I'm just amazed.
That is all
I'm just amazed.
That is all
Josh is just crazy good
If you live outside the area and you have DirecTV.with the sports package. You can watch the KU game on channel 791
Well here's hoping.
You know I never could understand the love and respect UK gets for it's basketball program. I remember a couple years the words Roman Empire and UK basketball one being used one in the same. I get the east coast basis but this love relationship with UK goes beyond just Espn and the east coast mafia.
Even in this day and age of political correctness, UK basketball gets a free pass. Just last year the country and the BLM groups were in a fervor to remove the confederate flag and plaques associated with slavery and racism. Hello? UK was like the most racist college there was. Where's the blow back on them?
Lets not forget UK's history of cheating and giving the game a black eye. How many times have they flirted with receiving the death penalty?
I will say this about UK fans. They are as fanatical as any fan. They'll come in droves and out of the word work to watch their beloved Wildcats play. Their fans dominate NCAA sites when UK shows up.
Either way it's interesting what you find when your trolling. .
For much of my life, I lived and died with the Royals, Chiefs, and Jayhawks. I followed them like a tiger on his last hunt. Intently. I couldn't get enough content or info on them. Before the internet you would always see me caring the sports section of the KC Star, or a magazine. I remember hoping and praying that my teams would make the cover page.
Like any person or fanatic with any addiction. I lived my days according to my teams. Their success or lack there of, impacted my day to day reaction to the world. Then I realized what an ass I was being. Now don't get me wrong. I still have bouts or obsessions with my team. Yet I've learned to change the channel. In this as crazy as it seems I learned to appreciate the sports and other teams even more.
With the great advancements of social media. Average joe's like you and I can become remembered by those that read the posts and comments that are posted. @HighEliteMajor is one of those rare cats that when he posts everybody stops and reads. @Red_Rooster is one the those one in million persons. rarely posting yet notice when he's gone.
These open forums and the plethora of social outlets create Kings, mass followings, and yes even black balling all apply. @highElitemajor and @Red.Rooster are I would assume average people like everybody else in life. Trying to make sense of life, and enjoy what they can. Yet in here they are icons. Everything they post or do is dissected to the point of ridicules.
Trying to be objective here. Last years conversations produced more hurt feelings, sarcasm, and some cases all out war than years past combined. I'm sure this wasn't the goal of he makers of this site. I'm pretty sure this site was created for Jayhawk fans a like could sit down behind their monitors and pound out thoughts and feelings, to share in the success of KU Basketball. Not to be mocked and ridiculed if something they posted was out of line of the general thinking.
@HighEliteMajor once said if all agreed on the substance what is the point of the topic. Something to think about.
Yep I'm feeling it too.
I really thought Coach was pulling our chains playing a 4 and 1 style. Yet here I sit the day after KU has knocked off the mighty Duke Blue Devils tying to make sense of it. Somewhere in Chicago the Mayor is smiling ear to ear.
What does it mean? Is this the offensive of the year? Was there something in recruiting circles that demanded Coach to change this style of play? Or has Coach reached a point in his career that he feels the need to mix some things up? You're guess is has good as mine.
Watching LL play last night started to bring back some memories when he so wasn't, wasn't, well wasn't so good. I don't know what say to, other than he looked terrible last night. For a senior playing his last season, he looked lost. Duke's Bigs were just manhandling him. They were relentless with him. There for a few minutes I thought the great K had switched to muscle ball. LL couldn't hold his spot, constantly being backed down in the paint. I'm not ready to throw in the towel on LL, as he does have a lot of coveted experience. Yet lets be honest as of right now LL is a dud.
I need to go back and watch the game again. Yet throw out the first 10 minutes of the game. It seemed to me when JJ was in there, KU had their way and even created double digit leads. When he was out, it was KU back to protecting the lead. Hence why the Refs fouled him out so quickly in the second half. Duke was scared and so where the refs. Whatever doubts you may have about this kid. Right them on a piece of paper and then bury them in the back yard, JJ is the real deal, and has only begun to scratch the surface of what he can do.
Can we change Udoka's nickname from Doka to Bodacious? What to wussy of a name?
I think you can see where I'm coming from. Man is this kid strong. Know what is even crazier? He has to play another year before going pro. Are you kidding me. I see another diamond in the rough with this kid. As he learns to finish around the rim. This KU team only gets better. No more of the opposing team clearing out the paint and letting their big go one on one with LL. If they do Coach will just bring in the bull.
Man I got so much more to say. but I don't want to over do it.
I have this ringing in my head. It won't go away.
Yeah I have no doubt he will.
Bottom Line is the season is far from over. Yet KU is further from a finished product than most thought. The rebounding and inside game overall needs a lot of work.
My thinking too. I just kept watching IU get one after another rebounded on offense. You can't win that way I don't care how much talent you have.
Bottom line IU crashed the boards and KU didn't. MY fear is this something that can me fixed?
I can see why Coach wants to play the 4 and 1. Yet one problem they were still trying to pound the ball inside. Man I'm really confused and to tell you the truth a lot worried.
Why no. Just stating the obvious.
Oouch and now the long flight to the east coast.
I don't won't to be a downer, but if this our game plan to get by with only LUcas in the paint. Man this is going to be a long season.
Frank the Tank
Wow what a game.
Well this is sucking
Man screw UK. We'll worry about them when they play us. Besides in reality they have under achieved with all that talent they row out.
Whoa my man. Udoka may look like a man but he's still a boy. I mean he can't even declare next year because he's to young.
I say hit the afterburners and let this KU team fly. It's seems that's what they do best.
OK maybe not such a good Idea to run with KU ???
I guess KU forgot how to drive the ball. I hate to say it but give me some bad ball.
Like a steady rain. It won't be long before IU is KU soaked.
God how hate those old Big East games. Man those guys would starting fouling down 16 with 10 minutes on the clock. Just killed me.
Both teams will play like crap and the game will look like a big oh turd.
KU wins. Too much depth, experience, and talent.
Just for fun. Wilt disagrees with you on him hanging and scoring in the modern game.
[link text](
I just don't know how you can say and speclate that Wilt would be nothing more than a middling top 50 NBA player? I just can't understand that. Well to each his own.
[link text](
@Kubie Man that sucks. I'm having no luck
Alright were is the great link tonight?
[link text](
I know some KU fans are like what in the world was that.
Hey it's an preseason game against a totally inferior team. Washburn pulled at all the stops to win the game of their lives. Most of their players are from Kansas. This is their dream from time they were old enough to understand the Jayhawks. Of course Washburn was going to bring it.
I know KU played horrible but understand the final outcome of this game was never in doubt. This was Coach taking advantage of an lesser opponent to run and try some new stuff. Well like this 4 and 1 offense Coach keeps talking about. I read even today that Coach doesn't appear to be backing away from this 4 and 1 approach. HIs reasoning? Guard play is the strength of this team.
I keep thinking Coach is just pulling the chain of us KU fans always screaming play to your strengths. Yet then again I'm not so sure. He was quoted today as saying we have stuff we can run in this 4 and 1 that we didn't show against Washburn and you want see in the next game either. Meaning what Coach?
Could Coach really discard his high/low for this new 4 and 1 ??? Your guess is as good as mine is.
All I can say is buckle up buttercups, I think Coach is about to take us for a ride.
Come on? How cool would it be if all the KU players grew afros?
Yey I was thinking the same thing.
Washburn playing the game of their lives. KU not so much. Bigs playing to tentative.
Alright now I'm in business. I know ads pay the bills but man at some you have to let up and let a guy watch the game. I started making a least of companies I wouldn't be doing business with. LOL
Relax KU faithful the first game is always like this. Yet damn KU can score at will.
Anybody have a good link for the KU game. The one I'm using is sucking can't get rid of the ads.
Well can't get the ads out of the picture to actually watch the game. Yet from listening. KU scoring at will, yet not playing no defense.
Poor KU saps. Coach going to kill them come next practice. LOL
So we are down to comparing Wilt to Shaq? Really?
I mean I like Shaq and all, but how can anybody reach that conclusion?
Sure I can buy the argument of taking a modern day player like Anthony Davis putting him in a time machine and sending him back into time. That he would dominate. I mean the game has evolved this we all can agree on. Yet you guys aren't wanting to look at the other side of the coin. What if we could bring a young boy Wilt into the future and let him harness his game with advancement in training technology, and coaching. Let that sink into your mind.
I mean they didn't even keep track of blocked shots when Wilt was playing. He changed the game in every way. He holds records that still stand today.
The thing is a special player or a gifted player is just that. It doesn't matter what era they are born in. I have no doubt in my mind a young Wilt growing up in todays game would still dominate. I always believe Wilt dominance would be so profound that they would change the rules of the game again.
You see Wilt was not only a gifted man but he had a lions heart. Even a post modern Wilt would give the best of the modern age all they could handle. King Lebron would find his ass on the floor picking up what's left of his shattered ego if he locked horns with Wilt.
Dude they changed the rules because of Wilt. Did they change the rules because of Jordan? Are they changing the rules for King LeBron?
Think about it? They changed the rules because Wilt was so dominate.

Naming the greatest is always a hard thing to do. As most times you're looking at players from didn't eras and trying to compare them. Not an easy task. However when you have a player come along no matter what the sport and they change the rules to level the playing advantage. That says it all.
I think that Coach has reached legendary status here. So if Coach is interested in some one then us fans should be too.
Look I know it's fun to look at some of these recruits and explain why Coach should pass on them. As fans we have that right. I mean after all we do pay the bills.
Yet if Coach is interested in a kid in some small town in middle America that only has rock roads and no internet, then I think we fans should pay attention.
One thing about Coach he hardly ever whiffs on a kid.
It's now official. Call in hospice the Big 12 is dying.
Hopefully when Fox/Espn showed up at the meeting the Big 12 at the very least had a sack to negotiate a guarantee that every one of it's members has a home.
I don't think Coach is gambling this time ↗
All I ever asked from Coach was to play to his strengths. Yet even this one has me reeling a bit. Is this the dawn of a new era of KU basketball? Has Coach lost his mind? or is he just coming to the reality of what he has and what he recruits. Could this hurt in recruiting big men in the future? Is the seven foot center a piece of basketball relics that only old timers like myself can talk about?
I have no answers. Just know and feel the game is evolving. We used to say combo guards, now we are saying hybrid big men that can stretch the floor. Has the true center become nothing more than a novelty item? I would say no as JE the lion killer is just now starting to crank the very potential he will be. Yet how many JE are their really out there?
Still I have to remain skeptical of this new 4 and 1 Coach talks of, well until I see it.
Is Coach being for real? or his he pulling our chain?
OK don't throw bricks at me.
However I'm not sure the link that was posted by @JayHawkFanToo was merely to pay homage to Coach. I would assume he's trying to make a point. Which is fine and he has every right to do. Whether you agree with him or not it his right, as @kubuckets is a free forum.
It would seem there is a divide or chasm being created here on @kubuckets, and maybe hitting a boiling point. Hell maybe I'm to blame?
Yet for those that trust in Coach understand that just because a poster or KU fan questions what coach is doing doesn't mean they or that person hates Coach. That is kind of taking things to the extreme.
I've read many of @HighEliteMajor comments and so have you. He has giving just as much praise to coach if not more, than he questions what he is doing. In fact remember after the MSU game when a lot of posters were calling for Coach's job. It was indeed @HighEliteMajor that was the calming voice. You may not like him and you may not agree with him, but I assure you he is not a hater of Coach.
The old saying goes there are leaders and there are followers. I would like to add if I may then there are people that are willing to follow they just want to know where the hell they are going. Some fans will never question what coach or any KU coach is doing. Then there will be those fans that say hey wait a minute. It doesn't mean one is right or that one is wrong.
To basketball and this topic. I touched on the this with @jayballer54 in another topic. As he felt unjustly called him out. In retrospect maybe I was wrong? Yet here is my point. To many KU fans want to compare wins, loses and successes. I understand it's apart of the game and human nature. Yet it's more likely the dumbest way to do it.
For instance after KU lost to WVU I read more than one post that said well Duke lost to Clemson. Hey it's means it's tough to win on the road. Like somehow Duke losing justifies KU losing to WVU. First there is a lot of stuff and things wrong with this approach. I'll try to break this down?
How good is Clemson and how good is WVU?
Which team has a better home court advantage?
Which team had the better players?
You have to compare KU and Duke.
Duke is in a rebounding year with another star studded lineup
6 KU is not in a rebounding year, and is trying to win it with the basically the same team they had last year.
How competitive was the game?
It's seems the Clemson/Duke game was pretty competitive? (I'm I wrong)
The KU/WVU was not competitive. Sadly KU got man handled.
You see you can go on for days. You see it's not that KU loses that bothers most KU fans, it's how we lose the strikes a cord.
I'll say one last thing. For you KU fans that think this latest KU loss to WVU is no big deal, you're sorely mistaken. KU just didn't lose, they got man handled. Not only that but this KU team has an Identity problem. Are they a run and gun, shoot threes, and midrange shots? or are they a pound and ground problem.
This is not a players problem? This is a coaching problem.
I understand where you're coming from, and I'm not in anyway projecting that you should stop posting. In fact I enjoy your posts.
I'm also not accusing anyone of making excuses for KU losing.
Yet Duke losing to Clemson has no bearing on KU's recent lost. Saying well this team or that team lost is no way bears in meaning or truth in why KU laid a stinker of a game.
The Great Wizard once said, not in these exact words. "It's doesn't matter what our opponents do it's what we do before the game and in the game that will decide the outcome".
Rumor is one time the Wizard gave his game plan to the opposing coach and said good luck on stopping us.
Like I said, I never understood why some think that another team loses a road game or that game that somehow that justifies KU losing.
I'll be the first to admit I'm not a level headed KU fan, because I think they should never lose. In fact I have dreams and hopes that one day KU will just run the table all the way to greatness. Level headed KU and basketball fans conclude what UCLA accomplished can never be duplicated again.
Not me.
Yea that is the danger with Diallo or even Bragg. Yet only playing Diallo spot minutes isn't the answer either. I'm not really calling for Diallo to start but I would like to see some more playing time for him. Maybe in the 15 mins a game range?
Ya I don't see where the drop off is when putting in Diallo over Lucas and Traylor? I just don't really see what Lucas and Traylor do that Diallo can't do. Yea Diallo is raw but man his upside is way higher than Traylor and Lucas combined. When Diallo steps on the court the opposing team has take notice.
The Ironic point in all this? Is the posters that believe Diallo shouldn't play will be the ones wondering why KU isn't getting any star studded players next year.
It is true you commented on the score of the game and then:
@sfbahawk Says, " Back up the truck and empty his office. Coach K is finished. Duke will probably never win another game."
I would presume this was an sarcastic comment on those posters that feel Coach got out coached in the WVU game, and is missing the boat when it comes to how this team should play.
@jayballer54 Says, "lmao, ya think? love seeing Duke lose, I guess we aren’t the only team to lose on the road huh?"
Maybe I'm wrong but a comment of "Laughing my a@@ off, ya think?" means that you concur with the posters assessment. Now if you just posted lmao then that could have been taking a few different ways, but you followed Imao with "ya think" and then "I guess we aren’t the only team to lose on the road huh?" lending one to believe you concur with the posters view on the issue.
My intent wasn't to make you out to be nothing, merely trying to digest what was been posted.
Not sure how we got on the making excuses for KU losing? Of course there are excuses. No I think you @sfbahawk and @jayballer54 are missing my point? Every time KU loses some one all ways posts hey this team lost and their not questioning their coach, and so on. KU fans aren't like Duke, UK, and UNC fans, we actually know the game and are not afraid to engage in the conversation of it.
Also I wasn't being mean. Merely said it never made any sense to me to compare other teams in that way. However in the spirit of this board I more than happy to apologize of I've offended you
Losing is part of life and the game. Yet how you lose and how you respond is what is important. How KU and coach lost to WVU is not good. To many negatives. We'll see how they respond. Yet right now I'll be honest. I wouldn't be surprised if WVU comes into the Fieldhouse and hands another beat down to KU.
I so hope I'm wrong.
