@mayjay , Bshark. Thanks.
@jayballer54 Thanks, you former ref. I thought I knew the rules pretty well, but I did not know that one.
3 questions....
Vitale and Co. were blabbering so much I didn't hear what happened twice: 1. When Devonte shot the Tech in the first half...what had happened so that Cuse got the ball?
2. When it appeared we both were in the lane on the Cuse made FT, why did they get the ball?
3. Did anyone else think that Vick turned down too many open shots in the middle of the zone?
Thanks
@JayHawkFanToo You make a valid point about Mitch blocking shots. But I think that Perry was not quicker and a better jumper than a lot of people gave him credit for. The times I saw him play in person....I thought he was pretty darn quick for a guy his size.
When I see Mitch play...Perry does not come to my mind. I think Perry is way quicker than Mitch. Just an overall better athlete. I don't think Mitch will ever have anything close to Perry's offensive game. I realize nobody is saying that Mitch will be as productive as Perry. I just think they are such completely different players that I don't think of one when I see the other. That said, I think Mitch will be a good, solid contributor.
@jaybate-1.0 Whether there is anything there or not, I have to take my hat off to you for noticing.......wish I had DVRd the game, like HEM, so I could take a look at what you observed.
@drgnslayr My first thought was the same.....doesn't bode well for Billy coming back. But heck, even if he does that would put us with 4 bigs........which would be typical for Self, I think.
It seems like our players blow the other team out, but AFH REALLY blows them out. We come out hot, the crowd gets into it, the other team gets rattled.......and the game is OVER quick.
Am I the only one that kind of feels sorry for some of these teams?
I have watched Syracuse a little. I was impressed by their length and athletic ability. Their zone is so tough because Boeheim has used it for so many years and they have long athletic guys. I think it will be a tough game.
@jaybate-1.0 The boot camp issue is a good point and one I hadn't thought of. I am curious...Can you expand on your SVI and Malik distant comment?
Thanks

Ahh, there you are. Really glad to finally see you , I heard others on here talk about you from time to time, this is my 1st chance to get to talk to you. - I think we gonna - - - -have some real fun.
Jayballer....You have a way of saying things that really cracks me up. Keep it up!
I went to bed with 12 mins. or so left and WSU seemed in control. They really impressed me up to that point. I can't believe they lost.
This is going to be fun. Living in the metro area, I follow this team and go to a lot of their games. As mentioned, Nunn is really good. I recall that we recruited him. He scored 43 in an exhibition win vs. Central Michigan. 36, I think, when I was at the Ft. Wayne game. Martez Walker played at Texas and is a high Div. 1 talent. Jalen Hayes should play after coming back from an injury and is very athletic. Their point guards, Daniels and Neely are small and quick.....they look like baby faced 8th graders, though. Of course, are guards are bigger and quick.
This team can be good, but you see that they lost at Toledo and got blown out by Syracuse.....Kampe said that the Syracuse big guy caused them all kinds of problems.
I expect that we should pull away from them, but if they get hot...which they can.......and we don't shoot well, it wouldn't shock me if they hung with us......but I don't expect it. Their 3 high Div. 1 talent guys shouldn't be able to beat our 7.
It's fun to see our Jayhawks play guys that I have seen play in person.
@Statmachine I think the big difference is that this recruiting class can see "immediate and substantial playing time" available with all of the anticipated departures.
I meant to add.....and I have no idea if that is going to happen, but I remain optimistic as it is early in the year.
MY expectations are high. However, to compete for a FF or NC both Doke and Billy have to play up to their high potential. If that happens, there is nobody we can't beat. If they don't come close to their potential we are just a good team. IMO.
@jaybate-1.0 Doesn't it appear that Newman is the guy at the point when DG goes out?
I'm asking because I'm not sure.
I must say that Devon's whole family looks great in Jayhawk attire!
I'm going to say 4. Possible losses: Ken, at Sanford, UT, TCU, Baylor, ISU, TT. Between these 7 and the potential of some unexpected loss, 4 sounds possible to me.
@HighEliteMajor Good point about the Kentucky game.........it will tell us a lot about how confident Self is with Garrett. It's one thing to play him in place of an upperclassmen against Pitt State.. We all know he usually goes with experience vs. the big boys.
Will in interesting for sure.
@KUSTEVE Not answering the door? That just screams..........Party Pooper. :)
@HighEliteMajor I will be very curious to see if we do, indeed, start the rivalry again in the short run. If I had to guess..........I would say Self waits a while longer........but we will see.
@DanR Yes..........passing to the big guy on the break? You would think he would know better.
@DoubleDD I believe we gained something...........playing a competitive game this early is better for our team than not playing the game.
However, I would agree (if that is what you are saying) that Mizzou, as a young team, gained more.
So what if it helped them more than us?
Also, let's not forget the good cause....
Awesome!
@BShark What say you? Us or them?
@HighEliteMajor It would not surprise me to see either Svi or Lightfoot start at the beginning of the season. over Preston.......either because their experience shows or because Preston doesn't "get" the effort / hustle required at this level. No question we need him to "get it"..........I think he will.........maybe sooner but certainly later in the season.

Louisville has to clean house to help come penalty phase time.
This web could expand.
Yes it will expand and I fear this type of behavior might be more widespread than people think. I am worried about CBB.
@BShark So where does that leave us as far as a PG? Haven't all the others been leaning elsewhere?

Things are heating up in another croooootment. The parts they are a movin'.
Throw us a bone..........need the info...:)
@Crimsonorblue22 Oh man....that's a good point. I don't think he will be.
@wissox Why isn't NC in the classic? I don't think Roy wants to play us every third year.
@JayHawkFanToo Ahhh...McCormack's relationship with the OSU assistant is big.
@JayHawkFanToo I am curious why you say that? Duke ..OK...but the others?

I have some concerns about the recent developments too. Things are heating up for sure. Definitely some plusses and minuses.
Losing Zion G to ISU stinks, was hoping he would make it to late night. Great signing by them not letting him off campus without the commit.
Zion W coming to late night is big big big. Would be awesome to land him. He will be a superstar.
David McCormack - i think KU is in a good spot, sounds like a decision might be nearing. This would solitify the post if he picked KU.
The most important piece in my opinion is Dotson. We need guards badly, real badly. He would be a cornerstone on the team. The guy is a stud and reminds me of Frank how he gets into the lane at will. I havent seen anything to suggest he is Florida bound, he hasnt even made it to his visit yet. Not sure where that came from but makes me nervous nonetheless.
Seeing Grimes go to Kentucky when he was supposed to be at KU is concerning for sure. As previously pointed out, the KU visit was unofficial so if there is any saving grace to hold onto that might be it.
I have wondered, in Dotson's comments he said Self told him he is the best PG in the country, what did Grimes think of that? On the same token, Grimes just said Self told him he is their top priority right now. What does Dotson and Zion think about that? I hope everybody is mature enough to understand that there is some salesmanship going on here. I just hope that it doesnt make it seem like Self isnt a straight shooter. Dont want him to lose credibility over these various comments.
We might be hurt by the fact that we have Charlie at PG and perhaps Florida does not have that type of competition at PG? Also, you wonder how the guys that will be back for sure next year feel about Grimes saying that Self led him to believe that he could be "the man". But that is the environment when you go after the top guys in the country.

Wise man, your Dad.
@jayballer54 Thanks for all of your updates. It is funny hearing some of the UK comments. I don't think I could read all of them though...might upset me too much.
@BShark Thanks for the link as well as all of your other insights. It does sound positive for us. McCormack would be a great get for us.
No way that this kid is going to come to KU, sit out a year and then become eligible to play. Maybe he enrolls, waits for the NCAA to rule on the waiver. If he receives the waiver he plays. If he doesn't receive the waive.......he leaves school. I don't think Self would willingly sign up for that. ... but he can't control whether the kid stays or not.
Ideally, the NCAA would rule quickly, for the benefit of all involved....either way. But then, ideally, Jennifer Anniston knocks on my front door tonight.......
Would sure like to know what happened.........maybe some of you guys will hear.
Question: Do any of you that are local attend any of the AAU tournaments in Lawrence or KC to see the recruits up close? Can anyone attend? Hard to get a seat? Just curious.
@jaybate-1.0 As you say..."howling"
Wouldn't you think that the latest news out of Louisville would hurt their chances with all of the recruits considering them?
Wow. A shining example of a two people that give back. Awesome.
I think he goes.
@jaybate-1.0 If that were the case........why would we not sign on with Nike.........even if Adidas pays more? Wouldn't the benefit of getting better players offset the decreased revenue from the contract?
@jaybate-1.0 I don't recall the details, but I don't think HSBC was intentionally involved in shady stuff. I believe they got in big trouble for a lack of internal controls which allowed illegal funds to move through the bank. Willful blindness can be deemed illegal. Of course, the board is ultimately responsible for what goes on in an organization. I think the bank was guilty of poor internal controls.
@Bosthawk Me neither. But that's apparently what is in the wind...
This adds credence to the Coleby transferring information. Either there is room for Tilmon somehow.....Coleby transfers and SVi doesn't come back.........or Whitman ends up on academic scholarship............or Self knows Tilmon isn't coming.
If he doesn't take a spot that a Tilmon could get........only upside to getting this guy.
@Blown I had seen the same analysis.........which matched my thoughts as I watched the game. The math made sense. But, as you point out, if you change one thing, you don't know what would have happened in another scenario. My take.........the missed FTs did not necessarily cause the loss.
