@rockchalkjayhawk at this point it’s a proven fact Self sucks at roster construction. Did we give up a top 5 basketball program for. 5-7 win football team is the question of the day.

The worst realization for me is we aren’t winning this conference with this team. We aren’t beating Houston, BYU, Baylor, Tech and Arizona. We aren’t beating Duke next week but hope we can sweep KSU and make it outta the first weekend in March for only the second time since 2018.

@approxinfinity I agree if we switched periodically, it could work better. White and Kohl trying to guard a 7 footer didn’t work and seldomly will.

@benshawks08 Yes I’ve hated the switching everything we have done the last 5 years. It’s for teams that can’t play defense IMO. It only worked in 2022 and that team was very average defensively. Not sure how many times their bigs got switched to a guard and went in for a dunk but it seemed like about 50.

@TYOHawk I’m just not sold at this point, but it is very early and I probably shouldn’t jump to conclusions.

Well that wasn’t our best half, not super worried this early in the season. We have to learn to play as a unit defensively. No help and very little rotation my biggest concern is we have zero post presence at all. Flory was bullied all night long man I miss Zuby feel like he is the missing link. We need a big dude down there that has girth. Elmarko maybe worse than his freshman year at this point so that’s disappointing. We lack anyone that can get to the rim consistently outside of Peterson. To me the best player on the floor won in Wilson.

Wisconsins AD announced Fickell will be returning as head football coach in 2026. So that’s prob a bullet dodge, bet he gets a new OC tho lol

Broncos are turning to the chiefs of last season. Winning games they have zero business doing so.

I’m thinking like we go out there pressure them full court and push the ball down the floor. I think their bigs will have a good game on our smaller less experienced Flory.

It will be interesting to see the match up because of the size advantage they have. Normally I’d say bring them out and make them guard the perimeter but I’m not sure we have guys that can do that.

They will beat us again at some point, would rather it be regular season than tournament

Supposedly the chiefs contacted the Jets about Hall but was only willing to give a 4th round pick. The jets wanted a third rounder. I would’ve gave it and the 4th rounder for Max Crosby. I would’ve done both if those deals, the chiefs have failed at the draft IMO the last few years. Believe Hicks, Simmons and Worthy are the only guys playing from the last 2 drafts.

@approxinfinity yes if you can’t take some heat after losing to your rival for the 17th straight time (not all on Lance) then you aren’t in the right profession.

Like I said on another topic with all the big name firing this year so far and we likely ain’t done yet. Some of these schools are going to have to fight to get their 3rd or 4th option at HC. That likely could be Lance in a few places.

I think he would be foolish to leave, if he beats KSU a few weeks ago everyone is super happy with him. Even now 5 wins people ain’t on his case. If he goes to a Florida or Wisconsin any thing less than 10 wins is gonna get you fired after a few seasons.

Saw a lot of positives tonight, I was worried about our lack of 3 point shooting coming into this year and that will be a working progress going forward. Guys are still learning where to be on the defensive rotations which is to be expected. Bench needs to be more aggressive when on the floor. We’ll see what Friday brings

I be willing to bet they roll with him for at least next season. It is a bad cycle to be a mid level program looking for a coach with all the high profile programs that are on the hunt. It honestly worries me a bit about Lance because some of these big money schools will have to go with their 3rd or 4th option.

@DCHawker it will probably be the Flory and DP show early in the season. We have some good athletes and I love seeing us actually pushing the ball. But we have to get these guys to become better basketball players and we have plenty of time to do so.

Offensively we are just goofing around at this point but not surprised this early in the year.

Falling in love with 3s too much

The question becomes with the trade deadline looming what does KC do? I feel like they either need to upgrade the D line or get a running back. The defensive line has turned into the receiving corps from the last two years. We are filled up with guys that got cut elsewhere and couldn’t make rosters with Charles O, Pennel and company. The difference in the game yesterday was the Bills had time to throw the ball and have a great RB. The chiefs have neither of those two things at the moment.

@rockchalkjayhawk Chris Jones needs to be on the trade block at this point. He is one of the highest paid players at his position and has been garbage for 2.5 years. I also have zero idea why CEH is back. He was never better than average. You could make the case him and Sky Moore are the worst draft picks in the last decade for KC. I’m not super worried at this point but the next 2 games are now absolute must wins and they likely can’t lose more than maybe 2 games from here on out if they want to make the playoffs.

@BShark I just don’t understand DKs philosophy, run man coverage but line up with a 10 yard cushion on 3rd and 5. If you want to run man you have to be up at the line pressing and getting hands on the receiver. Thats highschool level stuff IMO.

@drgnslayr if DK isn’t fired, I’ll be very disappointed. That being said Lance won’t fire him mid season. Best case scenario for us is Coach K returns and he runs the offense together with Coach Z. Then we go out and get a defensive coordinator worth a hoot. We should be plenty good on funds at this time, we have seen over $400 million in donations this season. If we have came close to running thru that we are in very big trouble. I’d like to see more invested in the staff for sure. We have found out this year with Tech what big money can get you players wise. They win the LOS on both sides 90% of the time. Thats were big boy football is played.

At least we didn’t hire Matt Rhule, with tonight’s loss he falls to 2-24 vs top 25 teams as a head coach. Still a head scratcher as to why the Panthers hired him after one good year in Waco. Well I was perfect with my first year prediction of 4-8 and it’s looking like Coach Prime maybe wearing out his welcome in Boulder.

@wissox Leipold has had ISU number with a 3-1 record vs them and they look to have completely fallen off of the wagon at this point. That being said they will be fired up after the last 3 years especially if it’s a night game in November in Ames.

@FarmerJayhawk I’m very happy tonight, the game could’ve gone much better for sure but the result regardless of how we got there could not have been better. I don’t believe we had any injuries and we were victorious. It wasn’t that long ago winning 5 games in a season seemed impossible in Lawrence. Heck I thought they may have a parade down Mass street when we almost beat OU a few years ago. That being said am I nervous about missing out on a bowl for the second year in a row? Yes, does it make me more nervous seeing a 2 deep depth chart loaded with Seniors? Yes, do I think DK McDonald is right up there with Vic Shealy as the worst D coordinator in not only Kansas history but CFB? Again yes. Next week is the most important game of the year. Let’s go get them

@rockchalkjayhawk I will say this about Bowen he was okay when we had some horses. I believe he was Co-Defensive coordinator the orange bowl year. When he was coaching guys like Charles Gordon, Talib, Chris Harris and Darrell Stucky. He looked a lot better, my personal opinion was we should’ve hired him instead of Beaty because he had way more experience compared to a position coach.

Man it would be the most amazing thing in the world if we made a bowl and KSU didn’t. I don’t see a scenario where they don’t spank Colorado and Okie lite but a guy can dream. I watched a little bit of their game today and a little of them vs Arizona & Army. Of course they probably played the best game in the last 2 or 3 years against us. Yet they act like it wasn’t their Super Bowl…. My ass
