@JayHawkFanToo

You called it on the bombing away from the outside tonight!

@wrwlumpy

Soooo, when he doesn't succeed is he going to blame God? or does God only get credit when things go good and has no responsibility when things don't? Inquiring minds want to know.

Do we ever do live chats during the game any more?

I really don't have a good feeling about today's game against unbeaten #16 ASU. I think today will say a lot about the character of the current line up.

If they take the crowd out early, we're in for a long ugly day. Even if they don't punch us in the face first, they have some nice come from behind wins... this is a team that isn't going to give up even if they are down a bunch.

But... Vegas has KU by 11, and we're playing in the comfy confines of good ol AFH, so who am to go against Vegas and the good guys at the best home field advantage in college hoops. Plus, Hurley is an A-hole who deserves a nice long (and hopefully early) rock chalk chant to end that unbeaten streak.

Feeling a change in the weather pattern from last week, I'll override my nervousness... KU wins 77-71.

@jaybate-1.0 A real pleasure to read... classic jaybate.

Winning feels good. I think I'm going to feel good a lot this year.

Clay Young = 3rd Post Man • Dec 03, 2017 12:34 AM

Just peeked at the stats, Newman FG- 1-8 and 0-6 from 3, but 5 assists though. Doke - 100% 3-3

Clay Young = 3rd Post Man • Dec 03, 2017 12:30 AM

I'd have to go with just bad for Doke, he's pulled a couple of rb's, been a presence inside, hasn't fouled out, had a couple of dunks to keep his percentage up. Malik just looks cold and slow tonight, almost like he has a cold or something. But yea, DG and Vick look awesome.

Clay Young = 3rd Post Man • Dec 03, 2017 12:24 AM

terrible game for Newman, one of the few low points tonight (well besides the first 10 minutes of the game in general).

Clay Young = 3rd Post Man • Dec 03, 2017 12:14 AM

career high for DG and not done yet... sweet

Clay Young = 3rd Post Man • Dec 02, 2017 11:42 PM

Yes! Exactly what I was looking at the entire time he was in... good footwork, good position, blocking out, not letting the footers push him around...Really pleased with Young's play today so far.

And in other news... the amazing Fizzou streak continues... love it!

Mizzou turns over title game to West Virginia. “Tough one. Tough one,” Missouri coach Cuonzo Martin said. “I thought our guys did a lot of really good things. They competed hard and made plays for each other. For the most part they took care of the ball except for that late stretch for four minutes or so.”

The Tigers were trying to beat a ranked opponent for the first time since Dec. 7, 2013, when Frank Haith’s team beat No. 18 UCLA. Instead, the skid reached 19. Mizzou comes back to Orlando on Thursday to play Central Florida.

"He's going to score 80 pts on us" • Nov 25, 2017 02:58 AM

I ran across the little trip down memory lane today and thought I'd share. Amazing player, classy fans, come from behind win for the good guys to keep our streak going...

Also, nice spanking of Oakland tonight. It is good to be a jayhawk!

@BShark
Yes! just posted similar thoughts on another thread here. Super happy with Dokes play and he was my favorite player last night.

And yes, I am sooooo tired of DV. And even my non-sports minded gf commented on how even when we had the lead and made some great plays, they kept talking about how good their frosh were and showing UK highlights. Nothing unusual, but still gets old after awhile.

Man, that was FUGLY • Nov 15, 2017 03:05 PM

@RockkChalkk

That was my take on the game exactly. The only thing I would add was to emphasize how much I think Doke has improved. Didn’t get into foul trouble early, didn’t get too winded while playing a lot of good minutes, used his size advantage well against skinnier guys and, even though just two blocks I think, defended the interior nicely… all a big step up from last year. Plus no injury!

Not sure he’ll ever get above 50% for FTs but if he does everything else well, and at least gets close to 50%, that will be good enough for me. I do think he can expect to see a lot of “hack-a-shaq” plays on him if he has the ball at all late in the game.

There were so many “almost in” shots that just didn’t go for us - and a fair amount of ones for UK that did - if we were shooting even halfway decent, we’d have easily won by double digits.

That said though, I have to begrudgingly admit, those UK frosh (all five starters ?!?) really showed some flashes of potential. If they gel, and we know they probably will, they are going to be a really tough out in March.

But for now, the good guys won and yea, it was ugly, but as others have said above, I’ll take an ugly win over Kensucky over a well-played loss any day.

4 OUT Small Ball • Nov 14, 2017 04:28 PM

Loved Devonte at PG so far. My only question, and it's not really fair to compare against BIFM, is I can't count the times when there was a lid on the basket for everyone else, and Frank just put his head down, drove to the basket again and again and kept his team in the game, sometimes being the only scorer for minutes on end. Can Devonte show up every game and every game be ready, should shots not be falling for everyone else, score points to get us through those lean minutes?

But overall, once again, this team looks really good. We are so spoiled with how we well reload every year. I like being spoiled.

@HighEliteMajor

I respect your opinion sir, and we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.

JoJo given $148,000,000 by 76ers • Oct 13, 2017 06:40 PM

@HighEliteMajor
Well that certainly was a well stated case for justifying trickle down economics, which in theory seems logical, but in practice seems to not work out too well for anyone but the rich.

Should people be richly rewarded for working harder, smarter and/or better than everyone else? Of course they should, incentive is what keeps our race advancing. Unfortunately the obscenely rich tilt the playing field away from level by buying laws and regulations that give them an unfair advantage allowing them to keep hoarding and growing their uber piles of money. Rich is fine, the uber rich cheating to become more uber rich, is an obscene abuse of a broken system.

Back to the topic, does Joel provide the same societal value as a brain surgeon... no, not even close in my opinion. Probably not even the same value as most school teachers who educate our young. But we live in a land of supply and demand and as HEM pointed out, very few can do what Joel does and people are willing to pay to watch him do it. He did not buy or cheat his way to that offer, so if we, as fans, want to indirectly give him our money by supporting professional sports to the level we do, well, I'll bet not one of us would decline his offer. And as others have said, better him than the owners.

This is getting tiring. • Mar 27, 2017 02:44 AM

@HawkChump and @notokayhawks

I totally get that it sucks to lose. I also get that it's human nature to want to blame someone for our disappointment. And I realize that we all have different ways of expressing grief, I was pretty crushed last night too.

But posters like you make me wish there was a mute feature on this site. This is a "fan" site. I came to these boards last night during the game because I wanted to hangout with fans who cheer their team on through thick and thin. Like DoubleD was. Even after being down by 20 and playing one of the worst games of our season we still fought back to a two possession game with a few minutes left.

But reading both of you whine the whole game totally killed the board experience for me.

Yes, you have the right to post whatever you want, but maybe for next season's games you could start a separate thread for the negative whiners to bitch and moan and see who can outcomplain each other, and leave the other game thread for people who try to send out hope and positive vibes to others here, and to the team we care so much about and that gives us so much enjoyment.

I'll end with my own two cents worth about the game... we played hard, we were not outcoached, we did not choke, we aren't recruiting the wrong type of players, the refs did not lose the game for us, we were not overseeded... we simply had a night where some key players got cold and the opponents had players that got insanely hot. 4 out 5 times we beat that team.

Two teams take the court and play a game of a thousand subtle variables. Even though one team often has an edge, outcomes are not pre-destined. That's why winning feels so good.

Going home boys. Well at least they don't have far to go.

See y'all next year

Nice block on frank by Jj

Svi, please bail us out this game!

Graham, where'd you go? Bad time to have your worst game of the year

Hard to beat a team that can't miss and you go 0 for 9 from 3

Ouch, this is not good. They are playing lights out and graham and JJ are no shows. Crap

@wissox said:

@HawkChamp You're going to keep beating this drum and at the end tell us all "I told you so?"

Jeez I hope not

@HawkChamp

Nice buzzkill

No way the ducks can keep that up for a whole nuther half, just like Purdue couldn't. JJ is going to light it up

I don't think we're done yet because BIFM, Josh, Graham, and LL are definitely not ready for this to be the last game they will ever play together in.

Reverse 360 • Mar 24, 2017 01:49 PM

I liked this little nugget from the CBS site (who, unlike ESPN, actually had some stories about us on the front page)...

You know it’s going good when one of the backup guards is calling his shots.

“He said he was going to get a defensive stop and get a run-out,” teammate Carlton Bragg said of Vick. “If he was going to get a run out, it was going to be a 360. I said, ‘Let’s see it then.’ ’’

The best way to describe what happened next may be the best way to warn Oregon for Saturday.

Duck!

Great quote from Landen • Mar 22, 2017 05:55 PM

I hate flopping too... it seems beneath us.

But then again, if the refs aren't calling flagrant fouls, perhaps if we just elaborated just a wee bit now and then to draw their attention to the tactics being used, rather than just man up and shrug off all the hacking we endure, it might not be too bad.

But if not done sparingly and done well, it sure would give the haters more to hate about us. And to Eric-san's point, I don't ever want to see BIFM do it.

Great quote from Landen • Mar 21, 2017 04:13 PM

Now that would be a sight to see, Lebron flopping on a fake jab from BIFM!

No I didn't see that article you linked to on CBS, but did see this crappy one ↗ about us. Grrrr. I almost created an account to log in just to say "Bite me.." It will be so nice finally shut up all the naysayers.

(but we will so have to eat crow for years to come if we flame out early again this year. Please, please, please Basketball Gods, don't let us flame out early this year. Tell me what it will take to appease you - I could sacrifice one of my Misery neighbors flags to you in offering, I could buy Adidas instead of Nike's next time I need tennies, you could even make us suck next year if you absolutely had to, just let us make the FF at least)

1st Round Upsets • Mar 13, 2017 07:01 PM

@kjayhawks

Someone drank the purple Kool-aid! But I hear you, good defensive teams do well. And while that concept may work for Wake Forrest (#63 vs 283 Def Eff) but how do you figure that #63 defense can beat Cinci at #8?? Link here ↗ to the stats I used.

And if they somehow manage that, you think they can beat UCLA??? You will probably be the only person outside of Manhattan to think that and will definitely have a lock on winning your pool if that ever happened and I will be in awe of your crystal ball skillz!

A more likely scenario is they just barely lose to Wake and blame the refs :satisfied:

1st Round Upsets • Mar 13, 2017 05:04 PM

@BeddieKU23

Yea, would love to see Oregon lose, but even without Boucher, they almost beat AZ in the Pac12 tourney. ESPN knucklehead Myron Medcalf actually has them winning our bracket and going to the FF. That so ain't gonna happen, but doubt they lose to Iona.

The numbers are pretty strong indicators... sure hope they are wrong about defensive efficiency this year, but have to admit, it does make sense.

Spoiler alert, it has Kensucky to win it all. Screw that. We play all 40 minutes with good defense for the next six games and we cut down the nets.

Defense wins dances...
