I'm sure TV is the biggest reason for the consistent field in the classic every year. MSU needs to get their act together though and make some FF's or they need to get booted for some better teams.

@Crimsonorblue22 Thanks for that. I'm beyond aggravated at MLB. I know a 18 inning game is an exception, but it is starting to make me rethink my fandom. I'm sick and tired, especially tired of games dragging on forever. They pay lip service to it every year like they're going to do something about it. I seriously wish the fans would just stop going to games and watching on TV. MLB is too friggin greedy to understand the damage they're doing to the game. The author of that column Stephen Chapman has been at the trib forever, not even a sports writer, but he gets it way more than Rob Manfred and Bud Selig before him ever did.
@dylans The ref T-d him up for the faux foul and it was his 2nd T of the game, thus the ejection.

I was just responding to your rant at me. 2 other people wrote comments they agreed with me which means I guess I'm not the only one. We all know Joel is a great player. It doesn't give him license to do what he did last night. Your response indicates since he's a great player he can pull childish stunts. I disagree. I hope he learns his lesson.

Embiid's antics starting to wear a little thin. He flopped on Drummond last night which got Drummond ejected. Joel got up clapping, smiling, taunting the Detroit crowd. If I was a Detroit fan and didn't care about KU I'd hate the guy. It was really classless.
No time to read through this right now. Does this mean we might have to vacate wins/final fours from last year?

Maybe it isn't corrupt for Adidas to funnel money to kids families so they go to KU, but it's dirty as heck and it's got us all squirming. There's little integrity there and I hate to say it because I love my Adidas.

Nice to have someone from both my teams recognized. With our thin front lines the last couple of seasons I often caught myself thinking how nice it would have been if Happ had come to KU. I hope his game will translate to the pros, but I have my doubts.
The Happ family if you didn't know is quite athletic. He has a cousin who's been a longtime pitcher in the Majors. His brother was a D3 player in illinois as well.

Will this trial effect our team at all? Can we lose DeSousa or anyone else still? Will Duke lose Zion? I'd assume that'd impact them. After Arizona's very well publicized outing of the deal that got Ayton to their school last year right in the middle of the season without repercussion I'd be a bit miffed if we lost guys. What's the informed take on this question?
KSU lost to Loyola last year in the tourney who has a 95 year old nun playing for them! They're garbage! They're silo tech. They couldn't beat the Haskell JV team, heck they probably couldn't beat the Topeka Y.
Actually @jayballer73 I gots to go with the rest of the brethren here and disagree. KSU is gonna be a nice team this year. They return a lot of experience. I'm looking forward to those games. They should be fun.
Justin Leonard is an up and coming DC at Wisconsin who has a good track record and is rumored to be on the fast track for head coaching.
Besides him, there are certainly assistants out there who are looking for their big break and turning around this moribund program would be a crown in the jewel of any coach.
Of course going the up and coming assistant route means you risk losing them when/if they're successful here. Every coach out there started as an assistant and someone found them. If we do our due diligence we can find this individual. Might as well start now.
@stoptheflop As a Big 10 follower, MSU is more beatable this year than most I think. But they've kind of had our number in recent years.

@BShark HEM didn't say that. HEM has expressed an opinion that obviously some here disagree with and others agree with. I lean towards his position, although it hurts like heck because I've always believed Self is above reproach. Just because HEM says that he values honesty and integrity isn't an admission he's never lied. I value it too, but, I've lied more than my fair share, although I really try not to.

I don't necessarily mind your 2nd and 3rds. But the first kind of rubs me wrong. This whole mess is about money. "For the love of money is the root of all evil" is what the good book says. Should we care if Adidas pays more? Can we compete without a shoe contract? Does the NCAA need to regulate this more to put an end to this sham of a business arrangement that puts every major college team in the crosshairs?
Someone said would they be willing to see us get a wrist slap if it meant Duke gets some punishment? I don't. Why really would we want to see Duke go down? They're one of our rivals. We've actually had the upper hand in that rivalry for the best part of a decade now. I dislike them as much as the next KU fan, but not sure seeing all of our blue blood rivals get nailed is good for us or for the game.

@mayjay Hmmm, that sounds like a fun one to solve. I remember you a couple years back said you used to have questions in law school like a guy is ending it all by jumping off a building. On his way down, someone in an apartment building fires their gun which strikes the guy as he passes his balcony. Coroner discovers a gun shot wound which actually killed the man, not the fall which of course would have killed the man. Can he be charged with murder/manslaughter or whatever?
I sometimes have Walter Mitty moments where I imagine myself in some role. I've thought I'd like to be a cop only for this moment. I question a guy who I suspect having drugs. He says to me "Man I don't got no drugs". I promptly place him under arrest for confessing to having drugs. He protests to which I say, "Too bad you didn't learn about double negatives because you literally just confessed to having drugs." How would that hold up in court?
I wouldn't recommend teaching 8th graders in your condition. I have Coronary Artery Disease (medical term for blocked arteries) and wonder if a bunch of inner city 8th graders will do me in!
Never fight a land war in Asia, Never eat yellow snow, Never cheer for Duke and Kentucky and never get into an argument about law with lawyers and judges when you're neither of those. That's good advice.

It'd be really nice if baseball rules were applied here and kids who don't go the draft/g league route would need to be on campus for a minimum number of years like 3.

I posed a similar question last spring. "Is Bill Self Dirty?" was my post and it drew some mild wrath. I tend to be a trusting person and still have faith as @ReggieKansas and others have that this will turn out all right. But I too have some doubts. There's some dirty stuff out there being thrown around out there with our programs good name attached to it.
Now I'd be chagrined if we bear the brunt of this with so much shade being cast on other big name programs. For the life of me I can't figure out why Arizona was allowed to step foot on the court after their public shaming last season, ironically of course to get a player supposedly coming to KU. Duke and Kentucky's annual stack of blue chips just magically happens every year. While we haven't starved for blue chips, we're definitely a step below those programs. Let's just hope a lot of teams are brought down with us if indeed we are brought down.

Duke hospital is where my grandmother passed in 1982. While there, my grandfather would frequently eat in the cafeteria and got to know one of the workers there named James Worthy! Grandpa was a great embellisher of tales so I'm not 100% positive it's the whole truth but the statute of limitations on truth is about 30 years so it's my story now and I'm sticking to it.
Update 2 Game 1 of ALCS 4 hours long! If Rip Van Winkle was still around, he'd go back into another 100 year snooze! 37 pitchers combined being used in LCS games so far. Brewers manager takes out a starter who'd given up 2 hits, no runs, no walks and only 74 pitches. 2 innings later lead gone. The better arms in his pen used the day before in a bullpen game where the starter is a reliever. This is insanity! Make it stop!
Update: Game 1 4 hours long! Watched blue bloods in the middle and then Seinfeld and still only missed the 7th and 8th innings!

The death of college basketball started with OAD's. This was the original scourge on our game.
I looked at some of these mock draft sites today and they list freshman after freshman. Yet to miss their first crunch time FT, and here they are all touted as 1st rounders. Got to go to the 2nd round to find any seniors. No need to rehash this whole theme but this is the worst development in our game. By far. Not even close.
@BeddieKU23 Ford is about the worst major sportswriter out there. I really wonder how people like him, or announcers like Dakich have jobs like they do. People nationwide have opinions like this about these guys and Yahoo and ESPN have got to know it.
@Kcmatt7 I agree, I wasn't trying to cast shade on Wetzels reporting. He's really good, deserves a better platform than Yahoo.
