IMO, Burns is an excellent passer also. I haven’t see him dunk, though.

@rockchalkjayhawk - another issue is both drivers ran from the scene. I believe Texas law says you have to “render aid”. Running speaks to character. But - maybe Rice wasn’t driving or even there. I’ll wait for the police report.

@jayballer67 - My point is that coaches are teaching this sort of defense. Not blaming the refs at all.

IMHO, schools are teaching a defensive plan of “hack, grab and push” because refs can’t (or won’t) call all of them fouls. Witnes the first half of the last Houston game with over 20 fouls then not many in the second half. Also, the crud that HD had to put up with inside. The players are good enough to play better defense without all the major physicality. It takes away from the game for me. I know KU does some of it but not like what I saw with Houston, BYU, etc.

KU is prone to turnovers but I’m hoping a combination of EJ & DJ can constantly break their press for easy baskets. If not and they get hot from 3, it’s anyone’s game. Hoping for 81-61, good guys.

Lots of players who played at a higher level will enter the portal after NCAAT. Perhaps a better caliber player. It will be interesting to see, especially Liam.

NIL $$$$$ vs guaranteed playing time. 🤔 KU has great NIL, but some guys think “one and done” is more important. Decisions, decisions. “Can I play myself into a guaranteed starting role AND leave after a year?”

@rcjhdraft - There have been a number of players who shot well the prior year but come to KU and …. don’t. No guarantees.

Garrison is 6’11” and 245. 🤔

@BeddieKU23 - Looks like Achor and Allenspach are the two bigs, spitting time at center, about 30 mpg. There scorers appear to mostly be in the 6’5” range. 21 ppg from these bigs, but mostly Achor. Really deep team though, so lots of fouls to give. KU best be practicing FT’s. 👍🏻

Looks like Tyson Grant-Foster is having a great year at Grand Canyon. Does he have any eligibility left? Looks like 2 years of medical red-shirt.

The Athletic has KU as a 3 in the West Region playing Colgate in the opening round. If they get by, KU would face (probably) Wisconsin. No thanks.

As I look at the highly rated teams, most have PG’s that score and have a number of assists. Would really like to have that next year…

In an article on KU in “The Athletic” today, Self said KU hasn’t shot well since the 2nd game of the season. Article also said “KU is shooting 24.2 percent from 3, which ranks 361st nationally during that time, according to Bart Torvik’s sorting tool. There are 362 teams in Division I college basketball.”

So, KU needs, what, 2-3 good shooters next year to create spacing and keep the defense out of the middle?

@COHawk - agreed. Look at Houston with a senior heavy roster. They know their roles and every segment of the schemes.
