If Stumpy was coaching a NY/NJ school he'd look perfect for an Oliver Stone movie. He just appears out of place in AZ. Marshall is not attractive, doesn't say complimentary things and we are all superficial to some extent at least subconsciously.
Disliking or not wanting a coach based on personality issues not coaching issues is very human. Weber seems like he's good at coaching up the talent he has, but he can't recruit because of his personality.
Bill Self puts off a very likeable vibe. He just seems like someone you can form an instant bond with. Calipari for all our disdain is very likeable as well. I have no idea how Coach K gets a recruit, that smug, arrogant man. But man can he coach and he sure as heck can recruit.
Weis got paid and it didn't make him a good coach, Gill got paid and it didn't make him a good coach. Beaty is earning his raises. I assume OSU was doing something similar, but were too slow with the raise. The problem as I see it is Underwood clearly didn't want to be in Stillwater since he left the day after they lost. He must've had a deal in the works already to be gone that fast.

@jayballer54 Out of the almost 14 million brackets on espn only a few hundred are still perfect. Looking at those brackets the popular picks to win it all are Gonzaga, Kentucky, Arizona, and Kansas. Duke, UCLA and even WVU got a little love, but those four are the favorites by the people with current perfect brackets.

Well if you want to get pissed off again, Stu Gotz is going to go on blast at Bill Self/Josh Jackson on ESPN radio on Monday morning. I normally enjoy his ill informed rants, but this one is going to piss me off. He's just a hot take gomer, but I can tell you already if I hear it I'll be pissed. And that's too bad as he's normally very entertaining.

The only way the Big12 is successful in the ncaa tournament, in my eyes, is if KU makes the final four. The rest is just peripheral noise.

I like the prop bet that every 1 seed will win by double digits in the first round. I'd take that bet, but even that isn't a sure thing.
The tournament is a crap shoot. I look at the 1, 2, and 3 and have a hard time seeing a first round upset. History says that 2 three seeds and 1 or 2 two seeds should be upset by the second round, several of them in the first round.
I haven't watched enough basketball to see where the upset lies, but there will be several. With any luck they will open up KU's path to the championship. An easy path would be welcome, but the guys still have to show up as the past has taught us.
I'm willing to bet the students didn't go to UC Davis to watch basketball. @wrwlumpy You did too good of a job here. I'm questioning whether or not I should take some classes! We've got some grapes, my wine making skills could use improvement, and I must say the scenery looks awesome there! But I've visited California in the LA area and there is no way in Mizzou that I would ever volunteer to live there. I like Kansans, Californians are paranoid flakes; any current company aside as you obviously have good taste.
I thought the rule was that if you hired the recruits parent it had to be a full assistant job now. Not just player development or some junk position. Ronnie Chalmers is a prime example of why this rule is in place. I think it's good for everyone. Who needs a helicopter dad actually in the program?!? It means you'd have to give up an assistants spot and on KU's coaching staff, that's too valuable to forfeit.

Nice post HEM. One typo though, the sprint center is East of Allen Fieldhouse. Allen Fieldhouse West is Manhattan, thankfully there are no NCAA games in that hole.
KU's defense scares me this year, but the offense thrills me. With Frank in charge KU will be in every game. Hopefully Devonte and others feel the urgency that Frank has demonstrated all season. Too bad Frank didn't have more company in the gym this summer!
I was waiting on last years team to win it all for four years. You could see it coming, then it didn't. This year I don't have as high of expectations as last season even though I think this team is more consistnent. The margin for error is much smaller this season than last, they just perform near their ceiling more often.
@Blown I usually fill out a few. In one I remove KU as an option and arbitrarily have them lose a game to see how I would pick withou KUs influence. I hate that bracket...
@Blown If that's how you look at yourself. Yes career politicians are so far removed from reality to be serviceable as human beings. I was speaking more figuratively though.
I was asked to throw my name in the hat and ended up as a city councilman. I didn't ask for a vote not have I compromised, I don't look to advance a career in government. I'm not a politician, just a worker asked to perform a civic duty.

Ah the bracket. The great equalizer. Where you can tell others that their opinion is crap and facts back it up later. Where great orators go to put it on the line and fail time and time again. Can't talk your way in circles across a bracket. It's win or lose baby!
If you don't fill out a KUBuckets bracket you lack the fortitude to back up your predictions. Makes you more of a politician than the everyday heroes I look up to. You don't have to win or even do well, just stick your neck out; that'll make you the winner.

My bracket usually turns out ok, but I cease to care if KU loses. Like last season my bracket was sitting in 1st place then KU lost and I couldn't tell you where it finished. Don't care. Once KU's season is over, unless there is a parade to look forward to, it's on to the next year.
