@Kcmatt7 I did say Human. As all the rest. Which would be including me. I'm not on any high horse. Not even close. Doesn't mean I believe there shouldn't be consequences or they should change rules or laws based on my actions nor anyone else's.

Nobody was using these excuses prior to the truth coming out. But now suddenly they are acceptable. That is the point. And you know what. Kudos to you if you've never ever muttered a negative word about another coach or program that got caught or had allegations. I can't say that. I have said plenty about other coaches I thought were slimy based on similar things to that of what is now coming out about our program. And I could choose to make excuses. Or I can choose to say ya know what. It's just as slimy here as it is anywhere else.

I absolutely have done many of the things you listed. Doesn't mean I was right.

In fact. I have gone over the speed limit. In a group with probably 10 other vehicles doing the same thing. And been pulled over and ticketed while others weren't. I paid the ticket. And moved on. Knowing I had done wrong. I guess instead I should have went to the judge with "hey others were doing it and they didn't get a ticket" I'm sure then the state of Oklahoma wouldn't have $188 of my money huh. And then they would change the law to say well... It shouldn't be illegal in this guy's opinion so it's not anymore. Speed away...

@Woodrow you're right. I apologise. I have no idea what you would say if it was another school or coach. Perhaps you would be in the minority of ppl nationwide that would say the same regardless of whether or not it affected your school/team.

Again, whether or not players should be paid, whether or not it goes on other places, whether or not the NCAA is w multibillion dollar evil organization that exploits student athletes, is not what's in question here.

If it's a rule and you break it. There are consequences. If you know it's wrong. And you do it anyway. And then make excuses for it, that's a lack of integrity. Which is at the heart of my post. Nobody gets to choose whether they follow the rules based on their opinion of said rules.

Follow the rules. Or if you don't. Which everyone at some point in their life has broken some law or rule, don't make excuses about it. Don't try to make it to be okay. Just own up and accept it. Congratulations. You're human. As all the rest.

Maybe there won't be consequences and maybe there will... Banners coming down, wins being vacated, suspensions, post season bans.. could happen and has happened in the past.

We now live in a world where it wouldn't surprise me at all if there are no consequences. And quite frankly that's part of the problem. Not part of the solution.

@Woodrow it is against the rules. Is it not? Nobody has to go to jail for it in order for it to be against the rules. Whether you believe it's right or wrong.

Rule states no. Therefore consequences do happen. It doesn't have to be jail... Your kid probably isn't going to jail for cheating on a algebra final either. But you think there aren't consequences? The point is that you don't get to use the defense in either case that "everyone's doing it" "the NCAA or society created it" , or "it should be legal or not against the rules anyway"

You wouldn't use that defense for Coach K or Calipari, or Roy, or Sean Miller or anyone else.

@BShark no. That's incorrect. I'm sorry. But it is. This is a totally separate issue. Youre talking about your opinion of how things should be. Not how they are. As of right now. It's breaking the rules. Not gray. It's black and white.

So basically you're saying that if your kid gets busted for smoking pot in Kansas, it's okay because it should be legal.... And probably will be someday. That's gonna be your defense? Think that works out well in court? Doubt it.

We all have to live by the laws and rules as they are today. Not how they should be in some people's minds.

It is disappointing... Dammit. It just is. Even though I could probably say I've had the assumption everything isn't above board for years... There have been some things that one could argue made it look as though "above board" was at least the goal of the staff. The sitting of Cliff, Selby, DJ, Preston. Idk...

Where do we go from here? Who knows. I don't think the university is firing a hall of fame coach no matter the outcome here minus an indictment perhaps. Can't say I'd even want that outcome. Although, I must say if we have been buying recruits all along we really haven't been getting out money's worth with 1 NC to show for that... Hope that's not the case. But is that just as naive as believing it doesn't in fact go on everywhere? Including here apparently...

Integrity is not a tricky business. People just like to make it gray to justify their own actions. It's that simple. For instance, and I've said this for years, nobody comes home after the game and talks about how the refs jobbed the other team. Right? No. Fans just come home happy they won and don't care why. Now if you're team gets jobbed by the refs and they lose then it's all that's talked about by fans. In the same manner that if this was UK/calipari most KU fans as well as the rest of the country would be allover it like white on rice. That slimeball!!! I knew it all along!!! Yada yada and yada....

But now we have fans that want to change that tone to..... "Well, there's really not a dollar amount discussed". "There's really not a smoking gun". "Our coaches really didn't know". "As long as we don't get caught". "As long as we don't get in trouble". "Everyone's doing it, it's been going on for decades".

Ask yourself these questions. Is it okay with you if Duke and UK cheat and go the FF and win NC's because of it?

Is it okay with you if your kid illegally(yes for now illegally) smokes pot cause other kids are doing it?

Is it okay with you if your kid cheats on academics but maintains a 4.0 gpa and is successful? Maybe cause other kids get away with it?

Turning a blind eye, pretending it doesn't happen, or doesn't matter... SMH....

You really wanna teach your kids that? You really want the university and the program we all love to teach the students and student athletes that? That it's not only okay but it's supported by many, to start out their adult life learning how to bend and break the rules?

That's the message you want to send?

Integrity is not a tricky business. Not a slippery slope. Not a gray area.

@HighEliteMajor applaud you for bringing up the tough topic. The one none of us really wanted to face. Well done sir.

History would suggest that we will not make the FF next season. Although more talented, much less experienced. Which has not been Self's best seasons at Kansas overall. That said, Self has thrown some flys in the ole ointment as of late. So I wouldn't count us out

I admit I did hope for more with a week to prepare. I thought that would be an advantage for CS. We just weren't able to to take advantage I guess. Personally I believe this team achieved well beyond their depth and overall talent level. So I'm not disappointed in the players or coaching staff for this particular season as a whole.

Absolutely. Me as well. That's the misery of losing anyways really isn't it? Besides the fact we gotta watch the team we love lose... When they win it extends the season. We all want 2 more days of this season. I'm always sad when it's over. Just much less sad when it ends favorably.

@kjayhawks make zero mistake about it. Bill has his faults and has had his failings. It's just simply that this season as a whole was not one of those. But.... It's also anyones choice to think whatever the hell they want about him honestly. And to say it

I actually think Bill will win a second and third title if not more in the next 7-10 years of he will stay that long

Gladly have Doke back next year. He wont have to do as much as we needed from him this year with the other bigs we'll have. And I just can't see that he's ready for the association

That sucks. I'd actually love it if Newman returned. He could absolutely lead this team next year. Newman>any incoming freshman. No question

Great season guys. Thanks for the ride. Which lasted longer than I anticipated. Stand tall and walk proud. It took a helluva lot of fight to get this far.

Not to mention the fact that I'm so damn proud of this team. I can't even describe it really. Really didn't know if the 2012 lil Jayhawk engine that could would ever be topped in my lifetime. But I have this team right there. Maybe a slight edge. We'll see how it goes in San Antonio

I should expand on this a lil I guess. It's a matter of talent vs achievement. I believe the 2012 team to have been more talented than this roster currently overall. Yes minus Teahan. Although he played his part well.

We talk about ceilings all the time and I have this team on the roof right now and you know what. They may damn well be just about to take flight and say to hell with the ceiling and roof and all the rest of it. And if not. It doesn't matter. Expectations met, surpassed, and then some icing on top to boot.

Self is absolutely correct. All they can do now is add to it

I did promise after 2012 I wasnt missing the next time they make the title. I still blame @kjayhawks that we lost that one cause we didn't go... And my bag was packed and in the truck..

So I plan to keep my word. If they make the NC game. I can't break that

We are absolutely seeing the transformation of Self right before our eyes. He didn't need a complete rebuild. Just a tweak. He has grown in his ability to not only adapt but go full circle on some philosophies to what the team needs.

Doesn't make him soft. To bend...

It makes him a better coach. Oh yes. You're still gonna do things by and large Self's way. As it should be. But he has now shown willingness to adapt his way enough to give you a chance to be as successful as possible within his way. His system.

The best is yet to come for this program

@Crimsonorblue22 he did get in the refs ear a couple times. But for the most part he was just a smooth operator.... Like he knew in his heart he had outschemed coach K and was gonna be happy with any ending that came about. Execution by the team was huge. Scheme all ya want of ya can't get guys to believe and execute it will never work. Incredible job by the Coach and team. What an unbelievably fun game to be at.

I was there up close and personal. I can tell you with 100% certainty that the officiating was very much pro Duke. The whole building knew it. That 5th foul on Carter was probably the wrong call. But it was definitely needed after the multiple wrong and noncalls all game. Its just a great example of a team not letting the calls change their demeanor or how hard the fought. There's always more you could have done to win the game even in those situations and these Jayhawks did that very thing. It was beautiful. We win that game by 15 if called evenly.

Whatever happens from here. This is absolutely Bill Self's best coaching job. And is Malik Newman Mr March or what?

@BShark I don't consider it lucky it all. It was masterful. I'll give that it took some luck vs Purdue 2nd round. Cause we just didn't play that day. I was there. And it wasn't fun till the last minute. After that. Coach had an amazing game plan. And the team 100% believed in it and themselves. His changing to box and 1/tri and 2 defenses at just the right time coupled with the ever building confidence of a group of kids that just plain scrapped their way to and NCAA title game...

It was a thing of beauty and why I say it's Coach Self's best job overall. I felt that team had zero business going that far from a talent standpoint. They gave a damn good fight to maybe one of the most talented college teams ever to play the game and had a legitimate shot of winning in the end. That game needed to be two minutes longer...

I feel much the same about this team and I hope Coach Self and Jayhawks make that incredible run 2nd in my list by seasons end. If not. For all of their limitations I am not disappointed in what this team has accomplished. Everything is icing to me now

I still believe the 12' title run ranks as his best coaching. This year is close right now though

Hopefully that's the nail in the coffin when it comes to the number 1 seed bullshit

Let's say the whole thing went down as reported. And then suddenly Nike steps in behind the scenes and basically tells the NCAA that this needs to just go away. Nike is big.... And tell me they cant get their way on things. What if they said "fix this or we pull out of college sports completely". Miller vindicated, Ayton, Trier, Arizona vindicated. If there isn't a defamation suit before this is all done I think it would further support this idea or a similar happening behind the scenes.

Hopes? NC. No question. Why not hope it?

Expectations? Zero. They have fulfilled them and maybe plus some.

There's no way OU should be in right now. I think a couple missed Doke fts may be the only reason they are still in right now.. minus Trae. Even with that if they lose one more game they should be out no questions asked in my opinion

Not sure what to make of the Miles Bridges situation. How does an internal review and then eligibility clearance by the NCAA happen overnight on a weekend when the office is closed. Idk why but that just smells terrible.

I do now believe this team has a possibility of winning the NC this year. Mostly because it's about as crazy a year all around as I can recall. I won't say a probability... But yes a possibility. Anything can happen right now. But we're better than we were 3 weeks ago and chance favors the prepared.
