Can't go wrong with Mason but I think Josh will be looking for some payback.

BTW. Vegas line opened at 3-1/2 and it is now at 2-1/2; 80% + taking KU. I have KU winning by 4 and covering.

@wissox

Like @mayjay said, when I need data or facts such as dates. scores, stats and so on I will search the net and I will get the correct and unbiased information just about immediately; however, when I want an opinion or insight not readily searchable I will pose the question here.

I do have a pretty good recollection of events in subjects that interest me, including sports, politics and so on, and while I can remember the events themselves, I have to look up specific details as do most people my age.

For example, I remember the KU-Texas game when Collison got the standing ovation from Vitale...I was there and I can visualize it in my head. Now, if you ask me the date or score of that game, I would have to look it up since I just don't remember it and I seriously doubt any one has those number off the top of their heads and if I ask that question, someone would have to look it up for me. Now, if I want an opinion on the strategy or the flow of that game then I can pose the question here since that is something I cannot readily search.

We all have our own opinions based on the same facts since we all see it thorough the glass of our own biases and experiences, Some opinions are based on facts and some are not. For example we both can have an opinion on who has the fastest car and this is very easy to determine, just take the cars to the track and you will have an answer. However, we can both have opinions on which is the better looking car and for this there is no right or wrong answer since it is a matter of personal preference.

This is what the Forum is all about, discussing items for which there is no right or wrong answer but individual opinions and often we learn a lot more from the insight other posters contribute. There are several posters here that have coaching experience and I really enjoy reading their post because, even when I have a decent grasp of the subject, their in-depth knowledge is considerably better than mine...I am just an engineer after all.

Now back to KU basketball, we have a game starting pretty soon...

@KansasComet

This is exactly what we all had envisioned for Bragg at he beginning of the season and even basketball analysts had him as the KU breakout player but it did not work out that way, although there are 8 games left to play plus conference tournament and the Dance so he has time to turn it around At this time I would say he needs to come back next year but them I though Diallo needed to come back too... which goes to show how much I know. :smiley:

Yes, Bragg will be playing.

Today's Polls... β€’ Feb 06, 2017 10:24 PM

This is the remaining schedule for Gonzaga and the result of the previous game

  • At Loyola Marymount - 93-55

  • At # 20 Saint Mary's - 79-56

  • San Francisco- 95-80

  • Pacific - 81-61

  • At San Diego - 70-43

  • BYU - 85-75

The closest win was by 10 points on the road at BYU. I would be shocked if Gonzaga loses another game before the Tournament...the benefits of a weak conference, much like Wichita State a couple of years ago, Barring a monumental upset, no question Gonzaga will finish the Season unbeaten and ranked #1. Villanova has a tougher schedule but should be favorite on all games it plays and will probably finish #2.

Today's Polls... β€’ Feb 06, 2017 09:52 PM

KU is third in the AP and Coaches polls and 5 in the NCAA RPI. Gonzaga and Villanova are 1 and 2 and that is not likely to change. KU is still the #1 seed in the Mid West according to Bracketology...

I have listed several links to the various rankings. As I have stated before, I like Massey the best as I believe it is closer to the way I see it as a human and not a computer. :smile:

Court storming... and curbing your enthusiasm β€’ Feb 06, 2017 08:39 PM

@drgnslayr

I think it is BS because if 10,000 or 5,000 or even a couple of thousand fans really want to storm the court, no amount of prevention or security personnel can stop it. Even if you have 100 or 200 security people they will be outnumbered 20 or 30 to 1 and will just run over them...what are they going to do? mace them? tase them? tear gas them? I don't think so. Fans need to be educated on fan game behavior with serious consequences to them, the program and school.

@jayballer54

Do you realize this is a Forum where people can express their own opinions?

When you post something you better be ready to have other posters respond to it...that is the nature of a Forum, I, at times disagree with other posters and vice versa but, unlike you, I don't believe I have ever been disrespectful or rude; in fact, I often preface my post by writing...I respectfully disagree with you, and when we cannot agree...we just agree to disagree; this is what grown ups do.

If I disagree with other poster...be that about Chris Paul or Wiggin vs. Jackson or Big 12 Strength or what ever, I make my case with as much factual information as I can and read what the other poster has to say and sometime I am swayed by his argument and vice versa, but I don't go questioning his motives or accusing him of riding my ass. as you so eloquently put it, If you don't agree with what I say, put together a cogent post with your opinion instead of throwing a hissy fit.

The suggestion I made is not unreasonable and is the same I would make to anyone that feels his time is too important to do his own search and prefers other do it for him.

You are not taking into consideration the effect referees play and how poorly some games are called. With the NCAA new touchy feely approach that wants to see more scoring, good defense is now frowned upon and penalized.

Court storming... and curbing your enthusiasm β€’ Feb 06, 2017 04:51 PM

The PAC 12 fines schools $25k, $50k and $100k for first, second and third or more court rushes. The SEC fines are much higher at $50k, $100 and $250k; even the Big East fined Marquette $5k for rushing the court after beating Villanova. The Big 12 policy is "to control and not fine" which I think is BS.

Jayhawks in the pros β€’ Feb 06, 2017 01:46 AM

@truehawk93

Absolutely. I wonder if the Thunder might keep him as a coach at the end of the season; he is no longer playing much anymore and he is probably ready to retire from active play. If not, I would love to see him as bigs coach at KU; I imagine he is pretty much set for life so the KU gig would be more having something to do rather than making money.

Josh Jackson β€’ Feb 05, 2017 09:21 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10

As I recall, the critique of Wiggins was that he was to unselfish/deferential and passed on shots to a teammate that was open which endeared him to teammates and fans. A more selfish Wiggins could have averaged a lot more. They were/are great Jayhawks with super bright futures ahead of both of them.

Here is the answer...wear at t-shirt that says "Decades of Dominance" they will probably think it refers to their football program and be nice to you when in reality it refers to KU basketball and its domination of KSU. Make it purple...after all it is the combination of crimson and blue. 😎

I think the egos at Kentucky are starting to clash and the team is slowly imploding. Easy to have good chemistry when you are winning but when loses start to pile up chemistry goes out the window.

Nice start to 2018 β€’ Feb 05, 2017 02:32 PM

Doesn't KU have some high ranked transfers from Alabama that will be eligible?

Josh Jackson β€’ Feb 05, 2017 02:29 PM

Wiggins broke Manning's freshman scoring record and still holds it; his average is still higher than Jackson, although Josh still has time to get his average higher.

Moving Forward β€’ Feb 05, 2017 02:22 PM

@HawkChamp

Kindda makes you wonder how Coach Self won all those games without a game plan, doesn't it?

Like @Crimsonorblue22 indicated, Coach Self called several timeouts to correct the problems, but if the players don't execute, there is really not much he can do short of stepping into the court and shoving the players into position ala Calipari...it is not like he has a deep bench he can go to when the starters are having bad days.

@kjayhawks

Greenberg also mentioned that the conference has 3 team with legitimate Final Four talent.

OKIE ST TAKING DOWN WVU β€’ Feb 05, 2017 02:01 AM

Well...this was the Pre Valentine day massacre. The top 3 teams in the League lose...at effin' home, how rare is that? and how much parity is there in the Big 12 where you just cannot take a day off.

Greenberg had a video snippet on ESPN on the top conference and he called the Big 12 the best; he indicated it will have 7 teams and maybe even 8 in the Tournament.,,now if only some Big 12 fans had as much respect for the conference as Greenberg has. :smiley:

Spot on.

Jayhawks in the pros β€’ Feb 05, 2017 01:46 AM

@wissox

A couple of commnets...

Zack La Vine is out for the rest of the season so it is likely that Brandon Rush will see a huge uptick in playing time. Link here... β†—

Aldrich provides a very good defensive presence and he is used situationally.

McLemore has been in the dog house in Sacramento and wanted to get traded before the season. Unless there is a coaching change I don't believe Ben is in the team's long term plans. I fully expect him to be playing elsewhere next season.

Collison is one of the more fundamentally solid players in the League and he signed a 2 year contract that goes through this season and will likely see him to the end of his career. Barring injury, his role is no longer that of a primary player but a mentor and teacher to the younger players. I can see him going into coaching once his contract is up...he would make a great bigs coach at KU.

Vick and Josh β€’ Feb 05, 2017 01:28 AM

@wissox

Unfortunately it does not work this way, you either toe the corporate line or you are gone. This is true for most business where you do what you are assigned to do regardless of what you think or else you find yourself unemployed..however, most corporations are not in the business of keeping people informed and having the readers' trust.

Vick and Josh β€’ Feb 05, 2017 01:23 AM

@HighEliteMajor

Now, the Star’s editorial board is at it LINK β†—.

I just read the link you posted and that editorial goes beyond any limit and probably into the realm of libel. The information they present is factually incorrect and they blatantly lied.

For example, this is what the editorial said:

"t’s hard to believe that Self really had not β€œbeen made aware of anything.” But if that’s the case, maybe he should check in with Jim Marchiony, the KU spokesman who as The Star reported on Thursday, said school officials did know that Vick and star freshman Josh Jackson were involved in the investigation into the December report of vandalism, which occurred outside a Lawrence bar."

But this is NOT what Marchiony actually said as reported by the KC Star itself:

The Star emailed questions regarding the vandalism investigation to Jim Marchiony, KU's associate athletic director for public affairs.

"We are aware of the incident," Marchiony replied. "And we are aware of the investigation."

Marchiony referred a question about whether the university has investigated the reported vandalism, or will, to the school's public affairs office.

Marchiony never said that he knew that Vick and Jackson were involved, this is just a lie, because the Lawrence Police Department itself has indicated they do not have any person of interest in that investigation. β†— so it would be impossible for Marchiony to name players when the Police Department itself does not have any person of interest.

And this is just an example of the many not only misleading but patently false statements in the editorial. Frankly, it is a sad day for journalism and I would love to see Coach Self to "pull a Trump" during the next press conference and call the KC Star "Fake News."
