Day 2 Tournament Thread • Mar 17, 2017 05:41 PM

@BeddieKU23 Michigan survived the worst plane crash in the history of aviation is the storyline that I heard all weekend during the big10 tournament, therefore they deserve to win.

Day 2 Tournament Thread • Mar 17, 2017 05:32 PM

I was thinking that our streak of every tournament except one since 1986, 30 tournaments entered I suppose, 28 of them have seen us win the opening game, and if I counted in my head correctly, 20 of them have not ended until we've won at least two games. Pretty cool stuff. However you undo a jinx right now, do what ever you do please because I don't want to jinx us today.

@BShark Thankfully no guns! basically my glasses cut my nose. These kids are vicious

Day 2 Tournament Thread • Mar 17, 2017 05:11 PM

@BeddieKU23 I'm pretty much a teetotaller! For me an adult beverage is a pot of coffee, but you go ahead and have one for me!

Day 2 Tournament Thread • Mar 17, 2017 05:10 PM

Truth be told I'd rather still be at school, but all in all it'll work out.

Day 2 Tournament Thread • Mar 17, 2017 05:09 PM

I teach in a rough place and I got mixed up in a girl fight today trying to play the peacemaker. A minor shot to the face drew a little blood, enough to take the afternoon off. Basketball all day, here we come!

Day 1 Tournament Day Thread • Mar 17, 2017 04:12 AM

@approxinfinity I like Buzz too. He's a good coach and recruiter. They were tough. Nigel took over the game down the stretch. Yes FT's are another way this Badger team mirrors the Jayhawks.

Day 1 Tournament Day Thread • Mar 17, 2017 04:03 AM

Bronson Koenig makes 8 three pointers bailing out Badgers. Nova next.

Day 1 Tournament Day Thread • Mar 17, 2017 03:42 AM

ACC/east coast team getting every call against Badgers

I don't want Indiana to get a good coach.

Day 1 Tournament Day Thread • Mar 16, 2017 10:17 PM

Haha minnesota. HaHa idiot tournament committee who made the ground squirrels a 5 seed.

@drgnslayr I'll skip the beer, but when get that wine degree let me know!

Day 1 Tournament Day Thread • Mar 16, 2017 09:18 PM

Actually kind of wishing that Vandy would have been seeded where they belong, at about a 14 and they put them opposite Baylor and you'd have a Drew vs. Drew matchup.

@drgnslayr I don't know if it can hold a candle to Mt. Oread in Lawrence Kansas.

Day 1 Tournament Day Thread • Mar 16, 2017 08:46 PM

I'm sorry, but Vanderbilt, you had Florida's number, granted, but who else did you beat on the way to a 19-15 record and a NCAA tournament bid? And a 9 seed at that. You lost by 20 at Missouri. You lost by 23 to Middle Tennessee. I have no animosity towards the alma mater of my very bright nephew who just graduated, but goodness, you have no business being in any postseason tournament other than the Not In Tournament tournament.

Let the firings begin • Mar 16, 2017 07:23 PM

@jayballer54 Yep, we're gonna knock off Nova....I hope, but we got to win tonight.

@approxinfinity I assume Crean got fired?

Bobby Knight's got to be getting pretty old I'd think?

Indiana could lure a lot of good coaches away 'lesser' schools. This could create a big switch up in the college game.

Let the firings begin • Mar 16, 2017 03:52 PM

@jayballer54 I do somewhat, but growing up a Big10 fan mean it's still in the blood and I'll usually pull for them. But not over KU of course.

FAVORITE DAY OF THE YEAR • Mar 16, 2017 03:29 PM

About 20 years ago I received the greatest March Madness gift possible. A 2 day winter storm, school cancelled on Thursday and Friday, middle of March 1997. Sheer bliss!! Kids were too young to care that I hogged the TV all day, the wife was glad to have me home (I think) and it was just a magical day. Of course we had to play Arizona a week later and ruined it all, but that's another story.

I also used to rush to the store to get the USA Today. Had to get there early because they'd sell out. Internet's taken care of all that of course, and really the coverage is so overwhelming I haven't even read anything about it this year!

Let the firings begin • Mar 16, 2017 03:26 PM

@jayballer54 I hate to say it buddy, but you kind of kept forcing the issue before the other poster pointed out that it's not John, but Jon. His first couple of responses to him were a little condescending asking him if he knew who John Sundvold was. If someone asks me a question like 'do you know who jon sundvold' is I'd be like, what do you think I'm stupid or something? I'd get a little defensive too, and then maybe point out that it's Jon, not John. That's just the way I saw that conversation.. He and I have had our little disputes and we both finally just decided to move on and not get all offended. I'm happier for it and I'm guessing he is too.

Cuonzo Martin • Mar 16, 2017 02:31 AM

@jayballer54 Yep he was the Big Dog. I read a little more. He averaged 30 points a game his junior year. Imagine that. But in the defeat of KU he tweaked his back and scored only 13 against Duke in the regional final and they lost. That was a very good top seeded Purdue team.

Nice work Mr. Lumpy! Looks like an interesting campus.

Cuonzo Martin • Mar 16, 2017 01:53 AM

@jayballer54 He was the 1st pick of the draft after destroying us in the dance. Played well in the NBA and now his son is doing the same. Came out of Gary Indiana if I recall correctly which I saw up close last summer. Gary, Indiana is a great song, but it's just about the saddest city I've seen in quite some time. Street after street of abandoned burned buildings, the city has no money to even tear them down. Really really sad. Sports was his escape because who knows where he'd be if it weren't for sports.

KU Rap • Mar 16, 2017 01:48 AM

OK, to be honest I could only listen to this for a minute, but I guess some of you might last more than a minute.

Wayne Selden's famous uncle is a rapper I guess and he wrote this for his favorite team.

KU Buckets Bracket Challenge! • Mar 15, 2017 09:43 PM

@JayHawkFanToo OK, I'll join too because I still kind of want to do it. I've only done one bracket on the KU thing so I feel like it's kind of unfair (and it matters not a bit) because some fill out 8. I guarantee if I filled out 8, I'd occupy the last 8 spots in the contest!

Let the firings begin • Mar 15, 2017 09:42 PM

You two, @JayHawkFanToo and @jayballer54 are making my post one of the most commented on posts on here. Keep it up!!

Cuonzo and Big Dog Robinson scored 73 of Purdues 83 points that night! I think Roy didn't game plan for defense very well that game, but of course he rarely had the need to game plan for defense!

Cuonzo Martin • Mar 15, 2017 09:36 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 I remember Glenn Robinson in that game. Cuonzo made 8 3's that game? I'm surprised I don't remember that. Those two must have done all of their scoring.

KU Buckets Bracket Challenge! • Mar 15, 2017 09:35 PM

@JayHawkFanToo Interesting, I've had the same thoughts. I'm not doing one at all, first time in like forever. Not sure why, but just a strange feeling I don't need to waste the normal ten minutes I'd take to fill it out. This way I/we can tell people we haven't gotten any games wrong so far.

Cuonzo Martin • Mar 15, 2017 08:46 PM

I hate to see a good man ruined. I have memories of watching him on the State Farm Illinois state championships back in the day. He and Laphonso Ellis were quite the duo for that 3 peating state champion.

Has anyone picked KU to win it? • Mar 15, 2017 07:22 PM

@mayjay Save that post and let's go back to it April 4th.

Has anyone picked KU to win it? • Mar 15, 2017 03:30 PM

Saw some analysis of the yahoo brackets submitted so far and KU was the most popular pick to get to the FF, but was the 3rd most popular pick to win it behind, as I recall, Nova and UNC.

I'd love to see us break the 'curse' of being Kansas whatever that is and win this year. For all of our bluebloodedness, we've fallen short all but 3 times since the present format of the NCAA tournament. 50's, 80's, 00's, We've shortened the time between titles from 30 years between to 20 years between. Time to make it 10 years between. I know that's not an approach that makes any sense, but as you finished up, we have to win this, we deserve it. We're Kansas. But that poor defense sure worries me!

The suspense!!! • Mar 15, 2017 02:56 AM

Danny all the way. Well, at least til they play us whenever that is.

Ball Family • Mar 14, 2017 10:44 PM

@kjayhawks said:

Wait there’s more!!! (Like the flex seal guy). Just read an article in USA today sports that old man Ball said he would’ve killed Michael Jordan one one in his hayday. Lmao is weed legal in Cali? It must be…

Well when I was in my prime, I would've destroyed Kobe. Of course when i was in my prime Kobe was like 2 or 3.

Let the firings begin • Mar 14, 2017 10:40 PM

Danny Manning graduated with me in 1988. Literally he walked down the hill 5 people behind me. And if he's too old when Self retires, then I'm too old when Self retires. I am not old. Whoever here called me old, in effect calling Danny old is calling me old, well, we need to get an unfollow feature on here like facebook for whoever thinks I'm old.

Let the firings begin • Mar 14, 2017 01:43 AM

@ralster I don't pay attention to the assistants enough to really have an opinion on them. If you're talking about Snacks legal problem a few years back then I agree. But is there something else I don't know that makes someone like Sherron or Jamari better?

NCAA Favorite • Mar 13, 2017 05:05 PM

@BeddieKU23 Between Ku and Wiscy games, there's just not much time to watch other games. So I saw Purdue play Nova pretty tough earlier in the season, but lost at home, and then watched them dismantle the Badgers, back when UW was coasting along quite nicely. Purdue has been inconsistent. Not sure the reasons why. But what I saw was their size was just too much for UW. I'm a little worried by their size.

NCAA Favorite • Mar 13, 2017 03:39 PM

@BShark Their 7'2" dude is really tall. Swanigan is long. Those two are imposing. We're better but not by too much.

I'm Happy With This Season IF........ • Mar 13, 2017 03:27 PM

I'm happy with this season if.....

There's still money in my bank at the end of it.

The sun's still shining.

My KU degree still keeps me employed

We beat 16 seed.

We beat 8 0r 9 seed

We beat 4 seed

We beat 2 seed

We win final four game

We win it all.

DG hits a 3 at the buzzer to force OT and we win 75-68.

I'm happy if we play a 50-50 half and then slow it down and win 83-79.

That just about covers it all. In other words, it's been a satisfying season.

I won't be happy with this season if we lose to a team beginning with B

I won't be happy with this season if we make 14-32 FT's in the championship game and lose by 3.

I won't be happy with this season if we lose to a seed with 2 numbers.

I won't be happy if a mid major beats us.

I won't be happy if It ends like 30 0f the 32 seasons since I've been a KU fan.

I won't be happy if referees steal one from us in the final four by calling 12 more fouls on us than Duke (hello 1986 final four)

I won't be happy if our all American misses a game winning or tying shot in the lane a la Wayne Simien.

I won't be happy if our OAD disappears at any time costing us a win.

I won't be happy if one of our guys gets arrested again.

I won't be happy if Josh Jackson goes anywhere near a car again before April 3.

But generally, I'll be happy no matter what because at most we'll only have lost 5 times back to November, and because, well, we're fans of the greatest program in the universe.

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 13, 2017 02:07 AM

@sfbahawk The Badgers had a key injury to Bronson Koenig a month ago and they lost 5 of 6, playing exactly like you saw in the 2nd half today. He got healthier, and they finished the season strong. 1st half was ugly today too, but a late run put us in good shape, and then you nailed it, just played about as ugly a half as could be. I don't know what happened. Since that game ended so close to the brackets being released I'm guessing the result wouldn't have helped UW much as Michigan only got a 7 seed despite winning 4 in a row win the tournament.

For the record, I'm still really pissed about the Badgers poor treatment, but satisfied with the most important team, KU!

@Blown You missed it all! My best advice now is to look it up!

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 10:12 PM

Just looked at 19-15 Vanderbilts schedule. What a joke of a selection! 15 freaking losses. 8 in the pitiful SEC. 1 loss to Bucknell. Lose by 23 to Middle Tennessee. Don't know who should have gotten in instead, but there's no way they should be in.

Arizona deserved a 1 seed more than UNC.

And again, because I follow that other team, to give them an 8 seed and Minnesota a 5 is just totally headscratching. Pitino provide some companions for the committee? UW beat minny twice, finished ahead of them in the regular season, went further in the conference tourney. I know you all don't care but the Badgers have to play a tough 9 seed and then probably the overall #1. I wasn't expecting much for them the way this season ended, but they should have been treated better than that.

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 10:02 PM

@Bosthawk I think that loss to them in AFH was a fluke. We led comfortably, then just let our guard down and it became hard to stop momentum. ISU is going to like the KC site however.

@BeddieKU23 I forgot about that.

@BeddieKU23 Playing Kentucky potentially, never really easy in my view.

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 09:55 PM

UW beats minny twice, gets an 8 seed, minny gets a 5.

Bracket Reveal chat. Sneak preview • Mar 12, 2017 09:54 PM

UNC's got a much easier 2nd round than we do.

@Big-Clyde52 YES! My prediction from way above is true!
