Wow, totally surprising…I am looking all over my Netflix and can’t even find anything that says there’s an NFL game happening soon. Amazon has it plastered all over the place for TNF!

Christmas Gift to KJ • Dec 23, 2024 06:49 PM

Poor KJ. This is a never ending conversation. I look forward to next year's board, so we don't have to talk about him and Harris.

He's really just a garbage guy and Self's favorite versatile defender. Some days are better than others.

Since Self will never NOT play him, i just hope he can play D and make what baskets come to him. Rebounding is obviously not part of Self's plan for him, or he'd yank him from the game more often.

Next year's conversations will be interesting without KJ. will we miss him more?

We got our WR1 it would seem

I hope so! Nice to get Alabama transfers for sure. No doubt he was waiting behind a talented WR crew there, and couldn't get on the field too much.
But WR1? I haven't looked at our WR crew. Who else we got?

i hope a WR1 would have more than 4 catches last year.

Happy for a win! Heading into the game i thought Houston would offer a good challenge. Their pass rush looked like trouble. One game closer to clinching. nice. So grateful to see another weapon on the field for Mahomes. Attaboy, Hollywood!

Boy the Chiefs sure put Worthy to work today. I wish he were a tiny bit stronger to get through through a defender on those one-on-one outside screen plays. That would sure open up the offense if he could power through a lone tackler. Doesn't seem like it takes much to trip him up.

Go Chiefs!

2024 NFL Season • Dec 21, 2024 05:19 PM

Oh jeez. Just realizing the Jayhawks have an actual Sunday game!

Weird, but better ;)

Dang, Chiefs and Jayhawks on at the same time again. Well, overlapping at least.

Do Chiefs play Mahomes if he is not 100% or go with Wentz

I say rest him and let Wentz play

Seems like the most winnable game we have left?

Tough call, but I say play him. Reduce that magic number for No 1 seed as quickly as possible.

Not that it matters, he’s playing anyway!

So, the Chiefs start out as 2.5 pt underdogs to Houston on Saturday. Houston, who's losses include the Jets and Titans. I know Mahomes' ankle injury contributes to the line and I sure didn't think Wentz looked very good. KC has certainly suffered its share of injuries to be tabbed as a lucky team.

Any team that has beaten Buffalo has my attention.

Hey, a win is a win. I’ll take it!

Saved by turnovers. That was crazy. So many.

Gotta question some weird play calling and also decisions by Mahomes today.

On the play Mahomes got hurt especially. Why the hell was he dorking around in the pocket? That should have been a split second slant to a TE for a first down. Don’t get that play call nor execution. Injured for no reason!

I hope both he and Kelce are ok.

North Carolina Champion to be crowned today. • Dec 15, 2024 01:54 AM

The encouraging signs:

— we made some shots!

— we were more aggressive driving the ball.

— we seemed active for a lot of the game.

— we got Hunter involved. This is a must every game.

— Shaq sighting!

The discouraging signs:

— don’t look at the team FT stats. Despite more active driving, we barely got to the line. NC State had a zillion more attempts. Wtf?

— Hunter pulled another Hunter.

— AJ and Rylan live on another planet. Rylan had a few bright moments. But These guys need to get a clue, quickly.

— How many minutes did Harris play? (Lots)

Some hyperbole for @FarmerJayhawk :rolling_on_the_floor_laughing:

There’s some reality to the hyperbole here. The Jayhawks aren’t prone to three game losing streaks.

And I’ve honestly never heard so many people (including me) question Bill Self before.

So whether it’s Self or his players not playing up to snuff, one of those two things has to change. They may be hand in hand.

I’d be very grateful for a positive outcome!

Has anyone heard any more about Tiller joining Ku at Semester?- -Not sure the logic in that , heard he would redshirt , well if he does that then why at Semester ?- you can do that at the beginning of next yr. Just seems kind of senseless for this yr.

You don't want him to come in and try and play for a semester and lose a year of eligibility by doing that. He isn't going to help that much in a semester of play , going to take time to get accustomed to college ball.

Can someone explain what the logic would be for doing this, or what would be the advantage of it.

Wouldn't it simply make sense for him to come in now and learn the system and build up his body to be ready for the start of next year? Maybe that'll get him in and out of Self's doghouse quicker!

I’ve been looking, but haven’t noticed Storr pouting at all. Seems lively enough

Muck Fizzou • Dec 08, 2024 09:32 PM

ā€œI don’t think we had them ready to play,ā€ Self said. ā€œ(Missouri’s) pressure and their length obviously was the key element in the game the first 25 minutes, and we didn’t do a good job of understanding that or playing to that."

This kinda sums it up for me. how is it even possible that the coaches can't coach em up properly? Before or during the game. Just don't get it.

Muck Fizzou • Dec 08, 2024 08:42 PM

Fun with stats (or not so fun).

If you took a quick glance at the stats, you'd think Kansas may have won.

FG attempts
KU 63, MU 52

Made FGs
KU 25, MU 23

Made 3 pt shots
KU 8, MU 4

Rebounds
KU 40, MU 29

Assists
KU 13, MU 8

But then it gets ugly

Turnovers
KU 22, MU 11

and the game winning stat for MU

FTs
KU 9-11, MU 26-31

that there is pathetic, again.

Muck Fizzou • Dec 08, 2024 08:24 PM

This loss was a tough one to place clear blame. I still think Self and the staff had a hard time adjusting in the first half. big blame on them.

But, the players coulda, woulda, shoulda as well.

Zeke starting to worry me.

The Chiefs just can't have anything nice lately.

Wide receiver Mecole Hardman — who had been listed as questionable for Sunday’s game after suddenly being held out of practice on Friday — has been placed on the team’s Reserve/Injured list. He'll miss at least four games.

Upon further reflection, i stand by two things i said last night.

-- That was IMO the worst coaching night i can recall by Bill Self. This loss is mainly on him for absolutely not adjusting to give his team a chance to win. That shocks me given he's in the HOF.

-- Hunter remains lazy and slow. But he can score down low when he gets position for sure. But we could have still kicked it in to him so he can pass out. he's got those skills. This again falls on Self for not making it happen.

Dajuan took lots of shots, but if you're a long time watcher, you can see most WERE NOT his usual shots. he was reaching/trying too hard at more awkward angles than usual because of the crowded lane.

That's where others needed to step up and drive the lane and dunk on somebody's head to either make them change defensive strategy or draw a freaking non existent foul. This has to change. we have to get to the line more.

I have had moments of praise for Zeke so far this season, but i've also had some concern. I don't know how to describe the concerns though. What is it? aggressiveness? Effort? Skill? None of the above?

I realize it's just a loss, but there were things that seemed very broken last night. Hope they can be fixed.

Yeah it was a weird game from Bill. He cares about some games more than others. The fact that he put in Zach had me speechless and told me a lot.

The flu is running through the team, I think that was a factor with Hunt as he looked lethargic even by his standards.

Creighton definitely invited KU to shoot midrange shots over their length, good gameplan.

Zeke hesitates too much I feel.

Ahh, hesitation. That may be it!

Yea, I am in no way pointing a finger at Dajuan. He gamely tried.

I understand Creighton’s game plan. What I don’t understand was Self’s inability to adjust.

I’ll tell you who is completely uninterested on D — Hunter. It’s not even an afterthought. It’s like he just doesn’t give a crap. I was screaming at him multiple times tonight. Loafer. Lazy. I desperately wanted him out of the game. I dunno how Self didn’t pull him a few times. Maybe would have given our offense a different look.

For the rest of it…crap. Nobody gets a passing grade tonight. I take that back. Clemence gets an A+. He was great.

We were outrebounded by a very large margin.

We were out-free throwed by a huge margin.

Self gets a triple F-minus tonight. Zero adjustment to get Hunter a shot, any shot. Very poor game planning and adjusting. That may be the most shocking thing tonight.

An all around clunker.

Yea, it’s been a weird year for sure for the Chiefs. Dumb luck is dumb luck though. I’d rather have it than not.

You could pretty easily argue that Mahomes has had to adjust to new receivers pretty frequently. Some not very good in some ways. Same goes for Andy and the coaches. Maybe it’s harder than what we think to game plan and adjust.

My two cents: think about how bad it could have been without the Hunt pickup.

The big surprise to me vs the Raiders was how poorly the defense played against the run. We’d been pretty damn good all year. I think some of that was Jones continually lining up outside to find a better matchup, hurting our chances of stopping the run.

The CBs, that’s another story…
