@FarmerJayhawk Been saying that for years and people just aren’t smart enough of either side to see it.

Yuuuup. My parents are die-hard Trump supporters and several of my best friends are democratic socialists. Doesn't matter to me.

Indeed. Stuff’s usually much more complicated than people want to admit.

So will that absolve KU?

O' Chubby Ankles • Oct 23, 2019 01:34 AM

So basically under the new rules, you can test the waters, lose your scholarship spot, and transfer without sitting just because your scholarship was gone?

Trouble? • Sep 21, 2019 02:38 AM

They can’t make us take down the final four banner. (Can they?)

Devon • Aug 31, 2019 02:30 PM

@dylans Frank Mason?

Moss? • Aug 22, 2019 03:00 AM

Is he the transfer from Iowa?

Frank • Jul 22, 2019 12:36 PM

Crazy that he’ll only make $75K, though incentive potential of around $250K.

Sports is an interesting animal. You can be the best in the nation one year and then barely getting a job the next just due to your size.

Good for Frank though. I know he’ll make the most of it.

So to sum it up, we as a fan base are basically "yeah, we were bad and we're gonna get spanked, even though everyone else should get spanked too. but we're the middle kid ... so ... you know"

But we're also like Lloyd with Ms. Samsonite ... "you're telling me there's a chance!"

Isaiah Moss, a target again! • Jun 10, 2019 06:57 PM

Watch him move his feet on defense. It's a sight to see.

New Zealand breakers • May 28, 2019 04:33 PM

Good for this kid. I can't blame him. I'm guessing Self and Co weren't too surprised, but even if they were, that's the biz. But if I were the kid I'd do the same thing. Would I let the coaches find out via ESPN, probably not. Not sure if that's how Self found out. But overall, a good decision by the kid and his family.

Has anyone heard? Just thinking of what a nice 1-2 punch he and DeSousa could be while Doke is out.

How about:

G: Dotson, McBride

G: Hampton, Garrett

G: Tucker, Agbaji

F: Silvio, Holyfield

C: Doke, McCormack.

Get rekt, America.

Who's Tucker? Unless he's a 5 Star top 10-15 prospect, he ain't hopping over Agbaji.

Rayjon Tucker, a grad transfer from Little Rock. He was head and shoulders better than Ochai last year. I’d actually think about starting them both if we miss on Hampton or Dotson doesn’t come back.

Ah, got it, didn't realize he was a grad transfer. Yeah, that could justify it.

Seriously, who's left? Are we sure Udoka is returning? Agbagi? Are we looking at a starting lineup of Dok, Mitch/McCormick, Agbagi, Dotson, and...who am I forgetting? Obviously she incoming freshman, but with a significant impact? Are these kids (Grimes, Lawson) leaving because Self has dudes coming in?

NCAA News • Apr 11, 2019 04:19 AM

We gotta remember the role of the kids' parents in this thing. They have brains and consciences too. They're putting their kids' eligibility at risk by playing the game. Sure, all parties involved are complicit, but we always let the parents off the hook. They could just end it by sending their kids to wherever they think is best for them and letting the coaches and shoe companies know. Not saying it would be easy, but neither is recruiting.

KJ Lawson to transfer • Apr 05, 2019 03:35 AM

i assume to memphis?

It was a good run. Thank you Jayhawks. • Mar 06, 2019 10:09 PM

(I'd take him in a heartbeat)

Would we take him if Self left for San Antonio?

It was a good run. Thank you Jayhawks. • Mar 05, 2019 05:22 PM

Okay, super silver lining here: if we would've obliterated the record, I think it would lose legitimacy. I'm kinda glad we're done at 14.

I miss Jaybate, I miss last year. • Feb 19, 2019 03:05 AM

Interesting, I never really found him combative. Was it just recently? He always struck me as a bright guy with a few crazy ideas. I never recall him being combative, more just playful.

If you would've told me at the beginning of the year that we'd lose Dok and still not have Silvio I'd figure we'd still win the conference. 2nd place at this point isn't horrible, but it's still disappointing.

Alas, it's nice to be a spoiled KU fan!

A Cure For Cancer???? • Jan 29, 2019 04:18 PM

The best way to make sure this isn't squelched by Big Pharma (both ends of the political spectrum are complicit) is to get the word out and keep the word out. So I'm glad you posted!

Garrett's Shot • Jan 24, 2019 04:58 AM

With his current form, I don't see his shooting improving much if any.

But if he DOES fix his form, he'll be unstoppable. Decision-making, defense, passing, driving, shooting...

Garrett's Shot • Jan 24, 2019 12:12 AM

Why can't this kid learn how to shoot? He's a jump shoot away from going pro after this year or next year. But he has no form and he had all summer to work on it.

I love the kid's and his game and I'm glad he gets so many minutes, so don't misunderstand me. But for the life of me, I can't figure out why he didn't work on his form over the summer. He'll be lucky if he's drafted after his senior year unless he fixes his shot.

How long does it take for Bill to realize that the long ball wins games and he needs to recruit accordingly?

Poor Silvio • Dec 19, 2018 08:11 PM

Yeah, everyone's at fault here, including the kid and his parents. These kids aren't dumb, nor are their parents. They know what's going on, Adidas knows what's going on, and Kansas knows what's going on. Everyone's at fault for breaking the NCAA rules. Doesn't mean those rules are right, but even if they aren't, it doesn't mean people have a right to break them.

"Fools Gold" strikes again • Dec 15, 2018 03:24 AM

Yeah, Garrett is gonna have to play the 4. Hopefully he's not tempted to shoot the 3. If Dedric gets hot and we have one other strong 3 point shooter, and Garrett plays the 4 for the majority of the game, we win.

I get the feeling that Self still thinks shooting 3s doesn't win championships. It's like he was saying, "we did everything right, they just made shots."

Well, Bill, people who get that far have dudes who make shots. You can't double down low and leave a wing wide open or they'll make you pay.

There are so many parallels to the NFL. It's all about the long ball now. Teams are fine giving up larger chunks in the running game, so long as they're not killed by the long ball. And you don't win NFL games with running.

And you're not going to win the Tourney unless you a) hit 3s and b) guard the 3.

yeah this is frustrating, coaches need to emphasize this point in practice and tape watching.

Or is this behavior part of a defensive philosophy that is coached from before the 3 point shot proficiency became a defining characteristic of players games and 3 pt > 2pt strategy worked its way into more and more coachds philosophy.

Self was always until last 2-3 years an Inside-Out coach. Makes me wonder that he hasn't completely adjusted to the new reality in his defensive coaching philosophy and practice. Not a knock, just this kind of thing has happened now for years And we don't seem to have fully adapted. Obviously, there is always an element of execution vs plan that falls on the players but can't help but wonder if one thing is drilled over and over, and the other is a once in a while instruction and players fall to form versus remembering instruction on case by case basis.
Some teams and coaches seem to be much more oriented to both offensive and defensive mindset and player performance on the 3 line.

Exactly. He's rather get beat by the 3 than the 2, and he'd rather win with the 2 than the 3. It's about being a man. In his mind, at least.

Jayhawk-Warrior chat here. • Nov 22, 2018 02:25 AM

Uh, what was that officiating comment about from the commentator?

Vermont Post Mortem • Nov 13, 2018 01:08 PM

@BeddieKU23 you mention the team is a work in progress, which it looks like they are. But it seems like they shouldn't be. From a team standpoint obviously, it'll take a little time to get them to gel. But from an individual standpoint, I'm surprised they're not better. Plus we missed out on a lot of 50/50 balls that I think we'd normally get. Hopefully this was just a sleeper game, similar to the Chiefs vs. Cardinals.

FBI...here we go • Oct 03, 2018 04:22 PM

Is there precedent of vacated seasons due to ineligibility of students even though it was unknown to the university?

Even so, if it turns out that KU had no knowledge and that the charge is defrauding universities, then would the NCAA enforce a further penalty (vacated season) to a defrauded university? I would assume not as it would be a terrible PR move.

FBI...here we go • Sep 28, 2018 02:11 AM

This is like following the Kavanaugh hearings. All drama, no action.

Seems to be the case unfortunately

Yeah Bender was okay. The o line was the issue. That's why we couldn't run the ball either. And a meh defense against a bad football team.

Beaty is a great guy but he's had way too much time not to do significantly better against a team like Nicholls. That's all there is to it.

So did they fire Beaty yet?

Sam Cunliffe • Aug 15, 2018 04:39 PM

My favorite part from the Courier Press article @approxinfinity just posted: "We just kind of talked about it. I told him what I was looking for. He told me what he was looking for and it didn’t match up. It was fine. Just because it didn’t match up doesn’t mean I’m a bad player or he’s a bad coach. We’re both grown men so let’s just part ways."

I love the mutual understanding. Two guys stepping into each other's shoes and moving on. We could use more of that in our culture!

Sam Cunliffe • Aug 15, 2018 01:35 AM

Looks like he's going to Evansville. I wish him the best.

Not really. No one wants to snitch in black on black crime, so no one's held accountable.

Vick Coming Back • Jun 30, 2018 03:41 AM

Sounds to me like Vick had absolutely nowhere to go and he's completely at Self's mercy. This is a win-win situation for Self and Vick if there ever was one.

But it does have the stinch of the Bagley/Carter scenario. Biggest difference is there aren't any potential lottery picks vying for the same PT as Vick.

So I thought his draft stock was pretty high due to his tournament performance. Did he have a bad combine experience or something?
