@approxinfinity I join @jayballer73 in thanking you for your efforts so our KUbuckets family can be together to share our joy and to console each other when things aren't so joyous!
Thanks, @wissox! That was a fun read.
@Crimsonorblue22 I can't begin to tell you how many tears I've shed over guys leaving whether graduating or moving on to earn a living to help their families.. There have been so many that just hated to see go. Ben Mac was certainly among them. I'll join in your prayer that someone sees his talent.
@nuleafjhawk @benshawks08 @Crimsonorblue22 Thanks to all of you for your insightful and thoughtful posts. We could use more of this on this board.
This article has a list of coaches being looked at to replace fired UNLV HC Marvin Menzies. It includes one current Big 12 coach and a couple of previous ones:

So is it OK if the grown women posting on this site do it?
@wissox WCC has Gonzaga, St. Mary's, BYU, San Francisco, Loyola Marymount, Santa Clara, San Diego, Pepperdine, Pacific, Portland (listed in order of current standings). According to the WCC website, the only WCC Men's Basketball NCAA Championships were won by San Francisco in 1955 and 1956.

Should last less then 24 hours. The NCAA will clear him LOL
Wow, LSU acted fast. Has anyone heard of any information coming out on U of A and/or Sean Miller?

@jayhawkcsg Ochai is hurt.
@BShark What's wrong with him? I hope it is something minor and he'll be ready to play again Saturday. We need all remaining hands on deck!
Sean Miller and Will Wade have been notified they will be subpoenaed by the FBI:

I heard Cartier will have to have surgery on the broken finger, or perhaps has already had the surgery. If true, that doesn't sound like he'll be back anytime soon.

@jayballer73 You seem quite confident that Q won't transfer and I've read this board (and the old site) long enough to know you have good instincts. However, I'm wondering if you have some inside knowledge.
@kjayhawks My problem isn't rooting against KSU - I love to do that. My problem is rooting FOR Iowa State. In my opinion, the ISU fan base is right down there with Missouri. I think Mr. Weatherwax is an emblematic representative rather than an outlier. I wish the WVU@KU and ISU@KSU games were not on at the same time
kjayhawks said:
On the games themselves, ISU @ KSU is pretty much an elimination game for the Cyclones. If they drop that one, they have no shot at a title. OU @ TCU is game that I think knocks OU from the dance if lost. OSU @ Texas, easily a must win for Texas and their post season hopes. Baylor @ TT is another elimination game for the loser in terms of the conference race. Us at home against WV is a must win for our conference hopes.
@kjayhawks Vegas currently has:
TCU by 5-1/2 over OU;
TX by 11-1/2 over OSU;
TTU by 8 over BU;
KSU by 2 over ISU;
KU by 15 over WVU.
Obviously it's hours before these games tip and line may change. I hate routing for ISU, but you do what you have to:fingers_crossed_tone2: :pray_tone2:
@mayjay As much as I dislike the "all politics all the time" current nature of our society, I'd certainly take that if it meant all this NCAA/SDS crap had never happened:person_frowning_tone1:
Vegas has Texas winning by 2-1/2 to 3 points. Vegas didn't get our game last night right, but I've got my fingers crossed they are better prognosticators tonight!
@FarmerJayhawk It probably doesn't help Miller that UA is sitting in the 9th spot in the Pac-12 with a 5 - 5 conference record and currently have a 4-game losing streak going.

@Crimsonorblue22 This article seems to indicate Konate is out for the season:
It's from early January, so facts may have changed.
@kjayhawks Vegas has K-State by 1 with an over/under of 129. Frankly, I am surprised the line is that low. I expected K-State to be favored by somewhere around 6 - 8. Of course, the line may change between now and tip off. If we show up and play like we did on Saturday, we can win this! Remember, we have HOF Coach Bill Self and they have crazy Grandpa McCoy.
It should come as no surprise to see Charles Manson is a UK alum.
@Bosthawk I'm hoping and :pray_tone2: you're wrong!

Silvio, specifically, is going to crush WVU.
So are we to believe the poster that said someone on the team told him Silvio was playing Saturday?
@BeddieKU23 I must have missed the post about someone on the team saying SDS would play Saturday. Was that on some other site? The only thing I've seen is the Seth Davis tweet.
I just read this from Sports Illustrated. It is based on the report from Seth Davis in The Athletic:
It provided some detail that I wasn't aware of, including that SDS may still be ruled ineligible last year and that would vacate the FF (it doesn't mention the conference title). It seems like KU would not willingly enter into an agreement with the NCAA that would include vacating games. Is is possible there could be a negotiated settlement between KU and the NCAA that "time served" would be the only punishment? I certainly hope so - I want to get back to @Crimsonorblue22's full glass:milk:

BeddieKU23 said:
The more I read that it was more a split answer, he thinks Silvio will play this year but has no idea if that could be as soon as Saturday? Am I reading that right?
Anyways The Athletic broke this story and a lot of other places ran with the story so hopefully they didn't just catch a headline for the sake of it. Hopefully there is actually some merit that there could be a ruling one way or the other.
@BeddieKU23 I suspect you're right. Since Davis didn't provide any context for the information or source of its origin, we're really just sitting in the dark with our fingers crossed:fingers_crossed_tone2:

All the disparagement and snideness toward Shaka tells me that the E8 game still means more to this board than the dominance KU has in the B12. So we get all snarky because no VCU fans are here to say, "Yeah, but....elite 8."
@mayjay I agree with what you're saying and I am thrilled with every KU win over Shaka's Longhorns. I hope the Longhorns never get a win over KU during Shaka's tenure (or after, for that matter). Without that E8 win, Shaka would never have been considered for the job at Texas, nor probably any other power 5 team.

Seth Davis's "educated guess" better be right
Yesterday, Seth Davis tweeted, "Hoops Thoughts Exclusive: Kansas will ask NCAA to reinstate Silvo De Sousa." Reply from reader: "Seth - what would you say re the chances Silvio plays this year?" Seth Davis: "I think it is likely (but far from definite that he plays Saturday vs West Virginia. Just an educated guess."
It would be nice to know where Seth got his "education"

that Shaka has the program right where Barnes did - - - -
Yep... and look at Barnes now! Ha!
That should make everyone look a little harder at this. I'm not a Shaka fan. But maybe, just maybe, it is the environment in Austin that is the real problem! Not Shaka or Barnes. I know Texas lost one of the classiest human beings on earth when Barnes left. I don't care what anyone says... the Big 12 suffered a big loss when Barnes left.
@drgnslayr Texas basketball doesn't get support from the UT administration nor from the public, but look at what Barnes is doing at Tennessee - WOW. However, when Shaka moves on from UT, don't look for anything out of him to compare to Barnes. We're talking apples and oranges (no reference to TX) here, and the oranges leave a lot to be desired.

It seems in years past, one team other than KUnstarts out hot. About halfway through (or before), theyβll lose one. Then two. Then it goes downhill for them. KU rebounds and wins it! Exactly like last year. Amiright?

I read their blog, just read it. I think they have given up. Lost coaches and lots of transfers. Teddy buckets didn't get cleared, weird they thought he would. Closer to Nebraska for his support group? Man do they hate us!
I was listening to a Wichita radio station sports talk show earlier this morning. Of course they were crying about WSU's most recent loss (and WSU's entire season), complimenting KSU and saying they would get to KU later. But then, they brought up SDS and said that KU is now willing to admit wrong-doing and plans to "draw a line in the sand" with the NCAA as to when SDS will play again. They went on to compare the Teddy Buckets failure to get a waiver so he could play after he transferred from West Virginia to WSU to the SDS situation. They said WSU folks would be up in arms if SDS gets cleared when Teddy didn't because SDS is guilty of wrong doing and Teddy made the "mature" decision to transfer closer to home (family in Nebraska) because he needed to get his life turned around. They didn't mention that Huggy told him to explore other options nor did they mention any suspensions he'd received while at West Virginia. Sad WSU homies:unamused:
@justanotherfan If I could upvote your post more than once, especially the last paragraph, I certainly would!!

I think this team needed this type of win tonight. It wasn't pretty but we saw some good individual performances from guys who really hadn't impacted the games leading in. This gives me confidence we can go on the road and get some Arizona St revenge.
Moore finally made shots and had some good energy besides some horrible D. Big Dave looked a lot more comfortable later in the 2nd half. Love his effort and motor. If they can get him under control as the season goes by then he starts putting himself on the map for minutes. I think Self has to find a way to play him because he rebounds and runs the floor as good as any big we have.
@BeddieKU23: I :heart_exclamation: Big Dave. I'm so looking forward to watching his development. To me, he has "KU" written all over him and I'm really excited.

The problem isn't Silvo. The problem is the agents, shoe companies, and the NCAA. Here you have kids that have nothing. No real parents to guide them. NO pot to piss in. Yet all they have is the ability to play the game of basketball. Yet every time they are the ones that pay the price. Coaches still get paid, Agents still get paid, and the NCAA still gets paid. Yet the kids get destroyed and get cheated out of a future of money and a education. We fans demand kids like Silvio to have this uncanny of heroism and justice. Yet we forget where they come from. Where just surviving is the main course. Some of you need to check your righteous mindsets. While you grew up in a home with two parents and played sports year round. Some kids are just happy to get home in one piece.
Who should be punished here? Really? Coaches, Agents, Shoe Companies, and yes the NCAA.
Free Silvio. Let the kid play.

I dont think you'll see any Kansas guy go in the first round at this point. I bet Doke goes but its mid second round as well as Vick. Any updated mock draft I've seen has moved Grimes out of the first round or not getting picked at all. Dotson also isn't on any that I've seen, I'd be shocked if both of those guys aren't back next season. If Dedric is a part of a deep run in march, you may see him try to go over seas. I think with an early exit he will return but you never know @BShark had a dream we won the title and Dedric went nuts about how he coming back for another lmao.

Texas just lost at home to VCU and Okie St lost at Tulsa. Two more bad losses for the conference.
KU should slice through the league again. KSU and ISU maybe the only truly tough opponents.
KSU faces Tulsa Saturday afternoon. In December 2017, KSU lost to Tulsa 61 - 54. Tulsa may give the kitties a game.
@mayjay, I was fortunate to have had English/grammar teachers (and my Mom) who not only taught, but required the use of precise speech. I, too, hate imprecise speech and poor or incorrect grammar. I'm with you all the way on that, my friend!
