I told you man it feels like they just look for who averages the most ppg in the portal and recruit based off that. We need to evaluate for FIT more than anything.

We aren’t talented enough and that’s on the staff. The old Self would’ve recruited over a few of these guys. The new Self just tells us how much they’re winners while we get our tails kicked by any team with some decent talent.

Being real with whom we had this season it’s very true. I’m gonna give self some credit here because idk if a lot coaches get this group to the tournament tho I disagree with a lot of his coaching this season.

Juan- doesn’t start at any other school in the B12

Zeke- a top 10 3 point shooting season in ku history but lacks defense and creating his owe shott.

Rylen- spot up shooter that was too scared to shoot, basically Timberlake 2.0. Wasn’t good without NBA caliber teammates.

KJ- heart breaks he got hurt but he isn’t starting at 4 at any B12 school.

Hunt- has cement shoes, couldn’t guard a soul and was just too inconsistent. Half of his missed layups are dunks for centers with athletic ability.

Diggy- not a D1 player IMO but at least plays hard.

Flory- just needs strength and experience

AJ- seems to not give a rats ass about anything. Could’ve played his way into a draft pick with his size and athleticism. Same guy that was on/off at Wisconsin and St John. What could have been if Bill didn’t ride Rylan’s coat tsuk the last 2 months.

Shak-couldn’t stay healthy tho I thought when he as healthy, it was as good or better than Juan

I genuinely mean this with all due respect but with the resources Coach has at his disposal in regards to NIL and adidas…

How is this an acceptable roster? We might have one fringe NBA player in Flory and he’s like two years away at best.

I wouldn’t bank on Elmarko starting coming back from that type of injury imo. If he can give us a solid 15-20 minutes I’d be fine with that.

So tell me, after the 2020-21 season with Marcus Garrett as the starting PG, how many people were projecting Dejuan Harris to win the starting PG job long term with a 2021 class that included Remy Martin, Bobby Pettiford, JCL, and Joe Yesufu? Did Self bring all those players in that class because he thought Dejuan Harris was going end up being a 4 year starter? You don't bring that many potential short and long term answers in because you think the answer is ready on the roster.

I'm done responding to you on this, I've answered your question multiple times, you choose whether you want to accept that answer or keep using hindsight, but I'm done addressing it.

You can’t address it because you’re wrong like me and Kubballin have told you. Since 22 Self has never tried to recruit over Dajuan. He has recruited guys to play alongside him. Morris, JCL, Remy, Elmarko have all played the two while DaJuan has ran point. Even now when Diggy and Shak are in with Dajuan he is running point.

If you remember the Michigan State game the year we won the title. The lineup was Dajuan/Remy/Ochai/CB/Big Dave. Jalen came off the bench. Now that could’ve been because of his dui or incident but Jalen didn’t start if I recall until Remy got hurt.

He has never tried to take the ball out of Dajuan’s hands. It is a blatant lie to say he did. He recruited guys to compliment him but never tried to upgrade

This is an objectively false statement. At PG, Self has brought in Bobby Pettiford, Jalen Coleman-Lands, Remy Martin, and Elmarko Jackson.

At forward, Zach Clemence was in the same class as KJ. Others expected to take minutes from KJ were Ernest Udeh, Zuby Ejiofor.

Obviously, none of those options worked out except for Remy for the last few games, but to say Self never attempted to upgrade those positions is just flat out wrong.

This is untrue imo. Pettiford wasn’t ever a threat to take minutes from him. JCL is more of a two guard than anything. Remy…no need to go into that situation but we had an actual nba player coming off the bench for a minute due to Self not benching Harris. Elmarko played the two as well as Arterio Morris even though they were evaluated as point guards. They played as secondary ball handlers cause God forbid anyone actually gets to be the primary handler when Dajuan is on the team.

Clemence came in the same class. Zuby and Udeh are 5’s which theoretically KJ is but he complained about playing the 5. So we moved him to the 4 and have yet to try to upgrade. We passed on getting Harrison Ingram who ended up being a NBA player due to KJ.

Here’s the thing..he never tried to recruit over KJ and Dajuan. That’s what puzzling to me and a result of him being stubborn.

It’s more than play for the name on front of the jersey imo. They’re just not that good. All of these guys sans Hunter aren’t talented enough for the roles they’re placed in. Dajuan is fine as a starter if you have 3 other NBA players. KJ is fine if you have 2-3 floor spacers with him. But together with Dajuan it doesn’t work.

They’re just not that good. It’s maybe 1 nba player on this team.

There’s no solution. They’re just not that talented and outwardly look like they’ve quit on their coach and vice versa.

We just have to wait it out cause Self has a fetish for the core 3. If things look this bad next year with Darryn and Flory then conversations will be had.
