I told y'all Q was transferring, my sources are usually spot on.
@FarmerJayhawk no lie lol
@FarmerJayhawk It would be really weird, but Grimes also isn't a PG.
Heard an interesting rumor about Grimes returning to college but transfering to Arizona State.
Does this mean Grimes will return?
The rain sweeping thru Kansas this afternoon is the tears of the rest of the B12. Enjoy your one year folks, we are coming back.
Juwan Howard, member of the Michigan fab five that took the college basketball world by storm in the early 90s is returning to his alma mater to coach. Will be interesting to see how he does, only having a few years as an
NBA assistant under his belt. Thoughts?
I really feel for the kid, hes been here for over a year and a half, yet only played like 20 games. The crime doesnt fit the punishment. I've said it a million times so I'll say it again. The NCAA is the biggest legalized mob outside of the government in this country.
My wife is into it big time, so I watch with her. I personally think the show has gotten worse every season since 5 when they didnt have the books to go off of. There was too much of nothing in the final season IMO. I really dont get into show because they get repetitive after a few seasons to me. But I'll say it's a solid series for sure.
In a perfect world you have a little bit of both lol. I agree with @justanotherfan, especially about wigs and even Josh Jackson, both crazy athletes but not great basketball players. I've watched a ton of basketball and watching Wigs live. I think he is one of the most athletic guys around, I think he just doesnt care to put forth the effort to become a better player. He is one of the laziest defensive players in the league today and that says alot. It's TRUE you cant teach athleticism but I'll take a guy that puts forth effort and learns the fundamentals.
@Kcmatt7 That’s excalty what I said last off season, put him on that club and they are dominating the east for the next 5 seasons.
@jayballer73 forsure, I'm not sure he could even see the hoop. Hard to chalk that up as much more than luck.
I feel for Jojo and the 76ers, that was a great series. One of the best I've seen in a over a decade. Leonard is one of my favorite players to watch and he was superman all series but that was outta his ass no question.
@nuleafjhawk I'll agree that hes not quite to their level yet, but he just finished up his sophomore year. Garrett averaged 7.3 ppg, 4 rpg, 2 assists and 1.5 steals last season. That's better in every category than Robinson outside of assists and points for just his senior season (7.9 as a senior). I'd take Garrett as a sophomore over Releford or Robinson in their sophomore years. Releford was a ghost until the second half of his junior season (averaging less than 4.0 ppg). People forget that Robinson was a terrible shooter himself and teams always helped off of him aswell, the difference is we had 3 or 4 that could in 08.
Garrett is a solid player, he improved his driving ability and really hit his stride before his injury. He definitely needs to improve his shooting from both the line and 3 point land. But he is very valuable to our team and anyone that can’t see that, doesn’t know the game. We have had guys like Russel Robinson and Travis Releford (only shot it above 37% from 3 as a senior) that couldn’t shoot to save their lives most of their time here but played major minutes on some pretty salty teams.
@dylans usually it doesn’t rain in western Kansas unless there’s a 150% chance lol. It probably won’t rain again til September now.
I think we could be in great shape pending if the FBI probe ever actually gets anything from NCAA. SDS’s appeal is a big deal for us moving forward as well. As long as we don’t get a post season ban or have to vacate wins, we will be much better next season than this season. @wissox I never agreed with our preseason of number 1 last season to begin with but I wouldn’t put a lot of stock in that. UK and UNC were both preseason top 10 when they missed the dance so if our fall from grace is being ranked 18th and making the tournament, I’m okay with it.
In less than 2 weeks we’ve had 14inches of rain total and that’s with my 5 inch gauge overflowing twice. I’ve been living in central Kansas my whole life, can never remember that much in that short of time.
@HighEliteMajor I think that it is a very debatable question. I would stay with Self if we had the option for Beard to come in tomorrow. That being said I would hope if Self leaves in the near future, that Beard is Longs first phone call, at least at this moment. The question is can Beard keep Tech at the top? He has flipped the script in Lubbock, in 3 short years and deserves a ton of credit for doing so. Self is the better option because he has kept us at the top tier of CBB, maybe even moved us up a notch by winning the NC in 2008. This past season was a let down, all we did was win 26 games, finish 3rd in the conference and make the second round of the NCAAs. There’s only about 5 maybe 6 schools that wouldn’t be okay with those results and Beard has never been at said schools. Self has probably seen and dealt with more as a head coach than Beard will for a few years. When you start winning you have to deal with more boosters, fans, and when you start recruiting and getting better players you have to deal with egos and parents as well.
I think things are shaping up pretty good for us to not only land RJ but be a much improved team for next season. I’m fairly confident Dot isn’t going to be a first rounder and will return for next season. If we can get Silvio cleared and stay away from sanctions, we could have a legit shot at a FF.
@CoreyBill triggered much? I guess I should've used my sarcasm font.
Maybe the players will start protesting themselves
I'd love to go some of these games!
He's a good get for them, but at this point they may as well have kept Hunt. Apparently they are cool with guys beating their GF if it was a few years back.
@KirkIsMyHinrich Doubtful, I bet MSU is preseason #1 and we wont get all of those guys.
We will better next year, line up of Dot (If he returns, which I'd bet heavily on), Garrett, Ocahi, David and Doke, with Mitch, Braun and McBride off the bench. That's if we dont sign anyone else.
Doke has one more day to declare for the draft.
No one forget Cam Newtons dad got 200k and they "Closed that loop hole"
@jayballer73 No i watched a little bit on TV and ya I'd say the one side was at least 60% full. That place holds 50,000 people so you'd think atleast 10k had to be there. That's pretty good for a 30 degree night and a team that hasn't won more than 3 games in a season in 10 years.
@dylans Very true, it the end it's all about the NCAA making bank. If they really wanted to see who the best team is, they'd let the higher seed host the first 2 rounds. KU, Auburn, NMSU and Northeastern all play their games at AFH. Then the sweet 16 is double elimination at neutral sites. Now we very well could've still lost to Auburn this season at home but no way we lose to the likes of UNI, Bucknell or Bradley in AFH. There wouldn't be near as many upset and the average venue is smaller so the NCAA would lose to much viewership and money from attendance to do this. It's the same reason the FF is bring held at football stadiums that hold 80-90K people tho folks that I know that have gone say its a shit gameday experience. They want to sell as many seats as they can, why sell 25k seat for an average of $1500 dollars when you can sell 90k seats for an average $1200 and make tons more money.
I think we have a good shot at Precious, If we can get another guard possibly a grad transfer. I think we will be good to compete for the conference title again. I'm not gonna go after anyone but some of my inside sources are saying addition by subtraction with a couple of the guys that left is the case.
@Texas-Hawk-10 Your right they won two conference tournaments titles not one each.
Remember folks Dook and Coach K have had the best recruiting class for 3 years running. Zion, Barrett and guys are winning all sorts of awards now that the season is over. But they only have a ACC regular season and tournament title to show with zero FFs. That alone makes me surprised that Coach K has came out in support of the OAD rule. At this point could because of NIKE's checkbook. Self's best teams have had 1 or zero OADs or transfers on them. Auburn and Virginia had several guy rated in the 70s or higher. We just need to get the right guys, I think this is a lesson that Self and co are learning right now.
Everyone Calm down! Dotson is just testing the waters, it doesn't really mean anything besides he prob only ends up being here 2 years. I would bet we still have Ochai, David, Garrett and Dot next season. Which are solid piece to build around but won't do us a ton of favors for long term. I'd look for the big step back after next season.
@HighEliteMajor No, this is not social media lol and I agree that the OADs have mostly been failures here. I just don't like seeing people target these young guys for following their dreams even if I disagree with the Decision. Dook fans have been hammering, I mean hammering bad at RJ Barrett for turning pro. We are better than that.
I don't believe this to be a smart move on Grimes part but Good luck to him. Remember we are jayhawks everyone, I hate when I see our fans bashing our guys social media.
@dylans it's funny and sad when you think about it but going back ACC teams to 1991 Dook vs us, ACC teams get the whistle. I remember being bored a few years ago while on nights and watching that game for the first and only time (wasnt even 3 when it happened) and found myself yelling at the TV in a game that I already knew the outcome.
Watching Virginia these last 3 games really make me wonder once again if it all ain't rigged. Each of those tight games had 2 or 3 questionable or flat out missed calls. All of those calls went Virginia's way, you just don't see that too often.
Game was tight before the usual ACC favoritism
@approxinfinity Yep, anytime it's not Dook that gets a lucky call, its front page news. We have on that road ourselves with Elijah Johnson block/charge, Mario Littles FTs vs UCLA and WV last season. Last time I put the calculator to it Dook averaged 22 more FTs at home than opponents. But it will never be news, just like the corruption in Washington or on wall street. As long as the money flows my friends.
Oubre is one of the most maddening OADs we've had IMO. He was interviewed and ran his mouth before the WSU game and then just stood around. I definitely remember twice where we had a run started and he just flat out refused to get on the floor for a couple of balls and we in turn didn't get them. Diallo's athletic ability was never in question, dude just had to learn how to ball, him and Selby are both first rounders of they stay for another year IMO.
@BShark tech guards the ball screen 10 times better than us, some of it is just effort on that end.
@BShark they always say (including me) that defense wins championships.
Tech vs Virginia Monday, wonder what the over/under will be for that game. Could be a 54-48 game lol.
Refs keeping State in this 13 fts to 3 this half and counting.
@wissox I thought it was weak in that situation. The missed double dribble was worse.
Tech is playing this game at a good pace for them, keeping MSU from running.
@approxinfinity how hard of a foul could it have been if the dude shot it too hard and was still up right? If KU was called for that at the buzzer we'd all be pissed.
Virginia gotta pretty lucky, miss an obvious double dribble and that was a weak foul on a trash shot at the buzzer. But what a difference a year makes.
