@DCHawker Our guards always take it to the rim and end up on the sidelines when sometimes a pass would get an easy layup
Braun got a hair cut. Looks good
The defense did a great job of slowing down Derrick Henry. He gained 69 yds on 19 carries. That's likely one of his lowest totals of the season. Go Chiefs. I was watching in 1971. Hopefully, a win this time.
@StLJhawk It's a trade off: Moss's offense has kept us in this game
14 to 8 rb edge; Dok has 5.
I always wonder if KU will choose to guard Baylor's best 3 point shooters, Butler 35/87, 40% and Bandoo 17/40, 42%, or just hope they miss. Teague is also a threat: 28/81, 34%. Big 12 guards don't seem to be intimidated playing in AFH at all. Oh Lordy, this is going to be a nervous game for me.
KU 6/8 from 3, 75%. That's how you win on the road.
Haliburton with the collar at the half. What what.
ISU bench 8; KU bench 0
ISU is averaging 24 3 attempts per game and makes 7.7. I hope our guys make an effort to defend the 3. Do we really need one of the guards in the paint on defense?
Maybe it was just on off day for Devon against WV, but I was really surprised to see him accept the shooter's role in the second half and be content to let someone else handle the point guard duties. When Marcus or someone else was getting KU into its offense, I kept looking for Devon and saw he was just lurking on the perimeter, like Vick last year. I was disappointed not to see the dog come out for Devon. But, perhaps coach didn't give him the chance to operate the point in the second half.
Anyone else concerned about another game with very little bench scoring? Only Braun scored. Only 6 shot attempts by nonstarters. WV got 20 points from its bench
WV 35 rbs, KU 23. OUCH
How sad. I now cheer for made KU FTs. Pathetic
@BShark Dok and Dotson haven't played well since Dayton.
The line is KU by 10. So, KU 75, WV 65? Whatcha betting out there?
KU must get Dok involved in the offense. 0/1 in the first half.
I'm looking forward to Coach Self putting a defensive scheme together to shut down Jeremiah Robinson-Earl. He's doing well: 12 pts., 10 rbs., FG 48% and 35% from 3. Will Marcus guard him when we shift to the 4/1 offense?
Our bench is shooting 3/17 from the field
Hitting FTs for once. 14/16
Again, not much bench production: 2 pts. Enaruna
For playing at home, Agbaji is not playing well
This needs to change quickly.
12 bench points so far. That's an improvement.
Thank you Texas Tech.
We need to get Moss going. o/6 from 3 and the guys have quit shooting them since other parts of the offense are working fine. No 3s at home? That has got to change.
@drgnslayr Coach was very antimated on the sideline of the Dayton game. I said throughout that coach really wanted this win. Did everyone else see Coach as more into the game? I know he said the level of noise in the small building made it difficult to coach on the sideline. But, I saw him pacing and stalking the sideline; really worked up.
@jayballer73 And when we see opponents wide open for easy 3 balls, at least one of our guards is in the paint on defense. KU defense usually has the point guard in the paint, which I just don't understand. I remember Frank hanging out by the rim on defense and now I see Dotson there. Maybe, that's just how the defensive rotation ended with our guard on a forward, but it happens so often, I've concluded that Self wants a guard in the paint when the shot goes up.
Marcus is best when he drives to the rim, but I'm starting to like his outside shot. Now, I'm willing to watch and see what happens with the shot, rather than say "please, Marcus don't shoot out there."
@KirkIsMyHinrich Yes, I did see Moss playing well on defense. I was just surprised he played 36 minutes.
The box score shows Moss played 36 minutes, only took one shot and had 0 points. Kind of reminds me of Grimes.
Dayton is 8/18 from 3, 47%; KU 2/6. We must defend the 3 better
Good grief, our bench has only taken one shot
Anyone else tired of Dayton whining every time a call goes against them?
@jayballer73 We may need to play 4 guards, but coach has his starting lineup set and it includes two bigs.
Fatigue is going to be a factor today. I think coach will insert the freshmen early to give the starters a rest. The freshmen must play better today than last night.
terrible shot selection with this group. Garrett with a 3 attempt early in the shot clock?
@kjayhawks Maybe, it's time to change my name.
Out-rebounded by the Silver Swords, 14 to 13.
Finally, a rule aimed at stopping the flop in college basketball. I like it.
Dok's second foul was a frustration foul because the guards aren't looking to get the ball to him.
Someone besides Dok must step up and score. Dotson had 13 of his current 15 in the first 10 minutes-not much since. Big Dok getting it done.
Getting out rebounded 24/17.
His name doesn't roll off my tongue, but I really like what I see from Enaruna.
Initially, I thought this game was a waste of time. But, all the guys are getting to play and are playing well together.
Dok and Mac with 2 fouls each. Time to pull Lightfoot's redshirt. JK
What's the deal with the Avatar filter?
We aren't looking to shoot the 3 at all
So, we have three games left. Since it's highly unlikely that we win all three to become bowl eligible, doesn't it make sense to start improving the players most likely to be impacts in 2020? What's wrong with bringing in our best QB who's likely to be on the roster next year and giving him some reps when any of our remaining games are out of reach? We know and appreciate what Stanley has done. We don't know if Torry Locklin or one of the other QBs will help us be more competitive next year.
I say if Stanley is having another off day and we're behind by two or three TDs, bring in Locklin or someone else who may help us next year and give them some game experience to see how they do. Also, rotate in some of the other young guys at other positions to give them some game experience. Maybe, some of the young guys will work harder during the off season after competing during these last 3 games.
Not as bad as the Coastal Carolina(3-4) loss, but very, very close.
