@bskeet It will probably end up way off but who knows really. Last year was quite chaotic, aside from UConn.
This is the year my bracket does well, for sure.
@BeddieKU23 said in 2024 Recruiting:
Guess Zona was willing to pay his ridiculous price. Good talent but have a feeling they overpaid as well
His price was such that you could get a proven player in the portal for the same price or less. Indiana and KU both said no thank you.
Alabama is one to watch as well. Could still be Kansas.
@rcjhdraft said in Liam McNeeley:
Are we trying to dodge tampering accusations or something.
It's weird, for sure.
@FarmerJayhawk said in Liam McNeeley:
We'll see what happens here but it seems like McNeeley's camp wants guarantees we won't give in terms of role. Like sorry bud if Furphy comes back and we land a stud wing in the portal you aren't starting
Furphy definitely >> for next year at the very least.
Hmmmmmmmmmmm
Bossi saying not quite a done deal. Some messaging from KU I bet. Bossi is as tied in with the staff as you can get so when he speaks I am listening.
My info was coming from closer to the player's side here.
Around nationals time for Liam to announce, so early April. Nothing to worry about.

The Zach Edey protection plan is in full effect now in overtime.
It's absurd. I feel bad for Wisconsin in a game I don't really care about because the officiating is THAT BAD.
@kjayhawks Yeah the team went 12-30 from the line in a game they lost by 3. Unreal.
This will sound kind of lame, but I think it was just bad luck. 4 final fours and lost in the S16 to the eventual champ with a stacked team in 97. Could have very easily won one of those, but he didn't. Of the final four teams I think 01-02 was the biggest miss.
Then at UNC he went to the FF 5 times and converted 3 to titles. Given he had 3 more years there, it was a similar rate of getting to the FF.
Time to awaken this thread, with one of the memes of all time.
We good.
@FarmerJayhawk said in Liam McNeeley:
A wing that can handle, shoot, and play the 4 is right up there with an elite scoring guard on the shopping list this year. I don’t have total clarity on whether McNeeley is that dude or they want more of a bench sniper role for him (my guess is the latter) but there are always various scenarios that will play out from now until the draft.
We are aligned. Bill also wants a "versatile big".
One thing about this recruitment to keep in mind is it had been hinging on Furphy going pro. That had seemed like a lock until more recently. I do wonder if that may complicate things.
@TYOHawk said in Liam McNeeley:
Liam & Furphy at the 3-4 might save my sanity next year.
Yep with a real, proper 2 guard. KJ to North Texas. :folded_hands:
Juan isn't leaving, so it's kind of silly to think about.
Bill mentioned Parker isn't at 100%, so basically 6 guys.
Maybe a win tonight? Hmm

Misinterpreted something slightly. The Monday after Montverde's spring break ends, the 18th.
:face_with_monocle: the timing is lining up rather nicely for this.

Yep. Wednesday will be hilarious though.

@BShark good range of motion. Starting rehab, contact on Monday.
Really does sound like best case scenario. No tears is really what we had to hope for.
@Crimsonorblue22 said in No fear, the future is wide open, playing with freedom thread:
No tears better than expected! Should be able to practice next Monday. Go for ncaa's. Kevin ready to go Monday.
Best case scenario but even without a tear...he really...eh I'm not a doctor lol
@Crimsonorblue22 yes, fat fingers over here
@kjayhawks said in No fear, the future is wide open, playing with freedom thread:
Any info on Hunter??
Won't play in the conference tournament and I don't think he will be ready to play the first week of NCAAT either. That's assuming no tears. If there is a tear he's obviously done for the year.

For those with trust issues however, Swain said he expects for all the Liam stuff to play out within the next two weeks tops.

@kjayhawks I do believe he would have been better than Parker but yeah it is what it is.
People love to crap on Self for stuff and by all means I was not a fan of the Arterio signing but he definitely cares about the kids to some extent. We have him helping out Zach here and then we also see Tech and Illinois playing players through allegations. Self could have tried that with Arterio and I'm glad he did not.
@kjayhawks said in Looking at next yrs roster possibility:
@Gorilla72 I’ve heard that’s the deal idk @BShark can you confirm or deny such?
I would be STUNNED if Zach is on the roster next year. Rumor is the staff has been working with him in practice to get stuff on tape for possible suitors so he can hopefully end up at a solid program.
Jayhawk
Kevin gave a speech last year right?
@FarmerJayhawk said in It will be pretty hard for me to be excited for next year's team:
@BShark and oh did they try last spring
Time to not care about KJ's feelings this time*
:face_with_tears_of_joy:
@kuballin10 it's time to recruit over KJ.
He won't recruit over Dajuan at all obviously. I think you can build a great team around one of them, not both. And realistically KJ IS a center.
If KJ is back and projecting to start again. Even if we crush it in the portal (think starting caliber off ball guard that can handle and score) and other best case scenario stuff happens (Furphy/Hunter back)... We would just end up having the same kinds of issues next year.
@DanR said in BYU Thread:
One thing worth pointing out: is I have no doubt with Kev playing we would have easily beaten BYU. With Kev out we have no one willing to attack the basket through contact. He's also another threat from three. His D is probably the best on the team, and that helps Juando on D. (Really need a couple good defensive guys working together to create turnovers) Kev also bitches to the refs a lot, which takes some of that burden away from Hunter, so there's that too. LOL
Yep, Kevin is our only guard that hunts for himself really. I'm guessing KU adds at least three in the portal (we will have to see who all leaves of course) and I think there will be a priority on secondary ball handler and guys that can create a bit for themself. Otherwise next year's roster really has a lot of the same issues. If they are going to roll out KJ at the 4 again (history indicates they will) then we really need additional handling and shooting from the other two starting spots pretty badly. Furphy coming back would help a lot but who knows at this point with him.
The trickle down effect from Kevin not playing is massive. Jamari got completely lost multiple times on defense.
Speaking of bitching at the refs, that tech from the BYU coach turned the game, the next 7 calls were on KU iirc.
@wissox said in BYU Thread:
@BeddieKU23 I have hope that Bills words with Fran are truly spoken by Fran. He said he's not going to have such a thin roster again.
We don't talk abou this enough. Kind of hard to blame him when you look at all the transfers. This is all a moot discussion I think if even half of those guys stick around. In my mind Yesofu and pettaway (sorry if my spelling is wrong) were interchangable. Even one of the two bigs (again, we hardly knew them, Zuby and ??) sticks around. These things happen at least we have a bench.
At the very least, Bill won't purposefully be at 11 (and basically 10 due to the Zach situation) going forward. If gives you so much less room for error. And Arterio was definitely an error. Never should have signed him.
Posting something about this in behind the wall
Full quote here
“Well, my concern is will he play again this year? It's not a day-to-day deal, it's a week-to-week deal. He obviously won't go on Tuesday. I'm not going to put him out there because he's missed so much time. Even though you can look at games, the number of games missed but that's not the story. The story is that he played against OU and had what, two days of a little bit of practice and then played and wasn’t effective and it didn’t feel good at all. So he's got to practice for a good week before we put him out there so that he can go and not be reinjured worse because the big thing is I’d like to have for the postseason, where he's in rhythm, and our team has a chance to be the best it can be going into the second week of March. But, you know, I'm hoping we get him back but it's not anything that I'm I'm thinking it's gonna happen tomorrow or Monday. I don't think that at all.”

Yes, confirmed out basically. A friend of mine camping at the game said he didn't even have basketball clothes on headed towards early warm ups.

When HCBS said that Kevin tweaked it against OU, that sounded like something other than just a bruise.
Definitely don't underestimate a bone bruise. Someone ended up missing an entire NBA season over one, I think last year.
He looked like he was in a very bad way by the end of the OU game unfortunately.
