Guard/Wing that played 3 years at Iowa. Great shooter, seems like a passable defender. Would be a nice fit next to DP to space the floor
@kjayhawks He was so awful. Starting a point guard who can't reliably shoot a pull-up off of a screen is brutal for the offense

Ya I’m pissed because of our seniors couldn’t make a simple pass we are playing right now. Prob don’t win without KJ but still Juan, Hunter and Zeke have turned the ball over repeatedly with the game on the line. That’s unacceptable for guys with their experience level.
Just unreal that we watched 4 seasons of a guy who can't penetrate the paint and by the end of his career, could barely defend point of attack(the one thing he was supposed to be good at)

Right on paper we are much better shooting team than Arkansas and we match up well with St John’s who doesn’t guard the line well.
It was a very generous path, especially considering the likely sweet 16 matchup would've been Tech who's beatable. But of course the team had to let the fanbase down one last time

Embiid, Wiggins left college with a 2nd round exit in the tourney, of course Joel was hurt, but we lost a lot of games that year with them. Josh Jackson played on a more complete team with us I think and we made it to the sweet 16.
TBH honest I don't care if he's the face of the program for the next decade in the NBA. Does nothing for us.
The only way I'll really be impressed if the young man is good enough to lead us to a championship. Maybe he is. Can Self build around him well enough? IDK.
yeah man I totally disagree. Him being successful in the program is huge for future recruits and for public perception. Coaches can point to him as a success story for going to kansas, like how they've used Embiid for all of the bigs recruiting for the last 10 years. Guys like Jalen Wilson and CB are totally fine NBA players but they aren't needle movers like darryn might be.

I don't think some of the fans realize how good he's gonna be. Next year's class is LOADED and he's at the top. We're talking about a guy who might be the best guard prospect in the draft since Luka Doncic. The fact that he's putting up 7 assists along with 30 points is insane.
That's all well and good, but when he doesn't lead us to a national championship and bolts for big bucks I'll just yawn. Maybe it will be fun but I'd much rather know the next Jalen Wilson or Devonte Graham of TRob was coming! Maybe they are coming too.
This program desperately needs Peterson. We've been stuck with senior holdovers for the last 2 seasons and they've been incredibly underwhelming. Peterson has the potential to be the best guard in college basketball and the best guard in the nba, and he'll probably be the face of the program in the NBA since Embiid is cycling out his career. You need upper echelon talent to survive

What about the players "wage"? GTFO! Self at least has earned his over YEARS of work and success. He's proven he cares. These kids have proven NOTHING.
Not sure why we can't maintain some sort of standard for him. Love him for his legendary tenure, but these last few seasons have been a disaster and he's the main architect for this roster with a top 5 NIL budget in the sport. He said he was thinking about the roster for this season for the majority of last season and ended up putting out the same main parts and added complimentary transfers versus making an actual change and doubling down on archaic basketball principles.

Don't really put that much on the transfers tbh. They've largely been bad but they don't play a ton either. I lay most of the blame at the feet of the "Big 3" of the roster and Bill. These guys were expected to be leaders and standard bearers for the university and they've been a joke.
Only solace is that we get closer and closer to senior day and wishing good riddance to a majority of the team

@KirkIsMyHinrich His talent ID is concerning at this point. Taking these transfers over someone like McNeeley does not fill me with enthusiasm for next season. And the guard group is just awful. I mean they got absolutely destroyed by Rob Wright
@SlimShaddy54 Shak's energy is really useful but having lineups with one floor spacer is just awful for offense, especially with KJ who's absolutely zero threat to shoot. At least flory provides rim gravity and smart passing, KJ really doesn't provide anything other than intensity.

Looking like 3 seasons of Bill coddling KJ and dajuan and three seasons of second round exits. Thankfully next season we'll have the top 5 pick echelon level of talent that we haven't seen in years and hopefully Bill remembers that spacing is important.
@SlimShaddy54 Storr was not great but I feel that's more on self. Storr was a known gunner coming out of the portal and self has given him zero leeway and let guys like Kj and Dajuan chuck up shots and pout on the court.
