@Kcmatt7 LOL...

@BShark Hey, why are all the Shlocker kids leaving? Think they're tired of seeing the shiny forehead?

Anyone watching NBA Playoffs? • Apr 19, 2018 04:42 PM

i had Teague and Butler in my draft kings lineup last night. I was cruising along ...had like 240 points, so I'm thinking got a real good shot at making some good $$$. So, I go to bed early...wake up, and couldn't believe how badly they played. I didn't win a penny.

Nothing is going to happen to KU, or Silvio. Worst case Silvio would be suspended for a game ... maybe. Sexton was suspended for a game.

@BShark Mucus is nothing to sneeze at. I heard he's a pretty liquid player, but a little green around the edges.

If we do have a commit, wonder why they haven't announced it.

@BShark I'm not following. We have a commit for 2018 or 2019?

Anyone watching NBA Playoffs? • Apr 17, 2018 01:35 AM

@approxinfinity I hit a nice lick on Draft Kings last week. I wheeled New Orleans and the guards opposing them, and threw in Simmons, and won a nifty $125 on a .50 cent bet. Even w/o Embiid, I'm pulling for Philly... just for Simmons going off. And New Orleans is by far the favorite team of all degenerate gamblers. Any guard that can hit a 3 absolutely sets career highs against the Pelicans, and Holiday, Rondo, Mirotic, and the Brow are just money in the bank.

He said..."IF SELF GETS FIRED". We're now into the unicorn segment of the show...

2019 Recruiting • Apr 16, 2018 11:03 AM

@justanotherfan Marcus had a bad shooting year from the 3 point line. He still shot 55% from inside the perimeter. He will improve both his 3 point and his free throw shooting. He is too conscientious a player not to work on his game. These kids are young and growing their games. Garrett isn't the first freshman we thought couldn't shoot. Frank Mason shot 32% from 3 his freshman year, and that worked out pretty good.

@jayballer73 I saw my chatlife flash before my eyes.

Langford • Apr 12, 2018 03:44 PM

@BeddieKU23 We've got Cunliffe as well. The four guys getting the most minutes will be Dotson, Grimes, Moore, and Garrett. Then Agbagi, and Cunliffe. Not sure I see KJ as a 3, but ok...I'll grant that as a possibility, too. That is a really good stable of guards... the less talented guys have the most experience, so it works out quite well for us to bring along the rookies at a pace where they won't feel as overwhelmed by the college game. Another great factor we have going for us is that most guards pick up the KU system much faster than our bigs. It wouldn't surprise me if Dotson and Grimes end up being the 2nd and 3rd leading scorers by the end of the year. So, Langford or no Langford, I think this team will be really, really good at some point next year. UNC won a national title two years ago ( beating the 4 out Villanova team ) by stacking the box with simply a huge front line that teams simply had no answer for- a front line that dominated both ends of the court. And our front line will be just as stout, if not stouter. Right now, our team, with no one else being signed, is ...LOADED.

Langford • Apr 12, 2018 02:07 PM

Why would he wait so long to announce if it was IU? Doesn't make a lot of sense.

FBI • Apr 11, 2018 12:34 PM

The report called us victims, right? That is HUGE. They feel sorry for us. I think we'll be fine. When the FBI lists you as a victim, I don't see the NCAA coming after us over it, other than punishing De Sousa IF they can prove he knew about it, and gained from it. We're a long way from Death Row, and we didn't hire strippers for our recruits, so I think we will be fine.

FBI • Apr 11, 2018 11:25 AM

That's the final straw- we're just going to have to declare Silvio's guardian ineligible, and be done with it. Goodbye, Silvio's guardian...we hardly knew ye.

FBI • Apr 11, 2018 01:11 AM

@BShark That IS a bright side.

FBI • Apr 11, 2018 01:09 AM

@BShark Dodge Charger.

FBI • Apr 11, 2018 01:07 AM

@Kcmatt7 Matt... you're just too connected to the concept of equal justice, fairness, impartiality, and general goodness to believe this a true hit, and not a random event under a system of fairness that will eventually getting around to punishing the KYs and the Dooks of the Nike Empire. Adidas- "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" / Nike- "Shuffle some papers. Make it look good". It appears the FBI is doing it's best to run Adidas out of this country.

FBI • Apr 11, 2018 12:57 AM

This really sucks. So, i guess this means all the Nike recruits are all going to KY and Dook because they want the college experience, and aren't receiving a dime. Yeah, right. This was simply a plan to take out a foreign competitor through the long arm of the law. If they were actually investigating fraud, I think everyone of the KY recruits have been paid, as well as every one of Dooks. But, we will never know that, will we? Because they will NEVER truly investigate Nike.

Moore • Apr 08, 2018 10:43 PM

@truehawk93 Agbagi has interesting driving skills - he uses his body perfectly going to the hoop. That's very impressive to me. It took Devonte 4 years to learn to use his shoulder to create space, and this kid does it every time he drives. He is officially on my future Jayhawk pick to click list. He might not even smell more than 2 minutes, or he might red shirt, but once this kid starts getting minutes in future years, I think he ends up making a very good impact on our program.

Langford • Apr 08, 2018 01:54 PM

@JayHawkFanToo I'm sure if he was named as part of the coaching staff, he would probably get a title of "director of bb operations" or something, and be able to do as much as he could hold up to. Or, he might be there to simply help construct their offense/defense strategies. Maybe he isn't a coach game to game per se, as much as an architect laying out the blue prints for Penny to get him going the right way.

Langford • Apr 08, 2018 01:27 PM

@jayballer73 Larry coached Penny in the NBA, so there is a natural bond between them. Brown could be the gravitas that the Memphis coaching staff needs. You could have him as a non-recruiting coach, so he won't land you on probation.

Vick moves on. Forgoes Sr Year • Apr 07, 2018 04:36 PM

@jaybate-1.0 He's cut from different cloth. You can throw the normal reactions away with Mitch- he is all about KU winning above his own personal aspirations. He is the epitome of team first. He won't want to leave after he graduates.

Vick moves on. Forgoes Sr Year • Apr 07, 2018 04:06 PM

@jaybate-1.0 Mitch isn't going to transfer. He bleeds KU. If you tried to lock him out of the building, he would break in. He's a Jayhawk for life.

Modern Basketball vs Bill Self • Apr 05, 2018 01:20 PM

@dylans Like I said...big ball. Small ball with a very big guy.

Modern Basketball vs Bill Self • Apr 05, 2018 01:13 PM

@BShark You're forgetting we have other options down low. They won't be feeding Doke unless they're driving...they'll be feeding Dedric, who can take it to the hole, or take his defender out to the 3 point line, and make a 3 pointer. With Dedric shooting 3's, small ball becomes big ball. Now, you might see an occasional entry pass, but now Doke has a ton of help down low if he doesn't have a clear shot.

Michigan Actually Plays D • Apr 03, 2018 01:35 PM

@kjayhawks They were simply superior offensively, and defensively to every team they played in the tournament. They beat every team by double digits. They were the best by a long way, imo.

Why We Didn’t Win—Part Two • Apr 03, 2018 12:17 PM

@jaybate-1.0 Doke's back to the basket game was a sketchy deal. He had that little over the shoulder flip that would find its way into the basket about half the time. Other than that, it was all dunks. He did use an up and over move a few times, but he was not an adept back to the basket scorer. Instead of an entry pass, a drive to the hoop by one of guards with a small flip to Doke was the best utilization of Doke, imo. Going straight 3 ball wouldn't have worked because they were jamming the perimeter, and denying us 3 point looks. Tech did the same thing to us the first time we played them, and they scorched us. And Nova simply did the same thing- deny the three ball, collapse in the paint on post entry passes, and make us beat them driving the ball. But their defense was pretty stout, even when we drove the ball. We encountered an execution on both offense and defense that was elite, far better than any team we played all year.

Markese Jacobs • Apr 03, 2018 02:44 AM

Langford worries me. Things like this : https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/top-college-basketball-recruit-romeo-langfords-dad-rips-john-calipari-for-u-19-debacle/ ↗

@benshawks08 There were 6 or 7 "hero" shots where we tossed it up from the Alamo, and hoped it would go in. Things like that happen when you fall behind 22-4. The entire year, our coaching staff has been imploring the whole team to help on defense, and then we run into a team that turns that against you when you do help. Give the devil his due- Villanova lost two starters during the year ( which is the ONLY reason they didn't win the Big East ), and we caught them at full strength, going full bore. The things we used during the year that worked against other teams don't work against Villanova. So, I sure hope when they come into AFH next year, we have a distinct strategy to take them down, because I'm sure getting tired of losing to them.

We thought we could beat them with Doke on the inside. For every basket Doke made, Spellman made several from the perimeter because neither Doke or De Sousa can cover anyone out there. We overextended, and double teamed on defense practically every possession, leaving someone wide open. On defense, they crowded the 3 point line as good as Tech did against us, and when we drove, they collapsed on us, and made it extremely difficult to get to the basket. This was a total team loss, as we were out coached, and out played. I think if we had played our best game of the year, we still would've lost. Give them their due- they will pummel Michigan, and win their 2nd national championship in 3 years. It's been awhile since we've really been good on defense- my hope is next year we'll finally have a good defensive team again.

Time for a Defensive philosophy change • Apr 01, 2018 11:55 AM

Our defense was not good the whole year. This team got blown out on several occasions throughout the year. We never guarded the 3 point line in last night's game. Next year, we will be much better defensively. Our front line will be massive. If Spellman wants to go out to the 3 point line, Lawson will be in his grille ( we play Nova the next two years).

Thank You, Jayhawks • Apr 01, 2018 03:08 AM

It was a great year for us. The achilles heel of the team was always perimeter defense ( Jesse Newell had a great article about it a month or two ago). It reared it's ugly head in the Final Four against a great Villanova team, and so our journey ends. This might be the most flawed team we've had in years, but they managed to win the B12 regular season for the 14th straight year, win the conference tournament, and make it to the Final Four. This might be the best coaching job ever by Bill. He certainly earned his Hall Of Fame credentials this year. It will be sad to see Devonte, Svi, and probably Newman go, but our cup will run over next year with talent. Our front line next year will be HUGE. We will have several promising players coming in to help us on the perimeter. I will guarantee you we will be a much better defensive team next year, as the Lawson brothers, Dotson and company can really get after it on the defensive end. So, once again, thank you Jayhawks for giving us the gift that keeps giving every year.

Lets get it on • Mar 31, 2018 04:38 PM

@DoubleDD Villanova lost two starters during the conference season to injury, was competing with another #1 seed for the conference title, and played in a conference that sent 6 teams to the tournament. They have the best record in college basketball the last 5 years, and have a national championship under their belts during that time. I have tons of respect for their program, as they develop players the same way we do. They are now at full strength, and have blown out good teams out in the tournament so far. They have a difficult time getting many of the big name programs to schedule them, as they are always a tough out. IMO, this will be our toughest game of the year, but we will win.

Lets get it on • Mar 31, 2018 04:09 PM

@Crimsonorblue22 I'm rewatching the Dook game, and there were 4 or 5 simply great plays that Silvio made defending that changed the course of the game. No doubt, Nova is going to be hard pressed to stop Doke down low. At the same time, we're playing against extremely mobile bigs, and Doke still isn't 100%. So, whatever we gain by the Doke mismatch, we might turn and give up on the other end. Doke trying to defend the perimeter has always been a dodgy thing.

Lets get it on • Mar 31, 2018 03:57 PM

Ok, here is what I think: For this game, I think we could be a better team with DeSousa in the lineup. We're faster, more agile, we rebound better, and we play faster when De Sousa is in the line up. With Spellman being a big man who can hit 3s, I would like to see Silvio play at least as much as Doke. I love Doke, and I think he could dominate Monday night, but for this game, the more Silvio, the better.
