Marcus, Ochai, Lightfoot basically give you the same value. Ochai wasn’t expected to produce and seems to have more upside so he’s loved. Mitch is what he is and you either love him or hate him to some extent. Marcus further polarizes people because he is near his potential (without a shot overhaul) and gets a ton of minutes.

Yikes Grimes hanging out with Moore and Teahan production wise. Just giving those minutes to someone else makes KU instantly better.

On the other end Dok at a 30 PER is worth any two of those fellows production and there’s only so many spots on the floor.

And yes, advanced stats say we are right in liking McCormack too!

It’s hard to rebound a Garrett miss because the paint is packed with defenders. He really must get better at shooting if he’s to stay on the floor more than 15mpg.

KU preseason #3

@Texas-Hawk-10 not a fan of the Pepsi center. Horrid basketball environment.

I’m kind of worried about defense. Kansas has really struggled to defend the three. Spreading the floor even more won’t help that, but maybe shooting percentages will drop a bit just due to distance.

The DeVonte, Svi, Newman combo would’ve been even harder to stop with the floor spaced that much more. This years team doesn’t seem to have the long range gunners, it maybe it hurts spacing...or maybe it helps get Garrett’s man a little further out of the paint when he sags down?

Funny thing is no one wants to watch without LeBron. The ratings are horrid.

@Crimsonorblue22 #2 pick should be close to a sure thing. Analysts seem to think he has a high floor. We shall see. Best case scenario he jumps up to whatever level of a ball the group of good young guys advancing ahead of him is in and they can come into the bigs together.

@HighEliteMajor you’re describing something that already exists, women’s college basketball. Those women are fundamentally sound and run program ball. I watch men’s b-ball to see freak athletes try and fit into a system before they are allowed to do whatever they want in the nba (iso heavy).

The catcher would’ve been nice, but isn’t Whitt Jr. considered the #2 prospect? Supposed 5 tool guy, he should be decent. Seems small though.

His jr year should be nice, Grimes just took a redshirt to get there so we don’t get to watch him develop.

It’s scary as hell in that moment, but to cower in fear over every warning or super cell is dumb as it gets - such a waste of energy.

Storm chasers are a huge pain in the keister. Those jerks tend to park in the middle of the road making travel dangerous.

I live in tornado alley you don’t have to chase them, just spend more time outside than inside during the spring/summer, you’ll see one eventually.

You are scared of the wrong thing. 450 Americans die every year from falling out of bed; 60 from tornados.

@Crimsonorblue22 Yeah and a little girl got beaned in the face at a baseball game yesterday. Shit happens. People are a hell of a lot more scary and far more likely to hurt you. Period. Nature is to be respected. Some people are just scared of everything.

I’ve seen 7 tornados in the last 5 years. No need to pee yourself, just plan accordingly. Weather worriers- build a bunker or ark!

@nuleafjhawk I’m definitely not afraid of tornados. I respect their devastating power, but unless they sneak up on you or are barreling down on your exact location, they are not scary at all. More of an awesome power that should be respected. In Lawrence amongst the trees and hills they are scary. On the plains where you can see it for miles not scary unless you are a huge wildcat.

Desperate times. The team was much better with good Vick and healthy Dok, so it was kinda working.

I don’t think he showed him the door so much as he held it open on the way out. His release sure didn’t sound like Bill was going to miss him.

As frustrated as I am as a fan about recruiting I can only imagine how the staff feels. And they have to keep a smile on and go do it again today. Played twice in the same month. Poor guys, hope they have a plan D E and F.

I’m kinda over kids who don’t want to be at KU. F’em. If he shows up KU will be better (and he will play hard), but DeVonte declaring he would skip the combine and return to KU was the coolest thing I can think of. Wish we could get that kind of commitment out of another player of that caliber.

Hard reality is even the few guys who make the nba don’t often last very long. It’s hard to hold on to that wealth as a youngster and how many last more than 10 years? (I heard the numbers recently on guys in more than 14 years and it’s not many- don’t recall exactly or I’d quote it)

There is a lot of life left after 29.

I’m excited to see what a more polished Silvio can do! He was just getting going late his freshman year.

Here’s my new mindset - KU will never land another top 100 recruit. That way IF they do sign one I can be happy and not pissed at every whiff. There are far more misses than hits the way this staff recruits, wide net.

Why wouldn’t Grimes just go overseas for a year and re-enter the draft next season? He’s not really nba material unless we truly only saw 50% of what he can do. Cough * bullsnit cough *

Last years team didn’t excite. This upcoming roster doesn’t look very great either. Definitely not a championship contender without another addition and a ton of luck. And possibly a first round exit without Dotson.
