Annual KU Buckets awards • Apr 26, 2022 09:53 PM

Ok seriously. I nominate @Jethro for the “New Superstition Award” on account of his new name making us win it all.

I nominate @Jethro for “Cash amount to be named later”

@approxinfinity whoops sean may was 05, was thinking about another roster

KU/Big 12 NBA draft decisions thread • Apr 26, 2022 10:58 AM

@BShark :) sure, sean may got onto the bus to success. There has to be quite a few ppl, maybe not bluebloods.

KU/Big 12 NBA draft decisions thread • Apr 26, 2022 10:55 AM

Surely the NIL rules change the equation somewhat though @BShark . Doesnt transparency and consistency in the NIL market allow for more clear comparison to pay at the pro level, causing an increase in pay for some to make it equitable, and more clarity in the decision making process? Is there anyone you would say at this point that stayed when they would have not stayed before? Tschiebwe maybe?

Would Caleb Love have returned to school without NIL in place?

KU/Big 12 NBA draft decisions thread • Apr 24, 2022 07:11 PM

It feels like we are just scratching the surface of how lucrative NILs can be. Having an advertising presence can help build a brand that someone who is social media savvy (like Jalen maybe) might capitalize on after college whether or not he goes league

JCL didnt get the role a 1500 point scorer might have expected. Never seemed once to complain or suffer because of it. Team player and wearing a championship ring. Would love to see him catch on as a coach.

@Texas-Hawk-10 said in What no one wants to mention Jay Wright retiring?:.

Bill Self and Jay Wright coached against each other 4 times in the NCAA tour tournament and the winner always went on to win the NCAA championship. They are the two best coaches of this era to me.

Well put

Annual KU Buckets awards • Apr 22, 2022 02:41 PM

Because we didnt win as much individual hardware... I would like to create an (un)official KUBuckets annual Ochai Agbaji award for the biggest team player on the team. This year the award goes to Ochai Agbaji, with Dajuan 2nd in my voting and Dave third.

Dave Mccormack wins the first annual Dave Mccormack award for grit and grind, Wilson wins the Jalen Wilson versatility award, Remy wins the Remy Martin xfactor award, and CB wins the CB award for talking the talk while walking the walk.

08 guards appreciation • Apr 21, 2022 04:21 PM

@Kcmatt7 i have to admit i had withdrawl symptoms after that team. I was irritated with Self because it felt like he was restricting some of our later teams’ guards ability to gamble while he let Chalmers and Robinson jump whatever they wanted.

08 guards appreciation • Apr 21, 2022 04:12 PM

@Kcmatt7 i think it makes sense that they were on the same team, as a lot of those steals were jumping passing lanes and they were both great on ball defenders not to mention the bigs and rush guarded well so there were lots of passing lanes to jump.

EMPEROR OF BASKETBALL • Apr 20, 2022 11:12 PM

Hmmm whats up Cam, Brendan, Mark?

Ben McLemore • Apr 20, 2022 11:07 PM

@BShark grat article all around. I love to see how Mclemore has grown from a good kid to a good man. And I love to hear Self talking about capitalizing on the momentum that winning it all has given us.

Positive/Feel Good Stuff • Apr 20, 2022 01:30 AM

@Kcmatt7 congrats man. My youngest is a hellion born shortly before lockdown. Hopefully yours will be a little more diplomatic… but only a little. It will be interesting to see how history divides the generations. My guess is there will be some stark differences between those growing up pre and post COVID, and im guessing these guys will live with eyes wide open.

Who won the 2021-2022 tournament? • Apr 19, 2022 02:21 AM

You wouldnt know looking at ESPN. But Coach K got a new puppy. Who is that? Never heard of him.

We cant have one story on ESPN speculating as to our boys’ intentions because they simply don’t know and don’t want to know.

@Crimsonorblue22 that pic of andrew jones is nuts. Shows the extent these kids will sacrifice their bodies to get a few inches of advantage on their opponent. Baller.

Positive/Feel Good Stuff • Apr 18, 2022 03:04 PM

The news needs to stop being the murder, malign and fight hour. No wonder kids are unaware of the news. Sprinkle in some kindness and genius.

“After the what-ifs of 2020 and a disappointing exit in 2021, Bill Self's squad made their intentions known with wins over Texas Tech and Creighton. “

Texas Southern and Creighton. Texas Tech fans think they could have beaten us in the tourney whilst chalking up losses they didnt even play, haha.

@BShark yeah but… yeah….

@bskeet maybe with legit tall guys coming in Dave could play the 4?

I want whatever is best for Dave. Its hard to say what that is.

Dave Mccormack, KU legend. As Mark Jackson used to say, “mama there goes that man”

Next Year's Team Thread • Apr 16, 2022 02:23 AM

@Jethro cowboys and lakers suck.

Yankees overpay.

I think of KU more like the spurs. Always good (even if theyre rebuilding right now) , great coach with a long tenure.

If anyone wonders how the ranked wins play out for percentages in the last decade… then offset this with the massive recruiting advantage duke has. https://betiq.teamrankings.com/college-basketball/betting-trends/win-loss-records-vs-ranked-opponent/?season=since-2012-2013 ↗

2022 Transfer Portal Thread • Apr 14, 2022 11:43 PM

The change in transfer rules has really changed my feeling about departures. We can afford to lose guys like KJ more now. It makes it easier to just wish him the absolute best if he leaves, because if he becomes a starter and a stud somewhere else then he chose wisely. Id love to see him 4 years in crimson and blue, but Id also love to see him become a beast at a place where he gets extended run.

Gradey Dick • Apr 14, 2022 11:01 PM

Hope we get some good soundbites from the Frans of this world. Something like “hes crazy passing up Dick for the Wilder jam. Right now Dick is automatic.”

2022 Transfer Portal Thread • Apr 12, 2022 12:49 PM

@BShark im starting to wonder if Self recruited Remy and Cam to be practice players, Remy having lit us up twice and Cam resembling the brothers that almost beat us last year.

KU/Big 12 NBA draft decisions thread • Apr 10, 2022 01:33 PM

I think they both go. But that entirely depends on Jwills NBA feedback. If his measureables arent good he will have to decide if being the man for another season would help him.

WE ARE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS • Apr 10, 2022 01:30 PM

@jayballer67 i think the duke unc ff was 18.5. Hopefully we opened some eyes for those who watched UNC beat Duke then lose to us. #BWKU

@jayballer67 glad you're ok, seems like you should not do nothing in this situation, it's not like you did anything to provoke then unloading in your direction in the first place.

Been thinking about Remy and Self all day. What a beautiful thing for Self to recognize how much we needed Remy and to trust him and for Remy to deliver.

THANK YOU, JAYHAWKS • Apr 08, 2022 10:47 AM

@DanR haha you made my day

Reflections in the afterglow • Apr 07, 2022 10:55 PM

This year was pretty damn special. Coming in with low (realistic?) expectations and then having the team step up in such a big way. I have a newfound appreciation for Self. He deeply understood this team and it was a pleasure to watch him operate. He proved that he is very much a modern coach and still has the magic touch when it comes to managing personalities and drawing the best out of players.
