If Zeus Jackson, who - Greek mythology not withstanding - is related to Adonis Jordan joins KU, along with Poseidon Williams then we soon - class of 2023 - will be in great shape.
If Zeus Jackson, who is - greek mythology not withstanding - related to Adonis Jordan joins KU along with Poseidon Thomas then it is all good!
I have heard that Zeus Jackson is seriously considering KU.
@chriz I have heard that Zeus Jackson is seriously considering KU.
@Gorilla72 damn. I think we all need pretty good pills anymore, don't we?
@jayballer7 What kind of pills do you take? Are they good?
At this point, I'm going to let all of you do the research and keep me informed about which recruits may or may not come to KU - these shoe company connections and how spoiled these kids are who may or may not make it to - yes, I'm calling it - a dying NBA (which I quit watching a long time ago) is really urking me. Hell, even prognosticators like Wilbon no longer hide the fact that defense is not even played and that the fix is often in. Coach Self will sign a few more recruits and that coupled with what we have coming back will make a more than solid team next season. After that all of the FBI/NCAA crap will be behind us, and even if there is punishment - which I do not see us getting - we will be able to recruit accordingly. All will be fine in Jayhawk basketball land. Why? We are KU, that's why.
@BShark Man,,, I sure hope so.
Dok is coming back!
@jayballer73 I think you are correct.
@jayballer73 Good break down.. I tend to agree with you.
@BShark what if he gets two spring-loaded bionic wrists that he is able to adjust when going to the foul line?
@Kcmatt7 wow, great post... Where to start? I one-hundred percent agree about the lack of local talent and without a doubt that definitely makes it harder to recruit. That being said, though, while we need to cast a wide net we still need to concentrate on some of the local talent in, specifically, Wichita and KC - Baker, Shamet, Heild, Braun and Agbaji. These guys tend to stick around and provide excellent depth and a solid foundation that we can build and count on. Recruit every year a highly ranked top 25 or 50 player or two or three, as needed? Sure, but not all in on only top 10 players at the expense of solid, seasoned depth that, if you think about it, is what made KU what it was and is. We've gotten away from that for the past several years and it is now biting us bigtime. Top 100 players (or in Agbaji, Braun and - I know, he's from Arkansas, but still... - McBride's case even lower) should not be ignored - not building quality depth is why we now find ourselves taking redshirts and transfers. Recruiting nationwide is fine, but I would take a pass on the for sure OADs... They do not win National Championships, and leave your team bereft of seasoned talent, chemistry and depth. Rock Chalk Jayhawk!
@BShark I agree about the need for some new blood, new assistant. Haven't really had a great big guy assisant since Manning left, have we? Howard seems to be our top recruiter, who else is untouchable?
Wow, what a ride, huh? If we get Precious and Enaruna and Hampton!, having already Braun and McBride, damn!
Let's keep track, shall we? JRE, gone elsewhere. Williamson, gone elsewhere. Hall, ditto. Hurt, yep, gone elsewhere. Three out of those 4 along with Braun and McBride sure would've been nice. We dropped the ball bigtime in recruiting this year. Hell, Hall and Williamson were all but begging to be Jayhawks, and I think JRE bolted due to our infatuation with Hurt. Let's hope that coach Self has learned something (regardless of whether we land Precious and Hampton at this point) from all of this. I sure as the hell have.
Give me 6 players - combination of top 100, jucos and grad tranfers - and I'd be happy. Hell, such a scenario would help us in the long run, would be (i.e., stayers rather than goers) a foundation class.
To be honest, I'm just hoping for a couple more frosh (even 4 star) signees, a grad transfer and two jucos at this point and I'd be happy. SDS needs to leave, his appeal will be denied, the NCAA is going to make an example of him. But if anything were going to happen to Self, the program and the university he would have been ruled permanently ineligible. Did it hurt us (pun intended)? Yes. But we'll be back, sooner - next year - rather than later.
@jayballer73 what do you think, break out the Asses From Young (but of age) Lasses?
I believe it is long overdue that the university give back to we the fans. What better way to fill the seats and garner enthusiasm than the Asses From Young (but of age) Lasses raffle campaign? It is a new day and new time.... Athletes are getting paid to go to school. Now we - the fans who pay the university - should demand to be rewarded ourselves. Let's rally together, and support the Asses From Young (but of age) Lasses campaign!
@FarmerJayhawk that would be great, indeed. If we could land him and Hampton as well as Enaruna, alongside Braun and McBride and perhaps a grad transfer/juco recruit that would a bonanza recruiting haul!
They might need to come up with a more bold strategy to get us diehard Jayhawk fans into the seats. Maybe a fan-friendly raffle campaign such as Asses From Lasses, or something to that effect. Just an idea....
Man, let's face it, we are all die hards - want the best for our Jayhawks. When did we have the best time as fans? Old timers, '88? New and old, 2008? What do those teams have in common? Danny Manning - one of the all-time greats, no doubt! - and a bunch of scrappers.... A loaded 08 team, true, but out of everyone on that team who was a OAD? No one, that team was built, ditto for the other damn near championship teams. We need to recruit solid, tough players who - like Frank and Devonte - can D up and grow as players, bleeding Jayhawk. A bigtime player here and there who we can cultivate and recruit sure, but all in on - even after the OAD rule is gone - players only looking for a quick exit, no thank you. Thoughts anyone?
@jayballer73 so, are you calling it? That we are using the asses of lasses as a recruiting tool?
@jayballer73 That totally sucks, being low on liquor
@approxinfinity I second that notion. Thank you.
@BShark Interesting.... I think that we'll have a defection or two this year, which is fine (add a couple grad transfers). Get ready for - it is seeming more and more likely - KU to bring (my band name for them) Big Dave and The Precious Hurt next season..... Stay tuned....
I think that we're going to be putting on The Precious Hurt Show next season in basketball..... Stay tuned.
@jayballer73 so, you're calling it, huh? That KU is going bowling in football next year and, perhaps (by putting on The Precious Hurt Show), a national championship in basketball.
@approxinfinity I thought the same thing - no joke! - not too long ago.... The guy is used to having his hands on the ball. He just looks out of sorts playing off it. But is he quick enough?
Grimes is a no-show, and I'm (yeah, I've seen more than enough) going to call it -- he is not going to pan out as was expected, and will be, more or less, a bust (both KU and NBA wise). It is - unless Grimes totally balls in the UK matchup - all but official that Agbaji is going to start after this Saturday. And I agree with the above post, Grimes seems to be slow and unathletic. You know who he reminds me of? ..... Yeah, I'm a bigtime Rock Chalker...... Sean Pierson without an outside shot.
I could not agree more. I think that we'll, yet again, win the Big 12 (but probably not the conference tournament), and will have a chance to advance to the Sweet 16 in the dance. I think that most of these guys are going to come back next year, and they coupled with Braun and McBride (and, who knows?, fingers crossed maybe Hurt) would give us a pretty damn good team. Let's watch some bball!
Who was that guy on that one site who boldly (and at the time preposterously) predicted - after the Miles hire - that KU would win a national championship in football within five years? I very seriously doubt that. What say you, folks?
May I opine (and I'll admit, I am a glass 3/4 full kinda guy)? How 'bout a recruiting class that features Zeke, Chandler Lawson, Issac McBride and Christian Braun, along with another top 50 big man? I'll take that, along with Dedric and KJ both returning to play in Allen with their brother for one year..... I don't think that we'll get any probation, the story is TOO BIG, concerns all of college basketball, and even football.
So, who do you think the next coach might be? Look, it's obvious Beaty is going to get the ax, he doesn't win, and - with his job security being a constant public issue - can no longer recruit. So, who should it be? Please (though it might not be too bad of an idea) don't say Mangino, that is a non-starter.... I got one for you, Stoops, the fired Oklahoma DC (think about it for a minute...).
I agree about Nnaji soon being a Jayhawk, and JRE, as well. Hopefully Stanley or Chandler will sign early, too. A class that features McBride, Braun, Nnaji, JRE, and either Stanley or Chandler I'll take in a heartbeat ..... If Hurt waits too long we may have to draw our attentions elsewhere. What I like about the above group - I don't think that any of them are necessarily OADs.
@approxinfinity I didn't say that he was just a horny guy trying to get laid, come on.... Do you really believe that he ran a gang rape scheme? If so, that is a bigtime opinion, and I do mean opinion.
And I disagree about Hurt being a no-brainer one and done
He hasn't taken any OVs, right?
@approxinfinity being perfect is an impossible task. Having a few beers in high school and trying to get laid, does that make you unfit? He did not rape her, she said as much.....
@DoubleDD no, the problem with the entire thing is that they delved into whether he drank beer while in high school - come on, get real...! Glad that I haven't been nominated to the Supreme Court (the witness list would be extremely long, and America would grow bored and tired, having learned too much about themselves).
I hear you, and I somewhat agree with you on the timeline.... I believe that Zeke and JRE will soon commit and sign, as well as Stanley. We'll leave a spot open for Hurt if he decides to commit late, but I don't think that he will commit late, think he'll commit early. I also think that all three of the big guys will be around for atleast 2 years, Nnaji probably three.
@KUSTEVE it was probaby a whacked out former employee, raising hell in the dumbest of ways.
To be honest, I don't care who Kentucky has playing,,,,, because I think they overplayed their hand, and are going to whiff on the big guys. They'll get Carey, and that's about it.
I think that we'll have to fill six scolarships, and will nab Nnaji a 5, JRE a 4, Hurt a 3 and some 4, and - call me high - Stanley, a 2 who can play some 3. McBride and Braun waiting their turn, as they undoubtedly already know. Thought, anyone (and don't call me high Lol)?
