Took parchments jersey off
Hey, we have five minutes. Let’s see what happens…. Probably another desperation pick, but maybe a kickoff return for a td?
;-) just kidding
@Texas-Hawk-10 you are no fun
The ku one play touchdown drive didn’t give the D any rest
@kjayhawks blatant holds all day but d isn’t doing bad despite that
I’d like to see a pick right about now
Replay confirms that was a dandy throw by stanley
There it is
The kicking team can catch the kick. Unleash the offense
So KU says no notification received yet, and NCAA has no comment. The article is basically a rehash of old news. Nothing new except Jesse either has a source at the NCAA or he reads sports forums like the rest of us.
I also predict that before the UMKC game (now "Kansas City Roos" love the rebrand, minimizing the Missouri connection LOL )--game they will work out a deal with a local KC/Topeka channel. Probably will happen even a few weeks earlier if Jeff Long plans to show his face around in Lawrence... 14900 in AFH still leaves a lot of pissed off locals.
I don't have a problem with the five bucks a month, but ESPN+ looks like crap streamed through my (supposedly) smart TV. I've got 100Mbps internet and it looked like low-resolution dial up. I'm going to try running it through a laptop sometime before Saturday and see if it's better. It's just a pain in the ass compared to pulling up a local channel.
@FarmerJayhawk I need to go back and re-watch the game and grab some video. There were a several plays where the offensive line just completely wiped out the D line and linebackers. My wife even said, "I'm getting tired of you cheering about the 'textbook' blocking."
We don't have the biggest and strongest guys on the line, but they deserve a lot of credit.
I read (skimmed) this article three times looking for the dog punchline reference and it was in the first two paragraphs. I'm still not sure how it relates to anything.
@Crimsonorblue22 As you know, I live in Lawrence. I read the Larryville paper (Journal World) every day and I had NO clue the game was tonight (rather than tomorrow night) until about 6:00, when I happened to have the radio on in the car for about 5 seconds. OK, that's probably my fault...
But, it wasn't broadcast on our local cable, and I couldn't get "Watch ESPN" to stream the game through our cable provider, so I went to a bar and watched the 2nd and 3rd quarters. They were obviously showing some sort of rogue stream (windows task bar was at the bottom of the picture.) Probably a minute lag, but no one cared. Lots of enthusiastic football fans, and it was fun. Thanks, "Set 'em up Jacks" on old K10 east Lawrence.
I'm still ticked off that I couldn't just watch this AWAY game on local TV though. There would be a riot outside the AD's house in Lawrence if they pulled this crap with BB.
Anyway... Rock chalk. Guys played great tonight!
@nwhawkfan no one in Lawrence knows there was a game tonight
@Crimsonorblue22 Is the game broadcast on anything other than the ACC network? Pretty sure we don't have that in Lawrence, but I'll be at my inlaws.... Direct TV

Not sure if that link will do anything, but thought I'd try...
It was a group effort, Carter.
@nuleafjhawk Ouch. Walmart? Sorry, man.
Miss. Street garage and pretty much all campus parking is reserved for donors. Downtown or side streets are the only spots along with campus/shuttles on the other side of the hill by Allen or the athletic fields.
You can drop off at the northeast loop end of the stadium if you have folks with mobility challenges. I hope you made it to the stadium for the one good drive in the first quarter... but otherwise ... I thought the band sounded OK.
@nuleafjhawk where'd you park?
I always just park north of the stadium on Alabama, Illinois, or Maine or one of the side streets between the stadium and 9th. I have a Mini Cooper so that helps -- I can always find a little parallel parking spot pretty close that most other cars can't fit in.:face_with_tongue: You might have to walk a few blocks, but it's level from that area.
There are shuttles from the downtown parking garages too. (2hrs before and 1hr after game). Parking is free in the garages and the shuttle is $1. If you plan to go to Mass St. before or afterwards, that would be pretty easy.
Well, you cut the heads off the Royals three-headed monster and that's what you get. Wade Davis is probably done too. Holland didn't do a whole lot either after KC, losing about 3 mph on his fastball each year.
Guys can't throw 100 mph forever.
Meh. My high school coach had this dumbass philosophy (in the early 80s). We only punted on 3rd down ("surprise") when backed up on our own goal line.
To be honest, going for it worked probably one out of three times on 4th and less than 2.... even if you have good D, if your offense sucks overall, you're still going to lose due to the field advantage.
I actually think punting on third down would be more advantageous overall than going for it on fourth down.
Max's voice will echo in my heart forever. Back when I was younger and unrealistic, Max had a way of explaining losing a game (or four) a year so much easier to handle. Once upon a time when you could turn the radio on and watch it with the TV in actual time.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Now, whether or not Doke breaks his third hand is still a concern.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Silvio only needs to spread the floor about 8 feet to free up Doke. Looked capable in the scrimmages and he was a solid free throw shooter. I'd rather he put back misses rather than take three pointers. I know there's always a chance some team makes 65% of their threes to beat us, but we've got a stable full of horses to outrun and dunk them to oblivion if Bill will let them. Or, grind them into the dirt.
Also... no Memphis drama
@Texas-Hawk-10 Oh, come on, these days (with early departures) this is the most talent and experience most teams have had in a decade! We'll have at least four guys starting from day one that know each other well.
We could ride Doke, Silvio and Dotson and a handful of hard working scrubs to the final four. And instead of a handful of scrubs we've got Ben the Wild Giant, Prison Mitch, Cool Hands Garrett, MJ 2.O-baji, Euro Slayer Enaruna, a Chicago Sharpshooter Moss ... then the young'uns who would probably start on most DI teams.
Don't kill my buzz! We're loaded.

I am torn on the selling beer and wine.
Me too. I really love beer, but I can make it from 11am to 2:30 in the afternoon without it!
Can't leave and re-enter the stadium as part of the new policy, so that might keep people in the stadium until the end of the third quarter when they stop beer sales. Usually people went out to tailgate at half time and never came back in anyway.
Drinking wine at a football game... ?
To appreciate LL, you had to see -- and hear -- him (from decent seats in AFH) go set a screen at the top of the key. That's why the guards loved him
I went to Arches National Park on the afternoon of the 4th, and it was practically empty. Pretty cool.
Kind of like a beach... plenty of sand, but no water.
We'll get to the Pacific on Sunday unless California drops into the ocean after all these earthquakes.
KU's very own Royce Woolridge ended up playing at grand canyon

@BShark Once Doke breaks his third hand Mitch is going play plenty. He knows the college game and he's going to tear it up this year as best he can--blocking shots, setting screens and taking charges.
I'm cautiously optimistic about Moss, but the Self system thing seems to take transfer guys a while to figure out.
I've never been to an NBA game and haven't watched a complete game on TV since Jordan retired the first time.
Damn. I'm actually excited about this team like 2011-12, only fearing injuries a lot less. No OADs needed. Plenty of pieces for Self to assemble.
Anyone know for sure Self didn't just show Grimes the door? That's the usual M.O.
It was a weird weather afternoon from about 3:30 on yesterday in Lawrence. You could tell it was a bad situation: tropical, zero breeze, 80+% humidity, dark for late afternoon. I tracked the cell/storm from when they first sighted it about 45 miles away around 5:00 and figured it'd die out before it got to Lawrence. Sirens went off about 5:45 and it was still near Overbrook (20+ miles away). Had time to drink a beer and follow it on weather sites and TV, figuring it would die out. Last report on TV before the power went out was that it was between Lone Star and Clinton Lake, gaining strength headed NE, which to me meant it was headed right to S. Lawrence. (Luckily it was actually a tad south of Lone Star Lake which was farther south than they thought on TV.) I suggested to my wife that we just get in the car and drive NW out of the way, but she thought we should stay put. OK.
Anyway, I grabbed my laptop, computer backup drive, the dog, and the fire box with birth certificates and passports etc. and headed to the basement. We have a pretty safe spot in the SW corner under a very solid work bench.
Things learned:
- Don't store a bunch of shit under the work bench.
- Get a battery back up for the sump pump in case the power goes out for 6 hours again with 3 inches of rain (luckily it rained so f-ing hard so fast, it all just ran off)
- Don't expect cell phones to work with a tornado nearby (totally useless for a good half hour window when we really could have used info)
- Get something to recharge cell phones when you've wasted battery life trying to track a tornado
- If you have enough warning, I don't know why you wouldn't just get in your car and drive out of the way.
Hats off to the warning system though. We had a good 25 minutes notice before it rolled by. Sad to see Pendleton farm (pumpkin farm/farmer's market mainstay and farm to table grower between Lawrence and Eudora) get nailed and a bunch of homes just south of the city limits, but i don't think anyone near Lawrence was seriously injured.
I'm thrilled with Dotson back. Frankly, I'd love another year where Grimes has to prove himself to the NBA--I still think he's a legit stud, but just has to get a big chip on his shoulder.
I know you all are pretty worried about me. It missed my house by about a mile. Too close for comfort.
TRob is one of my favorite Jayhawks in the last 10-15 years, but I think Silvio is a better athlete and BB player. Honestly, the guy should've gone pro, but I'm thrilled to get to see him in a KU jersey for one more season. Nothing gets in his way. It's going to be fun!
I saw the last 5 minutes and that's enough NBA for me for the year. Maybe the rest of my life.
Niang was also 6-5 but listed as 6-10 in his playing heels
Tristan reminds me a bit of a Georges Niang who can stay on his feet.

Dot and Doke alone can carry a lot of the burden.
Hell yes. Dotson can get in the paint at will. Drive and dish to Doke all day long.
Man, I'm SO stoked Doke is coming back. Crossing fingers he can stay healthy for the entire year.
BULL SHIT
OH PLEASE. he hit it out of Morreti's hand after he was already hacked.
