@jayballer73 Like jballer, I get tired of all the guys (and now ladies) sitting on their asses and claiming to know everything about the game. I hate when the color guy has to critique a play and say, well, if he had just gone to his left hand blah, blah, blah he would have scored. Jerks. I've said this before, I don't listen to the audio and instead play music while I watch the game. That keeps my blood pressure below 150/100. JK. 120/80 here.

If posters enjoy the broad assortment of comments from posters here, next time you're tempted to demean, criticize, denounce or insult another poster for their comment, please don't post it. Everyone's entitled to make their comments, some heartfelt and some written off the cuff. While I won't speculate on JBate's absence, I know everyone on here has just about left the site due to someone's critical, hurtful post. For those posters who like to debate and call others out, that may still be done but requires tact and careful editing after typing your original post. I would like to see buckets expand to include more posters, but the fear of criticism by know-it-all posters keeps more people from joining us.

Has anyone heard an update on Garrett? I really hope he's available to come off the bench Saturday to defend Culver or whomever else may be scoring for Tech.

Looking ahead, first I wonder if KState will keep pace with its schedule: @WV, OSU, @KS, Baylor, @TCU and OU. Saturday's home loss to IState really makes me doubt that KState will win out. Even with Wade at full strength, I see two losses there.

Every team on our remaining schedule will oppose KU like it's the National Championship game. The other teams must be embarrassed and pissed off at KU's 14 title streak. This is their best chance to put an end to it. After our game at Tex Tech, we have KState, @ OSU, @ OU and Baylor. When we get past Tex Tech, I still see stumbling blocks at OU and even OSU given our record there. If we win the title this year, this team will have truly performed a miracle.

Kicking Players Off The Team Game Thread • Feb 17, 2019 12:59 AM

@approxinfinity I agree with the other posters here: it's time for Q to take a back seat and for most of his minutes to be given to another player who's currently helping the team. I'd like to see KJ get more minutes.

Kicking Players Off The Team Game Thread • Feb 17, 2019 12:49 AM

Self challenging Mitch by yelling soft is his way of charging up his junior. Self must see Q as more fragile and knows Q needs more time to figure it out. A coach has to know which players benefit from criticism and which players would shrink from it.

Kicking Players Off The Team Game Thread • Feb 16, 2019 11:35 PM

@Texas-Hawk-10 KJ had a nice game today. I think KJ could be the difference down the stretch. Q's continued lack of success may be impossible for him to overcome.

Kicking Players Off The Team Game Thread • Feb 16, 2019 10:44 PM

I wish Dotson would shoot more. Only 6 shots so far if ESPN's box is right.

Kicking Players Off The Team Game Thread • Feb 16, 2019 10:32 PM

I always liked Frank's tenacious rebounding, but worried that we were losing out on fast break defense. Isn't the PG the first line of defense?

Kicking Players Off The Team Game Thread • Feb 16, 2019 10:25 PM

KJ needs to start ahead of Q and get more minutes

Kicking Players Off The Team Game Thread • Feb 16, 2019 10:19 PM

@DanR Thanks. I was looking at the ESPN box score that must have missed it.

Kicking Players Off The Team Game Thread • Feb 16, 2019 10:14 PM

I guess Chuck's finally out of the rotation. Will he even get mop up minutes?

Kicking Players Off The Team Game Thread • Feb 16, 2019 09:52 PM

I can't remember a WV game where the refs called more fouls on WV.

Rock Chalk Tech Game • Feb 02, 2019 10:45 PM

Only 5 bench points-all in the first half. But, Tech only has 3 bench points.

Rock Chalk Tech Game • Feb 02, 2019 10:43 PM

So, why is Garrett in the doghouse?

Rock Chalk Tech Game • Feb 02, 2019 10:29 PM

One of the few times in recent years when an opponent doesn't shoot well in Allen.

Rock Chalk Tech Game • Feb 02, 2019 09:58 PM

Are we so bad that other teams don't need to foul us anymore? Just like the few fouls called against Texas, T Tech only has 4 fouls at the half. Or, could it be the officiating.

When it rains it pours • Feb 02, 2019 05:55 PM

When I think about the preseason hype and our team at this point, Chuck Moore and Q are big disappointments. But, that's based on what people around the program were saying about these two athletes and the summer tournament. There's just too much hype about new players. I need to pay less attention, meaning none to the preseason hype machines.

Tex Tech is pulling away, so at least the Big 12 will prevail this year.

Vick the ghost. I have to look hard just to see if he's even in the game.

Ochai Needs to Start • Jan 22, 2019 12:42 PM

I agree it's time for Ochai to start in place of Q. I've reached the point where I cringe when I see Grimes defending a player with the ball or when the pass rotates around to him on offense. Q has a half-hearted look to him on the court that closely resembles his play. Come on Coach, best five on the court, right?

Only 3 shots put up be Dedric and 1 by Dotson. Gotta get these guys going.

I still hold my breath when Garrett has the ball on offense. But, he's starting out well.

There's the defense we know and love: KU's 5 guarding their 4.

I wonder whether Dedric's off game has anything to do with his brother's lack of PT?

No 3's for Tex this half, so our defense is better

@KirkIsMyHinrich Correct as always, Garrett kept us in this thing

Pathetic 3 point defense. Tex 7/17 from 3.

16 minutes in and 0 bench points.

I like that Garrett isn't shooting the long ball, but is driving to the rim.

What Chief's Game - Baylor Game Thread • Jan 12, 2019 11:08 PM

Good God, we can't finish games.

What Chief's Game - Baylor Game Thread • Jan 12, 2019 11:04 PM

Ouch 23 O reb for Baylor. But, if you shoot poorly, I guess you're bound to get more O rebs.

What Chief's Game - Baylor Game Thread • Jan 12, 2019 10:04 PM

Dotson had a good first half. I still would like to see him get in position to shoot more often. He's 3/3, so maybe he should shoot at least 5 time in the 2nd half.

ESPN has IState with only 5 rbs. Does that seem right?

Lawson's slow starts are getting to be a bad habit. 3 points in 17 min

KU VS Lon game thread • Jan 03, 2019 03:44 AM

@BShark Is Garrett really the player we want driving to the rim during crunch time?

KU VS Lon game thread • Jan 03, 2019 03:43 AM

Garrett is just embarrassing on offense.

KU VS Lon game thread • Jan 03, 2019 02:28 AM

Ugly game on offense for KU; Grimes is our leading scorer with 7. Dedric 0/5.

Oklahoma Sooners - Tonight - 8pm - ESPN2 • Jan 03, 2019 01:38 AM

I sure would like to see Dotson put up a couple of more shots a game. Drive to the rim, drive and dish or just look for a couple more 3 balls a game. He's shooting 53% on 88 attempts.

Other Games Tonight • Jan 03, 2019 01:26 AM

Foul fest over in Morgantown Wed night. It's on ESPNU-Tex. Tech v. WV. 19 fouls for WV and 15 for Tech with 15 min left in the game. Ugly basketball

Garrett shot that 3 flat footed. Missed of course.

So E Mich is a poor shooting 3 point team, is it our defensive strategy to just leave them wide open from 3? That's what it looks like.

4+ minutes of play and Grimes' name hasn't been called.

Coach Self says Dok will start, but play limited minutes.

Discount Double Transfer Game Thread • Dec 23, 2018 02:52 AM

ASU only score 5 2 pt. FGs and 4 3s. And 9 pts. on FTs. For a 2 pt. shooting team, we must have defended very well.

Discount Double Transfer Game Thread • Dec 23, 2018 02:20 AM

Good start for Q. 3/6 for 6 important points.

@JayHawkFanToo Matt Tait predicted that Garrett will guard Dort, the Devil's leading scorer at 20 points a game. Dort's 6'4", but solidly built. Coach Self said Dort's playing like a lottery pick. If Q starts, that puts Q on 6'7" Lawrence or 6'8" Cheatham. This just isn't the game for KU to continue to play Q in hopes he comes out of his funk.

With Q in the lineup, we seem to have matchup problems, so why not start Mitch instead of Q? KU isn't getting anything from Grimes anyway and Mitch will be super motivated to start so close to home. That should put Vick defending 6'7" Lawrence their second leading scorer, which is better than Q defending him. I say go big in the paint since this is a 2 point shooting team. If ASU changes character and starts hitting 3s, then go back to our 4 guard line up. We've got to get this W.

We're Number One! - In Spite of Us • Dec 19, 2018 02:26 PM

Since we have a lot of new players, I understand it will take some time to get on the same page. Chuck finally showed up and now deserves more court time when offense is needed, which is all the time with this team. Q's dismal play against South Dakota shows he isn't going to help any time soon. In 21 min. Q had 6 pts. on 3/9 shooting, 0/3 from 3 and 3 TO's. I know Chuck struggles on defense, but hitting six 3's should earn him a start at the 2 position against AZ ST. Why start Q when he either doesn't get it or doesn't have the Alpha drive it takes to play for KU?

Coyotes For Dinner - Game Thread • Dec 19, 2018 02:43 AM

I might have thought Q would have been able to get in on the second half spurt.
