@BShark Old age. UTEP.
@Woodrow Agree.
Agbaji is awful tonight.
I remember Roy losing to ETSU in the NCAA back in the early 90s. Bad memory.
Here goes to another gut wrenching season. My stomach has started early.
Couldn't leave you hanging after such a great game!
@kjayhawks I don't want to sound like some sanctimonious prick but there is only ONE Jo Jo
Damn, I do sound like a sanctimonious prick.
Oh well.
Go Yankees! A Dodger v Yankees World series will bring in the most viewers than any other combo. I'd like to see them meet up for the first time since the '80s.
@approxinfinity Well, my freshman year was 1977 from Leavenworth HS so I've had a head start.
@ajvan
That one will stick with me always as one of the worst tourney exits of all time.
I've hated Arizona ever since. Another school that seems to skate NCAA penalties.

Frank Mason never made it as an undersized score first guard at Kansas either.
He was sarcastic on that one. I know most of us here absolutely love Frank.
I absolutely missed the sarcasm font on my first read. Thank you for pointing that out.
I would have a very tough time picking a single favorite player. Paul Pierce? Richard Scott? Manning? Mario? TRob? The Morri? Mason/Graham? Woodberry?
I can't do it.

Mason averaged 20.9 ppg his senior year while having his best year as the point guard. He did win just about every player of the year his SR season. Other than that though or I'd just agree with you.
Anybody up this way going to see KU beat Duke? I'll be there. NYC has an active alumni fan base that meets at the Cornerstone Tavern on 50th Street and 2nd Avenue.

NCAA: No Academic Violations at UNC
Ruling comes despite university’s finding that many athletes were for years enrolled in and passed courses they did not attend and that were not taught by anyone.https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2017/10/16/breaking-ncaa-finds-no-academic-fraud-unc ↗
I don't buy into the "everyone else is doing it" excuse either but doesn't it seem that the NCAA has always had double standards? Some schools seem immune to NCAA violations.
For the MILLIONTH time. The NCAA can not do ANYTHING about classes that a college accredits and offers to all students. UNC cheapened it's university for sports, but not illegal.
Hey BigBad, I believe you but the NCAA still investigated although the 'NCAA does not have oversight authority for university academic programs' (wiki). Can't the NCAA still charge the University with loss of institutional control?
Les just needs to get his own recruiting class or two to really turn things around. If Kansas State can put together a winning program than we sure as well can.
@jayballer73 The longer KU fights theses charges and I'm not saying the shouldn't, recruiting is going to be challenging.
In a move that puts California on a collision course with the NCAA, Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed a bill effectively allowing college athletes in the state to earn compensation for the use of their likeness, sign endorsement deals and hire agents to represent them.
This has to scare the NCAA. They may want to tread more carefully as at least 20 other states are considering similar laws.
Edit: N. Carolina is in line considered next in line followed by Washington and S. Carolina.
@BeddieKU23 I don't see how Bill Self can go on the recruiting trail until the NCAA makes a ruling. Too many uncertainties. Hopefully, this doesn't become a prolonged fight in the courts.

Cheating is a requirement for coaching basketball at Kentucky. Racism wasn't far behind. Ask Adolph Rupp, Joe B Hall, Eddie Sutton, Rick Patino, and now Calipari.
@bskeet From the '60s? Nothing has changed. Some choose to cheat even when it isn't needed. Adolph Rupp was at it in the '20s.
@nuleafjhawk ESPN's talking heads are already predicting Self's time at KU are nearing an end.
@HighEliteMajor Read an interesting article from Sports Illustrated that breaks down the NCAA hatchet job on KU and Coach Self.

Fairly certain that we will not be getting any big-time recruits until after the NCAA comes out with its sections/penalties.
We had already become the third or fourth option after Kentucky, Duke, and North Carolina. It seems most recruits wait on seeing where the other top freshman are going and when these four schools have used up scholarships or needs. And now that we are facing an uncertain future, recruiting will become just that more difficult.
Watching KU's name being drug through the mud has left me feeling like I felt when I found out there was no Santa Claus.
Is Bill Self a cheat? I don't know why you need to bribe players to come to Kansas especially because Coach Self does so well with second-tier players. UConn and Villanova have won championships with these type of players mixed in with a few top players.
I hope they don't take away Silvio's eligibility again.
Just a reminder, the AFC title still goes through Foxboro.

@approxinfinity Take solace, this team is overrated. The flaws will show up by conference season. The lack of elite talent at the 2/3 will be their March downfall. Villanova wiped out the best KU teams of the decade.
And Villanova has fared a lot worse than KU over the Jay Wright era which is fairly close to Self's time at KU.
I wonder if KU fans would have been happy w/3 NITs in Wrights first 3 seasons, or a losing season in 2011/12. not sure how KU's fan base would have acted after Wright suffered 7 second-round upsets (including the years right after winning the NCAA title).

I'm not sold on McCoy just yet myself. He's had some good seasons but hasn't averaged over 4 yards per carry in a couple years. Last year was a career worst for him at 3.2.
That's about all they need from McCoy. He's a legit threat to run and that's all they need to freeze the LBs with play action. Damien Williams should be back in the near future.
Everyone knew replacing Kareem Hunt was not going to be easy. Chiefs HAD 5 RBs when the season began. A very solid run by committee was decimated (current definition).
Don't forget Kerry Meier.
Gassnola is from Springfield Mass. The good Dr. must be rolling in his grave.
Hate to see him leave but maybe he knew after his first practices that he was in the wrong place.
From June 6:
When freshman Issac McBride endured his first workout as a member of the University of Kansas basketball program earlier this week, the newcomer from Little Rock, Ark., immediately recognized he had reached a completely different level of competition.
This was faster. More intense. Higher expectations.
Still, the 6-foot, 180-pound guard didn’t let it all overwhelm him. Although he agreed with fellow freshman Tristan Enaruna that the experience was “eye-opening,”
Damn, hoping he was one of those players willing to stick around 3-4 years. Better to find out now.
@Kcmatt7 That's pretty cynical and likely true.
@BShark The SEC has been brutal to Missouri so anything to pile on top of their athletic dep't is just that much better.
@Marco Losing to Coastal Carolina probably cost us a chance to Bowl this season. Love to be wrong and after beating BC, maybe gives this team enough momentum and confidence to pick off a few BIG12 teams this year.
@Marco I agree but why was she bartending instead of working in her chosen field?
But yes, we seem to want to become a nanny state that allows the gov't to take away some of our rights/freedoms in exchange for free college and free health care (to start with).
As a rule, I don't talk politics at any site not dedicated to politics.
@kjayhawks I would say the 2009 loss to Colorado. It sent KU on a losing 7 game losing streak that we've yet to recover from.
Maybe Les is that coach that turns it around. The win against BC may have been the best game since that loss...
And maybe I'm being overly optimistic but when was the last time a KU football team made anyone overly optimistic.
@nuleafjhawk The 2011/12 Kentucky team started 3 Freshman and two Sophs. The team only had 3 upperclassmen and only one who played significant minutes.
More of an aberration than the norm but how many coaches fell in love w/OADs? Even Coach K got bitten.
@Marco You wouldn't think so unless the NCAA has superseded Congress and its law making role.
In reality, there are several federal laws that have broad jurisdiction/blanket laws that can be used for investgations.
@KirkIsMyHinrich Greene cost us, Andrew White. HCBS and everyone else fell in love w/Greene's long-range and form.
A flea circus at best. Not sure5 why he jumped a good Nebraska team for6 Maryland5 bjut7 he did land a late 2nd round pick.
@BShark I don't know. They have another great recruiting class but only 2 Jrs and no seniors. Dontaie Allen still isn't cleared to play due to injury although ahead of schedule.
@BeddieKU23 Any guesses on how many scholarships will be available in 2020?
Markese Jacobs ended up at De Paul after decommiting to Kansas.
@kjayhawks Agree. they need a set time limit. If it takes longer than 5 min how can it be indisputable?
@KUSTEVE Ohio!!
@HighEliteMajor When it comes down to politics, I avoid the subject, not because I fear to offend, it's simply because it is a waste of time and there are better formats elsewhere.
That being said, you are right on target. Hudy has earned her rep, not because of any bias but maybe in spite of being a woman.
@Crimsonorblue22 I wish. I'm up near NYC. I was in the USCG at the time and worked at a few night clubs in the mid to late 80s. I taught school in Hialeah for a couple of years before getting an opportunity I couldn't refuse.
Should have stayed in Miami.
Andrea Hudy: ‘Kansas means the world to me’ as she decides to move on. I don't blame her for leaving as the new changes take place but going to Texas wasn't a classy move.
@wissox I put Randall on my list but left out Greg Dreiling. Too many players to choose from.
