Whew. Full dramatics going on in this thread. Wow.

I would rather lose with high character players, than sell out morality for wins. But that really isn’t the only option. Good people play ball - Jalen, Ochai - both great human beings and proven winners. Just because he’s a Jayhawk now doesn’t change my view about Morris, but it does about the program.
How has your view of the program changed?

@Jethro I’m beginning to get more curious what the actual annual NIL budget for KU is. As long as it’s unregulated go hog wild as one of the big boys. I do wish there would be some sort of “salary cap” or some better solution to promote equity.
We need a T Boone Pickens clone for KU. I don't want equity unless we're losing.
We have some billionaires. Yes plural. One was up in Lawrence the other day right before the Hunter visit. I won't name him out of respect that I was asked not too. But he was a big one to get on board...

@Woodrow hot goss says 3 starter-level guys. The only one that Slater has name-dropped officially was Harrison Ingram. And he'd be the lowest scorer of the 3 guys that are linked to KU right now... As long as this all holds true we'll be pretty happy.
Now this is what I’m talking about.
Hopefully we are getting more than two that can play.
@BShark it’s bizarre how this fan base always try to talk themselves into a player staying or hood out hope they will stay when there is no logical reason for that player to stay. I’d love for Gradey to come back, but I also know it makes zero sense for him.
@AsadZ I think a lot of the guys we want / are targeting are not in the portal yet. There are some decent guys in there , but there will be a huge influx of talent over the next 2-3 weeks.
Let’s have a day! Rock Chalk!!
@BShark said in 2023 Transfer Portal:
@dylans Feel good about him but not him in this case. Think if we do get both, those are our starters at the 3/4 next year. Good kids, smart, tough.
Who are you talking about… Ingram and?
@BShark said in How we feelin’ about March:
I need to see the bracket first. There are S16 opponents based on current bracketology that we would not be favored against if the bracket went chalk.
As always it's impossible to predcit without seeing the bracket. Teams like St. Marys, SDSU, and UCONN are going to be grossly under seeded. I do think the expectations for this team should be the E8 though. Meaning that is the floor. They can obviously make the F4 and beyond as well.
Need Jalen to find his outside shot again, GD to start hitting at a better clip, and Juan has to continue to produce all over the court.
Self said today he is expecting Juan back next year.
There are zero reasons for Gradey to come back next year.
It will be interesting to see what happens after today. It is clear Bama was trying to sweep this under the rug, but I am not sure why they thought this information about Miller was never going to come out. Maybe they were hoping it would come out after the tournament and he was off to the NBA. I don't think there is any chance that Oats is fired. They literally signed him to an extension as this was going on. One of his players was charged with capital murder and he got a raise and extension!
I would guess now that this is out that Miller gets 2-3 games and a slap on the wrist.
@Kcmatt7 said in Dajuan Harris Cooks Lizards In Fort Worth Game Thread:
I wonder if we do the same thing we did the 2nd half defensively against Baylor.
Put Juan on Miles and Kev on Miller. No switching from those two and deny them the ball. Make someone else beat you.
CJ Moore's article in The Athletic quoted Self as saying they didn't start the game they way they played in the second half, because he didn't think they would have the energy to do it thee whole game. Thought that was interesting.
@Jethro said in 2022-23 stats-PER, Kenpom etc:
With our victory last night, our record against Quad 1 opponents goes to 12-5, which is the most wins against Quad 1 opponents in the nation. 2nd place ( Texas) has 10. Quad 1 & 2 record: 15-5. We are the only Div 1 team that has zero losses to unranked teams.
Here’s to hoping Okie St doesn’t get ranked on Monday!
Graham traded to San Antonio
They are 11th on KenPom as of this morning. I am 99% sure that is what they were before the game as well. So no movement.
Didn't read this whole game thread, but do we still have people questioning Juan??
Sounds like Bobby is not going to play tonight so we are down to 7 players. Not great.
@drgnslayr said in Sunflower Showdown Redeux:
I don't see Dick being anywhere near a 1st round pick in this draft. He shows potential... but he's not physically at all near playing in the NBA. He's struggling still in college.
It would be a huge mistake... like it was if JWil left last year, or Och the year before.
It is a huge mistake to get drafted in the lottery??

@FarmerJayhawk Do we hear about dudes getting buckets in Iraq? Keith Langford is the only dude I ever heard about really doing well over seas.
Overseas stats are kind of hard to find, but a lot of former Jayhawks have fared well overseas. Perry is playing over there now. Pretty sure Selden is making 3M a year playing over there, Jamari played for years as well.
Wilson has to get some help. We need Gradey to get his stroke back and knock down open shots. Also, need Juan and Kevin to do something. I am assuming Kevin will guard Allen and that will be a hue match up. With the short bench not getting into foul trouble is going to play a huge role as well.
@Jethro said in KU-UK Game Chat:
Tagline on CBS:
"Oklahoma, West Virginia and Kansas had big upset wins vs. SEC teams on Saturday in the last SEC/Big 12 Challenge"
So...the 9th ranked team in the country beating an unranked 'Tucky team is a "big upset win". Whatever.
KU was an underdog so it was an upset
Baylor takes and makes a lot of threes. So it is going to come down to the perimeter defense. Baylor is really bad on D so we should look better on offense, but if they are raining in threes it will be a long night. Baylor is really small on the perimeter so hopefully our size with Juan, Dick, Kevin, and Jalen can bother their shooters.
This seems like a classic KU is down and out bounce back game for KU, but I can't say I am super confident about tonight.
@HawkChamp Just do not see it happening this year. Quite frankly I doubt he really practices it that much, because that is not really what this team needs from him. He is doing exactly what the team needs and it thriving right now in his role. No need to try and change that right now.
@BeddieKU23 Avoiding foul trouble is going to be huge for Juan. He has been known to pick up some silly fouls away from the basket. He is going to need to play 35 minutes or more tonight.
@HawkChamp I would not count on that happening this year. Maybe next year after a off season of working on it, but he is not just going to magically start knocking down jumpshots.

Imagine a game with Purdue?
If we run, it’s a double digit win. Purdue is slow and Edey would have no chance of covering KJ, especially if KJ starts hitting 17 footers.
How many 17 footers has KJ made this year???
People that complain about class rankings when it comes to football are people that don't fully understand football recruiting. It is that simple. The transfer portal has changed that more than ever.
K-St is looking really salty right now. I bet that game is a 1 point line either way. Will not be surprised if by tip off K-St is favored by a couple points. I watched some of their game against Oklahoma St and Nowell was pulling up from 30 feet and making threes. That is pretty tough to defend against. That game will come down to how well Harris can defend Nowell and how well Kevin can defend Johnson. If you can contain those two guys then KU will win. I think it is going to be one hell of a game.
OU does an outstanding job of defending the 3 point line so it will be interesting to see where KU can score if they are not able to make some 3's. OU does turn it over quite a bit so hopefully we can force some and get some easy buckets in transition. Sherfield is by far the best player OU has so shutting him down is going to be paramount in winning the game. The current Vegas spread is 10.5. Would be nice for another double digit stress free game, but that isn't something you can count on in the Big 12.
The SEC is just on a different level. It has been and will continue to be so. It is what it is.

@Woodrow I’m not seeing it Woodrow - what are you seeing (honest question not being a turd)
Did I miss an assist or jumper/floater from him?
4 assists so far
Bobby is playing really well right now.
Gotta make shots
Tech has won 29 straight at home, and the spread is 1.5. I will actually be a little surprised if KU leaves Lubbock with a win. They are going to have to shoot the 3 ball really well in order to do that. The atmosphere will be really good.
Now his fiancé is refuting the strangling and everything. Not really surprised by that. At this point I think he keeps his job at Texas.
Wake had a chance to put this game away when they recovered a muffed punt up 14-3. Proceeded to throw a INT and now it’s a tossup.
Kleinman and KSU actually have the #289th ranked class according to rivals. He is a hell of a coach and that is pretty salty.
https://n.rivals.com/team_rankings/2023/all-teams/football ↗
I have read some fans who are caught up in the class ranking and still kind of down on recruiting, but it is clear we are recruiting better players. We also do not have as big of a class as everyone most other teams so that is going to drag our ranking down as well.
I will say this was a hell of a cycle for Big 12 in general. Tech with a top 25 class, and Iowa St and K-State both have top 30 or 40 classes depending on where you look. Pretty strong for the conference.

Any idea how many spots we have left? I know it will fluctuate after the bowl with some possible deflections, but was just curious how many spots we have open right now.

Both have NIL deals worth as much or more then they would have made this yr not in college. Neither received a first round grade from what I recall. Tshiebwe may make over $1 million this yr alone. Tough call but seems like Great money to refine your skills another yr
I believe Oscar is making over 2M this year. He and Bacot are both making more in college this year then they would have being a second round pick.
Line opens Duke -1.5
Tuesday is going to tell us a lot about where Udeh is. Duke has some serious size, so we will need a big game out of him.
Holy shit this is powerful. So glad he is still here today to tell his story. No matter how good he is at football if he continues to tell this story it will impact more people then he will ever know.
