We are in the pace and space era and we really run lineups with 3 non shooting bigs and a non shooter at PG.

It’s the type of thing you would laugh at happening in another program but it’s become normal here. It almost feels like a middle finger to the fan base at times with some of the lineup decisions.

I saw a Dajuan/Shak/Diggy/KJ/Flory lineup tonight man. Who is supposed to score or create shots in this lineup?

He’s washed up and dying on his sword. If it wasn’t for me wanting to see Darryn Peterson and Oats having a large buyout…I’d recommend turning the program over.

Invest in Darryn Peterson and the kids next year. This group doesn’t have “it”.

I mean he’s made it too obvious that three guys get treated different. Hard to get buy in when you make it that blatant

I genuinely can’t wait for Dajuan and Kj to leave. Maybe coach will regain some sanity then

I’m giving him next year but he’s lost this group imo. The bizarre rotations…weird personnel decisions..

Dajuan has took a fair amount of blame. But AJ was truly terrible that game against TCU.

He literally just needs to play Dajuan/Zeke/Rylan/Flory and Hunter.

Self: If people think this is the frickin end of the season, it’s not at all. We played right with maybe the best team in America tonight without one of our starters.

Flory was the best player on the court and has been outstanding since he got starter minutes. But since he isn’t 25 or in the circle of trust he has to go to the bench lmao.

This my worry KJ comes back and Flory goes back to playing 11 minutes a game while KJ a plays 30. Id be shocked if it doesn’t happen with how mentality disabled Self seems to be the last few years.

Self has allowed his affinity for certain guys to affect him way too much recently. We all know he’s had favorites in the past but he could be somewhat subjective…now if you aren’t in the circle of trust..Good luck

@kjayhawks it’s even more frustrating when you think about we likely lost out on a future NBA talent in LaBaron. His camp didn’t want him sitting the bench and they know Coach won’t bench Juan ever. He’s held us hostage for years.

Yet last game we got told “he just needs pros around him.” Like no crap every player would look good if they had pro teammates around them.

Correct sir the same Juan was 1/6 in Ames as well and had some huge misses in key moments.

Don’t forget when he nearly cost us a title by stepping out of bounds. It’s on coach for knowing this guy isn’t built for those moments and never trying to upgrade or either putting him in those spots.

We continually get gaslit about that kid and then he proves the detractors right. He was never good enough to start here but yet we’ve had to deal with it because of coach’s affinity for him personally.

I can’t believe I’ve had to watch this guy be the PG for my favorite team for the last 4 years but I’m finally almost free.

Shak still messes up the sets a bit is why I assume Bill had been going with Diggy but I think you just need to live with that because it's a night and day difference in terms of their overall play.

Legit laughable take. We would’ve been out in the second round if it wasn’t for Remy. Creighton was leaving Dajuan open all first half. Self has had favorites before ie Jamari Traylor and etc. But the love for the core 3 and them being in the circle of trust is making for some unwatchable basketball.

Considering we’ve been getting our ass kicked during most of Juan’s tenure not really. For KJ I do think it means something so I’m wrong for omitting him but Zeke is a Lawrence kid.

The best teams as the other poster pointed out were 4/1 and yet he’s talking about playing 3 bigs because he’s so frustrated with our wings. Maybe coddle them like you do the big 3 and they’d produce better.

If he Embiid or Oubre’s incoming DP he needs to be “retired” next year because he will have effed up yet another roster.

He’s going to value Elmarko and McDowell and somehow Clemence might get minutes because they know what he wants and practice well versus all the young guys and 1-3 upper classmen transfers he brings in and gets mad at how they do things in practice.

He runs a program like the 80’s

He’s gaslit the program for multiple years that Juan is the truest pure pg and incredible - people said “self knows more than message board idiots” and actually the people watching the games from their house could see it clearer

He thought Hunter is the next Jokovic and he can’t defend a ball screen or the rack, roll quickly to the hoop or hit 3’s consistently. Yet Bill knows more and plays him

He’s gaslit us that kj is as impactful to a game as Ochai was. He had the game against Duke and watching Duke that would go different if we played again. Every other game he can’t score outside a dunk, kills all offensive spacing (doesn’t matter Juan can’t beat his man off the dribble consistently anyways) and can’t rebound.

He plays a pg who isn’t a threat to score and can’t shoot - when he shoots a lot the other team loves it. And he plays a 4 man that is zero threat to score and other teams don’t guard. We then can’t score but he doesn’t care because defensively he’s happy getting beat 74-57. Oh but with 4 minutes left it was a 6 point game. Did you all watch? We never had control, we’re down the 15-11 and NEVER took the lead again. OH YEAH BUT WE WERE RIGHT THERE BABY AND ALMOST HAD THIS ONE!

Yet Self never sits these three - thinks they are his best shot to win and has yet another year where we aren’t even conference contenders let alone a title

Hope you all keep those title hopes alive and keep on believin because you clearly are seeing the same stuff I have for 3 years and somehow expecting different results which is the definition of insanity

He keeps calling Juan a winner but we’ve gotten our ass kicked more during his era as PG than ever before in Coach’s history. If it wasn’t for Remy we would’ve never saw the second weekend during Dajuan’s tenure.

Dajuan is atrocious. He is the worst PG of the Self era by far. KJ played with effort but he isn’t very skilled so at some point it becomes harmful. Hunter wasn’t into it at all yesterday.

At this point I’m just looking forward to next season and getting some new kids in the program.

People continue to roast Bill on Twitter/X for continuing to defend KJ and play him as much. He said the last play was drawn up for KJ (stupid). He defended KJ saying he just had a bad game and then threw Storr and Griffen under the bus. Hes gonna lose this team if he already hasn’t. If he has any coaching sense he’d start the two of them and actually let them play thru those mistakes like he does KJ, Juan and Hunt.

He’s lost this group. And I can’t blame the transfers. You miss one defensive rotation or jumpshot and you’re pulled. KJ gets to go out there and put out a prime Matt Kleinman stat line and gets to play 25 minutes no matter what.

I don’t know what DaJuan or KJ has on Coach but it’s essentially neutered my goat.

I’m grateful Coach pushed all his chips in on Darryn. Just a better fit for us on numerous levels

Hmmm maybe Bill’s eye for talent and roster construction within the portal sucks??? His system sucks for even veterans who transfer in to get acclimated?

Starting to firmly believe you can’t build a title winner around Dajuan, KJ and Hunter.

Our guards and wings kicked their ass. Shout out to Flory too…he grew up last night.

Coach Self still has it

I think they would take a HS guy if a guy blows up in season. But getting in my opinion the second best player in the country in DP and a freak athlete who could be a developmental story in Samis is solid.
