime committed on his teammate, Coach Self took Jackson's reasons into account in deciding not to suspend him. Jackson was standing up for his teammate. He way over did it as young and immature people sometimes do. Only a car was harmed. All these factor into what is the appropriate punishment for Josh.
Sorry about the long post. But, Tom Keegan's article on KUSports about the same young woman left me completely confused. Anyone else know what the young woman was referring to by "rat"? Come on, Tom. What was she talking about? A teammate? Maybe I don't really want to know.
How does the No. 1 overall seed get to select it's region? Isn't that a new wrinkle for the tourney this year?
Oklahoma State's offense goes through it's guards, just like KU. I'll take Mason, Graham and Jackson over Evans (19PPG), Carroll (17), and Forte (13). I'm surprised by how similar the OState scoring is to our offense. As long as we guard the perimeter and make a few more of our shots than the last three game, we'll be fine. I don't mind raining on their senior day parade.
It's easy to vote. Keep voting, please.
I really miss Danny on our coaching staff. With Danny on the bench, I always knew our bigs were going to be good. But, I'm glad he's having success as a head coach.
I keep voting for Frank, but the percentages don't change. Come on now, everyone vote, please.
Keep voting Jayhawk fans
Josh leaves some points on the floor by going for and missing the huge, athletic dunk, when the ball could just be laid in.
Worst half this year?
OU is shooting 25% from the field and is in this game
Please vote.
