@BShark Take a careful look at the guy on the right. He is a perfect duplicate in both pics. Same folds in his shirt, same line in his neck, same collar or hood, same position of every single shadow in his clothing. Even the same dots on the edge of his arm, with some lightening. Also true of the person on the left. Exact same vertical line to the shoulder, same position of instrument relative to clothes. And except of the increased brightness, our center musician has the same streaks in her hair, same shadows above her to the left.
@dylans The problem with America today is there is way too much acronymony, er, acrimony.
@BShark Nice Photoshopping!

If any of our guys but Devonte go in the first I’ll eat my shoes. Love them, but we didn’t have NBA talent this year.
Your shoes? or the players?
:confounded:
@HighEliteMajor The "155 seconds" article from Newell refers to repeated expressions of frustration by Self when players started doubling on a drive to the post, leaving their man open on the perimeter. And he specifically says "old habits die hard" while quoting both the players and Self about having to cover everyone, not just the guards, as shooters. I don't know if you missed it, or if you are thinking Newell wrote that article for some reason other than to show how the players were not doing what Self wanted.
Whether Self's desire to not help on drives was adapted to Nova's early success, or planned for before the game, is irrelevant: the thrust of the article is manifestly that the players getting drawn back toward the lane were not following instructions. And that was @JayHawkFanToo's point.

@HighEliteMajor I agree for the most part, rewatched some of the game this morning. I’ve mentioned it several times the last few years and I believe it to be true, we do not have the athletes that we need to win in the NCAA tournament (outside of JJ and Mason). Before 2014 very seldom did I come into a games thinking the other team is just better than us in terms of athletic ability, since 2014 it’s almost every game vs power 5 comp. Whomever is evaluating these guys isn’t doing anywhere near as good as Villanova, our recruiting classes have been better more often than not but they look like they have more talent and athletic ability than us.
Wow, a team hitting a lot more shots in one game than they did any other time becomes an indictment of recruiting for a period of years?
I think some people here need a major dose of overreaction antidote.

We just looked totally unprepared. And the Doke game plan was flat out dumb. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a team give up on perimeter defense like that. This was an embarrassment that tarnishes the prior success of this season.
No, it didn't.

I heard Newman growing up in a 2 bedroom home w/dad and dads 2 siblings and gma. Wonder where his mom is at? So many sad stories, hurts my heart.
This article has more on Malik's childhood; apparently Mom was still in his life after he moved in with his dad.

@Bwag Switching and doubling inside is what we did through conference play (until SDS became effective) to protect Doke from having to defend one on one in the post, and to keep him from fouling out.
@BShark I seem to remember lots of posts here over the last few days about how we should force it inside to get Pascall and Spellman in foul trouble defending Doke.
@chriz How many recruits have we gotten over UNC?

I mentally checked out at 22-4.
We outscored them after that.
@Buster-1926 Very nice! When we succeed beyond all expectations, people seem to forget all about their earlier expectations. There is reason to be disappointed in the result of this game, but not in the season.
Billy=Wally Pipp of college basketball?
KU 83
Nova 71
@KUSTEVE Who does he think he is, a congressman or something?
@Crimsonorblue22 I expected Svi. He was 2nd team last year. Three were 1st team--Coleby, Self, and Lucas.
@BShark And Clay! 1st team
@jayballer73 Crosswords and solitaire games are how I made it thru 2 Royals World Series runs. NY Times has a fun mini crossword everyday that can be completed in 5 mins or less.
@Kcmatt7 Nov 25-27, 2019.
@Kcmatt7 KU is in Maui next calendar year, Thanksgiving 2019! (So don't go this year unless you want to see a bunch of other teams.)
The cost is, of course, insane if you use their packages that do not include getting there. 20 months to save $175 per month and, if you can swim there, you and another person can have a blast with the big package. If you fly, count on $600 to $1,000 each for round trip. (If you eat, expect another $200 per; if you drink, double that.)
Over $5,000 minimum for two to see all 12 games, or $4,500 for just KU's 3 games.
But you get a pair of sunglasses.
We wouldn't do it if not staying longer, if we weren't going anyway, and if we didn't have timeshares. We will have our son investigate the game a la cart tickets.
@bmensch1 Did I miss Malik run-ins with the law?
Stats from the game. DM & QG 14 pts each, DD 8. QG 6 assists

@Hawk8086 Speaking of morons, did KState do T-shirts for the Svi Eurostep?
Only can vote until Friday 4:59 pm Central.

My stepson thinks the tickets for just the games are cheap but like I said before, there are only 2500 seats total so big demand by advance travellers might mean limited availability.
@wissox SC for KU? I am kinda alone down here it feels like, so maybe people saw all my KU hats and shirts!
@RockChalkinTexas Villanova has 3 (Delaware, too). But we have Hawaii!
@BShark It would have been 10 years but for the Big 12 tournament.
@BShark 6'10" & 200 lbs! Stork?
@Crimsonorblue22 See ya there!
@Barney By then my wife will be retired so I think we will mix two time share weeks with a week or so at the kids house. only 2500 seats at the Lahaina Civic Ctr where it is held, so we will be doing what it takes to get some asap.
@Kcmatt7 Monday, Tues, and Wed before T-giving. I didn't save the link. Google it and you can start making reservations. $250 per person deposit!
@BeddieKU23 "I’m surprised Robinson didn’t pursue this further. It makes me think other things were involved there with Robinson...."
Yeah, I should have acknowledged that by never actually enrolling anywhere he never had a school apply for a waiver. Both KU and LSU backed off after a couple weeks of interest. Due diligence results, perhaps.
@BShark I wonder if he will argue that he is just shy and Eustachy promised to help him meet cheerleaders and invite him to parties and stuff.

@stoptheflop "How does Villanova stop Dok on offense?"
There is an ironic hint at the end of your own user name.... Watch their skinnier guys sprawling all over.
@BeddieKU23 On the other hand, Mitchell Robinson left WKY after attending only 2 weeks of summer school and was also granted a (grudging) release, but was not allowed to play anywhere immediately. (Apparently)
His situation is different because he went there even after his mentor asst coach was fired, and the head coach is obviously more central to players' choices. But, the NCAA has not been real sympathetic to multiple transfers in the past. Incidentally, @Kcmatt7 provided excellent analysis of this issue last August in the "2018 Recruiting" thread.
I think he sits out, gets yet another year of school for free, graduates, and transfers again!
@BeddieKU23 Coach being fired might change things enough for a waiver.
@BeddieKU23 I don't think he could be eligible if he practiced with C State and attended class (the sit-out triggers). Otherwise transfers could just go someplace they didn't give a crap about playing for, planning on moving to a better program when they are eligible. Cannot see how that would work. Coaches would go berserk!
@FarSideHawk Who are the others in the top 5? I'm guessing they aren't playing anymore!
CBS did a rating of the 20 starters in the F4. DG #2, MN 7, SM 9, UA 13 and LV 14. He said it was based on the entire season but he acknowledged moving MN up because of his past 3 weeks. (I think LV would get a boost too.). Brunson 1, Bridges 3.
Flying to Austin, or arriving Sat morning or leaving on Wed rather than Tues, can be cheaper. When I checked, various combos were about $600 different from Charlotte NC.
@Gorilla72 I noticed in the 4th that a couple of their guards forgot about passing and patiently waiting for open shots, and forced "hero" 3 pt attempts. When they tried to get it inside they did pretty well.
So, Malik is going to the Final 4, and will play Saturday. Mississippi State, from whence he came, plays in a Final 4 tonight. NIT, of course, but gosh, I bet he regrets transfering since they are getting there first--sort of.
Meanwhile, Dwight and W Ky are in a tight (1 pt) game in the 4th quarter against Utah.
@HawkInMizery He said the games in March are "the money games", which I took to mean these are the ones that really count. Edit: different quote apprently.
@BeddieKU23 I think with our grandkids living there we can count on it! Finally!!!
@JayHawkFanToo Does that mean under the @wissox rule we give you a thumbs-sideways?

Who needs the NBA? Maybe he will get drafted to the NFL by the Rams. Now that they have gotten Talib, Peters, and Suh, it might be the perfect fit.
