The last few years (decade+) I’ve watched the Super Bowl for the commercials. With the Chiefs playing I’m actually interested in the game, so now when do I get my snacks?!?
That’s gotta be great for structural integrity. Did minor quakes start the gas explosions in Hutch years ago or was that something else?

The optics at KU have been so bad for so long I don’t blame any recruit for looking elsewhere. And the damn media slobbers over the SEC, so I understand the allure. I still think KU presents the better opportunity for Franks though.

@BShark Garrett is more important. I just think Dave is better. Not necessarily better for the team, just as an individual. Garrett does more for the team, he might be the mvp, even though KU will only go as far as Dotson takes them.

The problem is Dave is one of the 3 best players on the team. Bill has to get him minutes. Dok is the best player; he needs the most minutes possible. It’s hard to not pair them at some point during the game. Bill starts off that way to see how it goes then switches to a four guard lineup to feel it out. If KU has more than three good guards the 4-1 would be the obvious choice, but with the personnel it’s hard to be exclusive to one offensive set.

@kjayhawks Oh I remember. I was at my first Chiefs game (pre-season yuck) and Grbac was QB. Dude called a timeout with 40 seconds left on the clock and 30+ on the game clock to set up a half time field goal. Needless to say the other team immediately came down the field and scored with the time he gifted them. He was totally clueless.

It doesn’t look like the players will be punished at this point. What’s your opinion on a fitting punishment? I’m of the opinion every batter that stepped to the plate and benefited from sign stealing (banging on trashcans etc.) should be permanently banned from baseball. Every last one of them.
Pete Rose bet on baseball, usually on his team to win and is permanently banned from baseball/hof. What these players did is far worse. Their actions changed the outcome of a World Series! Let Charlie Hustle in the hall and kick these jokers out!!!

So I was at another conference with my good old KSU friends (sarcasm) when asked how KU looked at basketball this year. I replied, “Bad.” This elicited an involuntary smile from him and he leaned in to get the scoop. “It’s not likely KU makes it past the Elite Eight unless they tighten things up.”shaking my head,”Another down year.” He walked away.

I usually just sign up for cbs online for the ncaa tournament. This year I get to pay (Antenna doesn’t pick up cbs) for the privilege of watching all my favorite teams seasons end on it!

Anyone that thinks Allen Fieldhouse isn’t as loud as ever just hasn’t been. It looks quieter, because all you see are the first 5 rows during the game and those are damn expensive seats - generally it takes years to generate that kind of wealth so less youth. But if the camera was interested in the crowd instead of the game you’d see the biggest fans losing their shit every game from just a bit higher up than the cameras go clear to the f’n rafters. It’s just ignorant to think you could find a better atmosphere, but if you haven’t been you wouldn’t know just how in the dark you are.
Crowd noise is measured as a peak volume, but if sustained crowd noise was measurable it wouldn’t be close - Allen field house by a mile. (...and the government would probably issue a warning and mandate hearing protection)
Yes fans boo the other team. The entire student section holds up newspapers when the opposing lineup is announced (as in I’ve got better things to do) and boo as they come out. They boo opposing coaches and players and the refs too, but never the boys in crimson and blue. The worst the home team ever hears is silence and it’s deafening. The silence is more demoralizing and detrimental to the team than boos ever could be, that’s when the players know the best fans in sports have given up on them.
I for one am glad teams have figured KU out so early in the season. Maybe Bill can make adjustments to shore up some of these deficiencies. It’s way better than getting exposed in March.
I only got to watch the first half, but it looked like they out Kansased KU. Packed the paint and dared us to beat them from outside and the shooters couldn’t get it done.
@HighEliteMajor ironically Roy won it all with mostly Dohertys guys. Even more painfully ironic -Roy’s winning 3 championships at UNC after learning from his Kansas losses.

Some players ruin their game by trying to round it out instead of becoming elite at the one good thing they do. Dok is elite around the bucket. If he starts shooting jumpers his effectiveness will decline - that’s exactly what Wilt’s opponents wanted (shooting instead of dunking). The best thing Dok could do is work on free throws, since that’s his biggest limiting factor within his current skill set.
